A Collectible Plains Native American Antique Fully Beaded Man's Vest
Lot # 25 (Sale Order: 22 of 336)
This is an outstanding example of a desirable and rare beaded vest. This is very much an above average piece executed by a talented bead-worker. The background is light blue with geometric images in green, black, yellow and red, trimmed in orange-red. The designs are typical Lakota Sioux. Beads indicate that the piece was made Circa 1890 - 1910. There is one very small loss at the bottom of the right armhole, where a small amount of hide with beads is missing. Overall it is good condition for a piece of this age and size. It is lazy stitch beading throughout on a Native-tanned elk hide and it is all sinew sewn.
MAKER: Plains, likely Lakota Sioux.
APPROX AGE: Circa 1890 - 1910.
