1940 Buick Century Convertible Coupe

Lot # 635 (Sale Order: 31 of 97)

This is a very special opportunity to buy a very rare Buick. Finished in its original, documented Royal Maroon poly over a tan cloth top and with a sumptuous red interior, this beautiful 1940 Buick Century Model 66-C Convertible Coupe is powered by the factory original 'big series' Buick 320-cid overhead valve straight eight engine producing 141 hp with a 3-speed manual transmission. It is notable that only 542 Buick Century 66-C Convertible Coupes were made in 1940 (this one is #212). The car is well-optioned with its original optional locking dual sidemounted spares, 1940 also being the final year for this, while the car's road wheels are wrapped in wide white wall tires. Among the car's many attributes, 1940 was also the final year for the pre-war high-performance (100 mph is what Century denoted) Buick Convertible. It was also more of a luxury car than the Special, with four inches more wheelbase (126"). Just 16 of these special cars are known to survive in the Buick Club, but some have Special bodies and are on sedan frames so this is one of the best "real" Century convertibles out there, let alone on offer at any time. This car is thought to have had but five owners from new and comes with full ownership history. It has been in the hands of dedicated collectors since the 1950s. Fewer than 100 miles have been put on the car since the entire braking system was completely renewed, as well as a major tune-up, carb kit, rebuilt ethanol-resistant fuel pump, Optima battery, recently recored radiator, new water pump, hoses, clamps and fan belt. Nearly $3,000 in recent receipts convey with the car to document this work. A car cover, a transparent plastic convertible top cover and a copy of the original factory shop manual are also included....more

1960 Cadillac Series 62 Flat Top Sedan

Lot # 643 (Sale Order: 40 of 97)

1960 Cadillac Series 62 4-window, 4-door 'Flat Top' hardtop, powered by the Cadillac 390 ci./ 325 hp OHV V8 with automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes, power windows, power seats, power door locks, and air conditioning. This great Cadillac recieved a frame-on restoration in 1998, with the lustrous blue color provided by a premium Sikkens basecoat/clearcoat finish. The Cadillac is reported to have originally been a Nebraska car. It was acquired, in sound and relatively good condition, by the late Jerry Karasinski at a Michigan police impound auction in 1990. The subsequent restoration was completed in time for the Cadillac to make its show debut at the 1998 Cadillac & LaSalle Club Grand National in Long Island, NY. The Cadillac won its CLC Senior Award in 2004, after collecting a 2002 Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance Lion Award. 1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible

Lot # 647 (Sale Order: 44 of 97)

1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible - 280-hp 348-cid Turbo-Thrust V8 with 3x2 bbl. carburetors and Powerglide automatic transmission.Completely and authentically restored in the 1990s, this stunning red convertible has been seldom used but carefully maintained since. The exceptionally straight body exhibits excellent panel fit. Chrome and other bright work are remarkable throughout. The beautiful interior was completely renewed to its original 1960 appearance during the restoration. This Impala's optional triple-carbureted 280-hp 348-cid Turbo-Thrust V8 correctly carries the "GB" block code for that engine when specified with the car's Powerglide automatic transmission. The engine's March 1960 GM Tonawanda production code, "TO 305," precedes the April "04D" body production code, an authentic sequence. The Chevy's 1960 Roman Red exterior and red/white houndstooth interior are authentic to the car, per the #923 color and #874 trim codes stamped on its Fisher Body data plate. The white convertible top and clear rear window are in excellent condition and the power top cycles just as it should. A red boot is included for top-down motoring. The red floor covering is authentic-style "salt and pepper" reproduction carpeting. Options include rarely seen power windows, power steering and power brakes. The original AM radio is functional. The car's wide whitewall radial tires have almost no miles on them. An electric auxiliary radiator-cooling fan has been unobtrusively added for driving in slow-moving traffic. Ideal for warm-weather cruising, this head-turning and meticulously restored Impala, with its rare, powerful and authentic triple-carbureted 348 V8, is a wonderful example of one of the most desirable American convertibles from the "jet age" era....more
