Lot # 466

This Kimber Of Oregon Model 82 Single-Shot Silhouette Rifle was part of the 1986 U.S. Army Contract (SN - GM011326) and is stamped "U.S." on the receiver. This gun is fro...morem a former firearms wholesale distributor and is new-old-stock/ unfired (surplus) and comes with original paperwork. This gun will have a light scratch on the left side of the stock. Does not include box. Features include a smooth walnut target stock with adjustable sling rail under the forearm, black rubber buttpad with (3) spacers, 25" bull barrel with recessed target crown, Kimber fully adjustable rear peep sight, front globe sight and mounted scope bases. The Kimber of Oregon company was formed for the sole purpose of making and selling its "American Made" Model 82 rifle. While the first prototype Model 82 was actually completed by Jack Warne in 1977, it would take until January of 1980 before Kimber of Oregon, Inc. (KoO) was officially established at which time shipments of the Model 82 began. In November, 1986, the U.S. Army notified Greg Warne, then president of Kimber, of a contract opportunity. The United States and Marine Corps were looking for a new rimfire rifle to be used in three-position indoor matches and to train military marksmen. The contract would be for 10,000 rifles. Kimber Of Oregon was eventually granted two separate contracts to manufacture M82s to serve as the U.S. Military training rifle. This U.S. Contract helped to revive the then struggling company, but in the late 1980s, the company began to struggle again after a private stock offering fell short. In 1989, Kimber of Oregon was sold to Oregon timber baron Bruce Engel, who founded WTD Industries, Inc. Engel had difficulty running Kimber, and soon the company sought bankruptcy protection. In 1990, several former Kimber employees, including Dan Cooper, founded Cooper Firearms of Montana. In the mid-1990s, Kimber was reformed and today "Kimber Of America" manufactures a line of M1911-style handguns of excellent quality, as well as rifles.

Circa 1968 Daisy/Heddon V/L Rifle - 1 Of 19,000, 22 VL (18"), SN - A024504

Lot # 469

The Daisy/ Heddon V/L Rifle was only manufactured in 1968 & 1969. It was offered in three variants: V/L 0001 (first 1,000) sported wood stocks, had a name plate with the ...moreserial number and came with a case; V/L 0002 "Standard" sported plastic stocks with approximately 19,000 made; and V/L 0003 "Presentation" sported the same features as the first 1,000 except the customer could have their name put on the plate with approximately 4,000 made. The V/L ammunition consisted of a .22 caliber bullet with a small cylinder of propellant on the back and no primer. The rifle resembled a typical spring-air rifle, but the 2000 degree hot, high pressure air served not only to propel the projectile but also to ignite the propellant on the back of the V/L cartridge. The rifle uses a small, unique and well designed part called an Obturator (obturator/ignitor) to compress the air as it is pushed through a tiny hole. This air is heated enough as it is pushed through the small hole to ignite the powder of the caseless round. The V/L guns and ammunition were discontinued in 1969, after the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ruled that they constituted as a firearm, and Daisy, which was not licensed to manufacture firearms, decided to discontinue manufacture rather than become a firearm's manufacturer. This V/L does not show any wear to speak of. This gun is from a former firearms wholesale distributor and is believed to be new-old-stock/ unfired, but does not include box or paperwork.

Lot # 471

The V/L guns and ammunition were discontinued in 1969 after the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ruled that they constituted as a firearm, and Daisy, which was not licensed to manufacture firearms, decided to discontinue manufacture rather than become a firearm's manufacturer. This V/L does not show any wear to speak of. This gun is from a former firearms wholesale distributor and is believed to be new-old-stock/ unfired, but does not include box or paperwork.
