1942 M39 Finnish VKT Nagant (27" D-Barrel), 7.62x54R , Bolt-Action, SN - 58234

Lot # 292

This Finnish Mosin-Nagant rifle produced at the VKT factory is dated "1942" on the top of the barrel at the rear and was imported to the U.S. by CAI. This gun is also mar...moreked "D", which is a Finish mark indicating the chamber has been opened up to accommodate the D166 cartridge. SPECS: 27" barrel, adjustable folding tangent rear sight, front post sight with wings, metal buttplate, sling rings , bayonet lug, metal cleaning rod and 5-round integral box magazine. CONDITION: This rifle is in nice condition with light wear, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: The M/39 was commissioned in 1939 in order to standardize the Finnish Army's arsenal, which had previously consisted of numerous variants and versions of different weapons. Essentially, the M/39 was a high-quality upgrade of the Russian M91 Mosin-Nagant. It was built using an M91 action bolt magazine assembly and portions of the trigger. However, the barrel, stock, and hardware, including sling connections, sights and nose cap were all replaced. Earlier Finnish adaptions of the Mosin Nagant utilized a bore diameter of 0.3082 inch. To make the M39 compatible with captured Russian ammo, barrels were reamed to 0.310 inch (barrels were marked "D"). The twist rate was also changed to 1 turn in 10 inches rather than 1:9. Because wartime demand delayed retooling, M39 production was slow. The total wartime production of M39s, from all makers, tallied only 96,800 rifles. SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders.

1950s Belgium Browning “Twelvette” Velvet Gray (26" PolyChoke), 12 Ga., Semi-Auto, SN - A3768

Lot # 295

The serial number and lack of a “Twelvette” marking on this Belgium Browning Double-Auto shotgun represents an approximate 1952-1956 production. SPECS: Aluminum-alloy rec...moreeiver with Velvet Gray finish & floral scroll engravings on each side, double-outline checkered walnut stock with fluted comb & round grip knob, gold trigger, brown rubber buttpad with embossed birds-in-flight & black spacer, 26" barrel with PolyChoke muzzle system, 15" LOP and 2 3/4" chamber. CONDITION: This shotgun is showing wear to include a cracked stock at the grip, but still retains a nice clean bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: The Browning Double-Automatic Shotgun was produced from 1952 to 1971, with a total production of only around 67,000. It is a two-shot, short-recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun designed by Val Browning, son of John Browning. The Double-Auto was produced in three versions. The initial model was manufactured with a steel receiver. These are referred to as the “Standard” Model and were manufactured from 1952–1960. A “Lightweight” model was manufactured from 1952–1956 at which point it was rechristened and marked “Twelvette.” In 1957, an even lighter model, the “Twentyweight,” was introduced. Both the Twelvette and Twentyweight have aluminum alloy receivers with various names such as “Duralumin” and “Hiduminium”. The steel version was offered only in traditional blue and the Twentyweight came in an anodized black with gold-filled engraving. According to Browning lore, Val made up a number of different colors as sample guns for the “Twelvette's” and sent them out to his two biggest dealers — Sears and Montgomery Ward — to see what the public thought. Some of the dealers sent them back claiming no one wanted to hunt with anything but a blued gun. Val ordered the returned guns to be destroyed. Val then asked his employees what colors they thought would be most popular with the public. Their input resulted in four “official” colors being offered: Dragon Black, Velvet Gray, Forest Green and Autumn Brown. Royal Blue, Oxblood Red, Golden Yellow and even Pink are extremely rare versions escaping factory destruction or were never returned by Sears and Wards. The Double-Automatic was considered one of the most innovative shotguns of its time but commercially was not a success. SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders.
