To achieve the fine detailing of his pieces, Maldonado used remarkably fine, sable-hair brushes, some with as few as three strands. Finding materials to adapt to miniaturized clothing was a constant challenge. This wonderful collection was assembled over a period of years and it was acquired from McGees in Scottsdale, AZ. After collecting approx. 310 of them (supposedly with no duplicates) the collector's were honored with having been told they had collected "an entire set" of miniature Hopi Kachinas by Gil Maldonado! This particular group features the last, over 180 Kachinas...from the collection. Please note, some have minor damage due to previous transport.... MAKER: Gil Maldonado (1933; Hopi/Spanish). SIZE: The saddle seat measures a 13-1/2 to 14 inches. The overall length of the bit measures 8 inches, with a 5 inch mouth. The rig fits a pretty standard...size ...horse....
