Browning 1911-22 A1 GI (4.25"), 22 LR, Semi-Auto (W/ Soft Case), SN - 51EZY03701

Lot # 358

SPECS: Aluminum alloy frame & slide finished in matte black, WWII GI style brown composite checkered grips, 4.25" stainless steel barrel with target crown, GI style dovet...moreailed notch/ front ramp sights, beavertail grip safety, grooved rear strap and 10-round steel magazine. This gun comes with a Browning "100 YEARS 1911-2011" brown canvas/ leather soft case. CONDITION: This pistol is in nice condition with no wear to speak of, has a perfect sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. BROWNING INFO: John M. Browning developed the Model 1911 to fire the powerful 45 ACP cartridge. We developed it to fire the 22 L.R. and, after extensive testing and research, determined that 85 percent of the original size was ideal for the smaller cartridge. Put one in your hands and we know that you’ll agree. It still handles and disassembles just like the 45 caliber 1911 used by the U.S. military for over 100 years. All of the pistols' controls operate as those on the original designed Model 1911. The slide stays open on an empty magazine and is released by either pushing down on the manual slide release, or pulling back on the slide and letting it go after a loaded magazine is inserted into the magazine well. The magazine release is positioned adjacent to the trigger guard for convenient operation, and the grip safety and thumb safety are also true to the original 1911. The Browning 1911-22 A1 Semi-Auto Rimfire Pistol gives shooters the opportunity to inexpensively practice shooting a 1911-designed pistol, while learning one of the most important chapters in U.S. firearms history. SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders.

SCARCE - 1913 Remington No. 4-S “American Boy Scout” (28"), 22 SHORT, Falling-Block

Lot # 362

According to The Remington Society Of America, the 4-S “American Boy Scout” rifle was only produced in 1913-1914 with less than 1500 produced. FULL HISTORY & SPECS: In 19...more13, there were three major rival scout organizations: The Boy Scouts of America, The Boy Scouts of the United States, and The American Boy Scout. This latter organization renewed an earlier request for a military-style, single-shot rifle suitable for their boys. This request was formally sent to Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Company, the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, Ridabeck & Co., and to J.C. Stevens Arms & Tool Company. On July 1, 1913, the American Boy Scout firearm's selection committee recommended adoption of the Remington No.4S Boy Scout rifle as their official arm: “We unhesitatingly recommend the arm submitted by the Remington Arms-UMC Co. to be adopted as the official rifle of the American Boy Scouts with the following changes: the barrel to be screwed into the frame instead of take-down (as submitted); and a new rear sight to be constructed with elevating cross bar.” The initial sales of Remington No.4-S Boy Scout rifles were funneled through the American Boy Scout organization. Remington’s stated goal was to get out a rifle for the boys who didn’t have enough money to buy an expensive rifle, and whom we wanted to have a Remington rifle in his hands. Only members of the American Boy Scouts could buy the rifle. Remington omitted the jobber and dealer and was able to sell the new rifle with bayonet directly to scouts for only $5. However, within a few months normal distribution channels were opened and the No.4-S Boy Scout rifle was sold to the general public for $8. (1913-14 Remington-UMC catalog). The catalog also stated: “The new Remington-UMC Boy Scout and Cadet Rifle is designed to meet the demand for an attractive and durable .22 cal. military arm of light weight for the younger generation. Its extreme accuracy and splendid handling qualities recommend it particularly for drill and target work. These features have caused it to be adopted by a number of the leading military academies throughout the country.” Characteristics of the No.4-S Boy Scout rifle include: a 28 inch round barrel fitted with a removable bayonet lug; a one-piece bayonet with leather scabbard was originally furnished with the rifle - very few survived (an original bayonet was sold on eBay in 2014 for $2,200); oil finished, American walnut stock (identical to that on No.4 sporting rifles) with a 23.25 inch military-style, tapered wood forearm, a 13.5 inch handguard, two barrel bands, and a stacking swivel; unique, small, military-type rear sight with ladder adjustment rear sight that was not used on any other Remington firearm; and a simple square metal blade front sight, dovetailed into the barrel. The Remington “Boy Scout Model” was replaced by the Remington Military Model rifle in 1914. Today, a fortunate few Remington Collections include an original Remington 4S musket; however, one marked "American Boy Scout" is quite uncommon. CONDITION: This rifle is showing wear but still retains an excellent sharp/ clean bore with no pitting, the construction is still solid and it appears to be in good working order. SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders.

1920s Savage Model 1919 NRA (25"), 22 LR, Bolt-Action Repeating Target Rifle, SN - 16927

Lot # 357

SPECS: Full length M1903 military style walnut stock with oiled finish & grooved forearm, grooved metal buttplate with Savage logo, 25" barrel with recessed muzzle, fully...more adjustable rear peep sight, dovetailed hooked blade front sight, period correct military style brown leather sling and original Savage 5-round steel magazine. CONDITION: This rifle is in nice condition with light wear, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: The Savage Model 1919 NRA rifle was introduced in 1919, and was designed with input from the National Rifle Association (NRA). It was developed in response to the growing popularity of smallbore competition after World War I which led many manufacturers to focus on creating match-grade rifles. It was produced in three models: 1st models had a small rectangular ejection port; 2nd models had the oval port, the trigger guard was inletted and the rifle was marked 1919 NRA; 3rd models had the oval port, trigger guard was not inletted nor 1919 NRA on the rifle. They were manufactured until 1933 at approximate serial number 45,000. They were then redesigned as the Model 1933. The very earliest of the 1933 design rifles were strangely and confusingly still known as NRA Model '19s, but of 1933 design, i.e., either referred to as the New SAVAGE MODEL 1919 NRA, or the Model 19-33. This quirk of nomenclature was fairly quickly rationalized with the rifle receiving the better-known title of "NRA Model 1933". Throughout the series of rifles, the National Rifle Association of America was always involved in the design and promotion of these "Match" target/training rifles, and thus afforded their approval of suitability for such use. The Model 1933 was produced until 1946. By the 1950s, Savage had introduced the Super Target Sport Model with a factory mounted scope, and priced at a whopping $120 depending on the specifications (approximately $2,000 in today's currency). SHIPPING - We offer free shipping anywhere within the continental US. All firearms must be sent to an FFL (or C&R if applicable) regardless of age or caliber. This includes antiques & muzzleloaders.
