Clauberg Model 1850 Civil War Era Sword w/Scabbard

Lot # 74 (Sale Order: 87 of 288)      

Marked W Clauberg Solingen with knight symbol on one side. Both sides of blade still have design-work visible. Left side has visible flag - crossed musket and spear and appears to be marked US with draperies - filigree and stars. Right side has flag - drapes with eagle center under E Pluribus Unum. Blade has great patina with some rust in spots. Guard has some discoloring - possible scorch mark. Handle has wear. See pictures. Hard to photograph blade design due to glare. Scabbard well traveled but with remarkably little denting. Blade measures 32 inches long. Overall length just under 38 inches. Again - from family with ancestors who were known to participate in the Civil War. Great piece of history....more
