1932 Chevrolet Confederate

1932 Chevrolet Confederate

Lot # 520 (Sale Order: 24 of 114)

1932 Chevrolet BA Confederate Deluxe convertible coupe (or Cabriolet). Powered by 60 bhp, 194 cu. in. inline six-cylinder engine, three-speed full-synchromesh manual transmission, solid front axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, semi-floating rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes. Wheelbase: 109". This car was restored by marque specialist Pinky Randall in this spectacular yet authentic color combination. The car has had a recent valve job. Often called a “baby Cadillac,” the 1932 Chevrolet Confederate BA Series is widely recognized today as one of the best-looking cars of the Classic Era. Of all body styles offered, the 2/4-Passenger Convertible was arguably the most attractive with its clean lines, flowing fenders and extensive yet tastefully bright trim, along with a delightful rumble seat. Although Ford’s long awaited new models stole most of the headlines in 1932, Chevrolet produced a vehicle that was slightly ahead in both form and function, especially given the teething problems encountered by the 1932 Ford V8s. The Chevrolet model line, by comparison, offered a proven and smooth inline six-cylinder engine with overhead valves and a counter-balanced crankshaft, coupled to a full-synchromesh three-speed manual transmission. More user friendly and offering very similar performance, the 1932 Chevrolets delivered reliable and trouble-free driving. Pinky Randall, the renowned Michigan-based Chevrolet collector and historian, restored this 1932 Chevrolet Convertible approximately 30 years ago. The last owner acquired it in 1997 after his father, who was the prior owner, passed away. Despite the age of the restoration, the Chevrolet continues to present very well with its cream-colored body, brown fenders and red/orange-painted steel wire wheels. Exterior adornments include dual side-mounted spares and a rear-mounted luggage rack, as well as a rumble seat. This is a very fine 1932 Chevrolet BA Confederate...more
