IRISH PERCUSSION NAVEL BOARDING GUN "GODDARD". Irish percussion navel boarding gun with attached fold-down triangular bayonet. Flared brass barrel is 14" long and 1 3/8" wide at muzzle. Bayonet has a trigger shaped release at tang which opens up the 10" blade. Lock and hammer are scroll engraved and marked Goddard. Stock is very good and checkered at the wrist. Overall length of the gun is 30". Ramrod is missing. An interesting piece. 30"W. Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,500.

2 FRAMED CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA NOTARIES. The first is a one dollar note, dated June 2nd, 1862 from Richmond, VA; it is "tacked" to paper on the edges. The second is a fifty dollar note of the Confederacy, from Richmond, VA and dated Sept. 2nd, 1864. It is accompaniedby two contemporary postcards of Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. Both bills are in fair condition with some edge wear and wrinkling.small - 9"H - 10.75"W large - 14"H - 10.75"W. Estimated Value $100 - 150.

LOT OF 7 SHERIFF ITEMS INCLUDING COLT MODEL 1877. Colt model 1877 lightning revolver in 38 caliber with 3.5" barrel and no ejector. Nickle plated with 75-80 % plating. Brown hard rubber grips. As usual with these, the action needs a little work. Bore is very good. Comes with a period leather holster and carved belt with cartridgeloops, and a five pointed star circular sheriff’s badge. A home-made bowie knife with tooled sheath is also part of the set. Knife has a black leather washer handle and blade is 6.5" long. A pair of large nickle plated leg irons with key is also included. Final item is a photo of the previous owner dressed in white with a ten gallon hat. A neat original set that should always stay together. Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,500.

EARLY BRASS CAVALRY BUGLE. This is a very finely crafted bugle. It was probably issuedto a cavalry member or officer in a branch of the U.S. Military. This piece is unsigned by the maker, as were most "issued" bugles of the time, the long valve coils 3 times between the mouthpiece and the horn with some applied mounts at the base. In overall good condition,tarnished finish, with some misshaping to the horn. 12"W x 6"H x 4.5"D. Estimated Value $300 - 500.

PR. UNMARKED 50 CALIBER MUFF PISTOLS. Pair of unmarked muff pistols. Screw off barrels are close to 50 caliber, 3.5" long and made of Damascus steel. Frames and folding triggers are scroll engraved and the butt of the stocks have a steel clam shell patterned hinged trap that still contain some original percussion caps. The uncheckered grips appear to have a glazed finish applied. 3.5"W. Estimated Value $800 - 1,200.

OHIO CIVIL WAR DRUM W/ H. LAWRENCE PHOTO. Lot of two items. First is a beautiful Civil War drum from Ohio. Drum is 16" high and 17" in diameter with an American eagle painted on the front. Eagle has a banner in its mouth that reads "Reg US Infantry" and a shield at its breast. Has olive branch in right talon and arrows in left. Drum has a blue background with most paint solid but nicely aged. To the right of this painted area is a 7" wide section decorated with brass tacks which surround the view hole. There is no label left on the inside. This is an extremely nice drum with a later belt and drumsticks. Second item is a photo of the drummer, Corporal Henry Lawrence Smith of Company A, 70th Regiment, Ohio Infantry. This information is on a card at back of the photo which is dated 1862. Photo is in a gutta percha frame with a copper border. 16"W x 17"H. Estimated Value $5,000 - 7,500.

G.A.R. INDIANAPOLIS 1893 FLASK. Small round flask with cork stopper, is 4.5" in diameter with a 2.75" copper center with beaded edge. Front has 3 soldiers at the top and G.A.R. in large script at the center and 1861 to 1865 under that. Bottom of copper is dated 1893 and patented April 15 1889. Back side copper has a large war monument in relief and is enscribed Twenty Seventh National Encampment-Indianapolis 1893. Flask is in very good condition with small braided rope that has been broken and re-tied. 1.25"W x 4.5"H. Estimated Value $200 - 300.

Has a sharkskin with brass wire wrapped handle, and an iron guard with cutout eagle & US; complete with an eagle decorated blade and a metal scabbard. Left side has a pastoral scene with small city in background and right side has an illustration of God with Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden. To the left is an emblem relating to the Great Seal of the United States - the silouhetted eagle, in blue, is centered with a shield of red and white and holds an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other. Cased presentation set consists of a highly engraved replica Colt 1851 Navy revolver with highly figuredshoulder stock and silver plated brass yoke. A brass powder flask, bullet mold and silver plated percussion cap tin complete the accessories in the fitted, velvet lined wood case. A very limited production set in new, unfired condition. The blade is etched and blued; completewith a leather scabbard with brass mounts. Some tarnish and rusting to the blade with several small nicks to the edge, a couple of age cracks to the handle, scabbard is worn with a missing tip. 34.5"W x 5"H. Estimated Value $800 - 1,200.

Period Civil War dark blue jacket has a single row of 9 eagle buttons down the front, with a set of large 71st regimentbuttons on either side, complete with a fancy black 1/4" braid; the collars have a single gold braid over white stripe, finished with the small eagle buttons and epaulet mounts on the shoulders. Nonfunctional cuff with 4 gold-braided bars with buttons stacked under a single stripe. The back features a long swallowed tail with beige trim, braided stars and matching bars with buttons on either tail. Has a quality lined interior with inner pocket. Lock and breechblock retain fair amount of case colors, stock is excellent with crisp cartouche dated 1890. Trigger guard and trigger retain about 90% blue. A late trapdoor in seldom seen condition. Junction of barrel and tang is stamped H & P and the tang is dated 1861. Stock is missing 3 pieces, on both sides of top tang and directly behind the tang. R. CASHMORE 1830 MILITIA 69 CALIBER MUSKET. Percussion militia musket with 69 caliber 39" barrel. Barrel is 16 sided for first 12 inches and round for the rest. It’s stamped C M and the number 1630. Lockplate is marked R Cashmore Warranted in 3 lines and is lightly engraved as is the hammer. Brass fittings are bright, wood full length stock is fastened with three wedges and has a brass nose cap 3" from muzzle and a dished cheekpiece. Has a 3/4" wide band of checkering that starts at back of the trigger guard extension and crosses wrist of stock to other side of extension. Barrel is finished bright with scattered light pitting and it has a bayonet lug on bottom. 39mmW. Estimated Value $600 - 800.

Base of shell has a 1/4" disc riveted on with a 1 5/8" deep hole in center and 8 hollow flutes inside. Very unusual. Inside base has been drilled & threaded for display. Estimated Value $400 - 600.

MODEL 1814 US FLINTLOCK RIFLE MARKED US SNY. 54 caliber, 33.5" barrel has a pitted bore and is marked P over US on left flat and SNY on top flat. Barrel is part octagon and part round. Wood stock is in fine condition, has oval patchbox on right side, raised cheekpiece with dish at top on left side and an oval cartouche with a V over it on flat opposite lock. This gun was converted to percussion and then re-converted back to flintlock. The current lock is stamped US. This rifle was most likely made by S. Cogswell of Troy, New York. A rare gun. 33.5"W. Action retains about 75% blue and barrel is a mix of brown and blue. Wood stocks are in good condition. Bore is poor to fair. Bottom half of the barrel which is hidden by the stock has a beautiful browned Damascus finish and there are two platinum bands at the back of the barrel. Wood stock is in good shape and is nicely checkered. Top tang and trigger guard are lightly engraved. Ramrod is most likely a replacement. Action works well. 8.5mmW. Estimated Value $700 - 900.

EARLY SCOTTISH BLACK WATCH DIRK - C 1770'S. The blade has a narrow and a wide fuller with a file-worked spine. The rounded baluster style hilt is carved in a Celtic interlace design and has white metal ferrules with high relief thistle and leaf pattern. The grip also has white metal studs. A clear cairngorm stone is inset on the pommel. The small utility knife has a small cairngorm stone and has a ferrule at the pommel that matches that on the dirk. The small fork has a slightly different color cairngorm and the ferrule at the pommel has a similar but not identical design. Both of these have identical wood handles carved in a Celtic interlace design with white metal studs. The black leather scabbard has engraved white metal mounts with applied thistles. The scabbard has shrunk and the blade does not fully seat. Rust and pitting to the blade, otherwise excellent condition. 3"W x 14.5"H. Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.

Metal has a brown to almost bronze tint to it, wood stock is good but has an eye-hook and rubber donut threaded into left side of butt used to mount gun on wall. Stock also has a metal tag tacked on left side with the number 33 on it. Front of barrel has a clip-on piece that covers the bottom 2/3 of the barrel and provides a channel for the cleaning rod. One brass loop for carrying strap is missing. Has initials HMC and HC carved in side. Front of box is stamped Blakeslees cartridge box over U.S. over Patd. Dec …. the rest is too faint to read. The second item is an original carrying strap with large hook and small hook for the cartridge box. Strap is about 1.25" wide and about 43.5" long with hooks. Most likely engraved after it was first made-possibly sent back to the factory and certainly worth a search. Barrel and lever assembly are plated, cylinder, frame and backstrap are engraved steel. Brass trigger guard and front strap are also engraved. Barrel is marked Address Col. Sam L. Colt New-York U.S. America in one line. Tight, well-fitting wood grips still retain inspection cartouche on both sides which lead us to believe this work was done after it left the factory. Engraving is very well executed and retains at least 80% of the gold wash. SN# is 662xx and all numbers match. Gun is in excellent condition. Estimated Value $4,000 - 6,000.

He was enlisted on March 4th, 1864 and discharged June 29th 1866 at Denver City CO. Letter notes that he was 5’ 7.5" tall, fair skin and blue eyes. His occupation when enrolled was "fireman". Has some illegible, period marginalia. The second letter is a document noting that Capt. B.F. Reed of the CSA loaned 2 "manable" mules to J.H. Hays and "illegible" on Sept. 12th, 1864. The final pieces are 2 period soldiers hymns titled "Ellsworth’s Avengers" & "Rock Me To Sleep Mother". All are in good condition. Estimated Value $300 - 500.

The banner is royal blue with gold fringe and has a hand stitched emblem with a sailor & 3 flags on the left, a shield with crossed swords in the middle and an army soldier on right with 3 flags. Above this is an eagle with an overhead banner that says Filit Veteranorum and below is a banner that reads Gratia Dei Servatus. Top of banner isembroidered General George B. McClellan Camp No. 74 over Yonkers, N.Y. at center, left of emblem is "Organized" & right of emblem May 9, 1895. Bottom of banner has Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. All letters are in gold. 12 LB. CANNON ON IRON CARRIAGE MOUNT DATED 1837. 57" tube mounted on an iron carriage with an 11.5" wheel at the tail along with a towing loop and a 2" socket for adjusting aim. 44" wood wheels have 14 spokes and 3" wide metal rims. Tube is stamped US above the trunnions. Stock or trail of the carriage has a wooden box section about 20" long with cut-outs for tools and accessories. The lid for this box is missing. It appears that this tube has been adapted to this carriage by fabricating an adapter plate. There are two metal brackets (one on each side of the tube) about 17" long which probably held ammunition boxes. This is a large, impressive cannon with a 10" muzzle swell. Top tang is marked "malf" 1777 and top of barrel is marked A, and what appears to be a French horn, then N. 77. Stock has the letters TARN carved on right side of stock above a round cartouche about the size of a quarter. Left side of butt-stock is dished for cheek and butt-plate is marked CLL 15. Starting at the base of the handle, the dagger has a domed pommel with a vertical oak leaf design, the orange celluloid handle has a spiral ribbed design running to a horizontal ferrule with more oak leaves, and the cross-guard has the German Army eagle, holding a wreath with a swastika in its talons. The ends of the cross-guard have a scrolled design with a silvered finish. The double edged stiletto-style blade is 10" long and bears the maker's proof mark for the Carl Eickhorn Firm of Solingen. The scabbard has an alligatored texture and 2 oak leaf bands with rings to mount to hanging straps. Complete with a hanging silver "Portepee" or sword-knot. 16"W x 3"H. Estimated Value $500 - 750.

Second is a copper and brass flask by G & JW Hawksley with ornate clamshell design on front and back. Has four eyelets for carrying and is marked for 3 to 4 drams in 1/4 dram increments. Third is very similar to second but unmarked and of a little lesser quality. Fourth is a plated metal flask in poor to fair condition. Has a broken cork stopper and is still filled with powder. Second is a 23" piece of trim that was milled by a furniture company from North Carolina. You can see where two lead bullets were milled flat by the molding machine. Third item is really special, it’s a section of tree almost 4’ tall and 9" across with a 10 lb. parrot artillery shell buried almost to the base of the shell. Tree came from the Chickamauga, GA battlefield, Cloud Place near Snodgrass Hill. This was presented to the owner of Eastover by the 1st Co. Governor’s Horse Guard from Avon, Connecticut. HALF-STOCK 57 CALIBER PERCUSSION KENTUCKY STYLE RIFLE. Very heavy half-stock percussion Kentucky style rifle converted from flintlock. 47" barrel is about 57 caliber and is 1 inch across the flats. Has a surprisingly good bore. Top of barrel is marked S Allen in script. Silas Allen opened a shop in Shrewsbury, MA in 1796 and worked until 1843. Rifle has brass mountings includinga nice patchbox which is expertly inlaid in the stock. Stock is nicely figured and has two period repairs. The first is at the wrist and it’s repaired with a 2.5" wide band of brass wrapped around and tacked with brass nails. It really adds character. The second is a crack in front of the lock which was repaired with nails and filled - a good job. I think this used to be a full stock rifle. Lockplate is marked Ketland & Co. with two other lines above which are partially obscured by pitting. This is a great looking rifle by a very talented colonial gun maker. Left side of the butt-stock has the number87 stamped on it and right side has a round cartouche with Pimlico on top, 1861 on the bottom and a smaller circle inside with a crown and downward arrow with W on left and O on right. Mounted on a wood carriage with 49" wood wheels with 16 spokes and iron hobnail hubs. Gun and carriage is about 79" wide from hub to hub. Tube is about 74" long and is stamped with a large US at top slightly behind trunnions. Trail or stock is approximately 8’ long and has a pintle hook and two iron loops for aiming along with two rectangular handles on each side of tail. Wooden carriage and wheels are painted a nice buff color and all metal is painted black. This was one of the cannons used to open the Tanglewood music season each year. Second is an odd shaped oval brass mold of 46 caliber stamped 16. Third is an unmarked 50 caliber round ball. Fourth is a 36 caliber conical mold marked 120. Fifth is a double cavity, round and conical 36 caliber mold marked Colt’s Patent. Sixth is a primer seating tool marked B.G.I. CO. over 1182 next to a large 8. This was made for a very large shell having a rim diameter of 1.03 inches. Seventh is a 1/2" wood chisel marked "W. Butcher Cast Steel" in two lines on one side and a round mark over an arrow pointing down over a Maltese cross. Eighth is a wood handled triangular scraping tool with sharpened sides also marked "W. Butcher Cast Steel". Ninth is an 11" long unmarked pair of clamps with 3 tines. Ten and eleven are brass buttplates with nice patina, one has a long, nicely engraved top extension. Last is a brass trigger guard with pointed tail and heart-shaped front. Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.

This rifle has the special long range rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked U.S. over JCB over an oval P, and the barrel tang is dated 1843. Metal finish is arsenal bright. A very nice example. The stock has several cracks and is retained by 3 large bands and a nosecap. Mountings appear to be brass with very dark verdigris. The lock is almost 7" long and the hammer is 5.5" tall. Fine specimen, designed in the key of "G", as specified by the military, with a tuning slide on the "palm side" bringing the tone all the way down to the key of "F". This bugle is signed on the obverse side of the horn "U.S. Regulation - Made In U.S.A." Horns issued by the U.S. military were never marked by the maker, they usually read "U.S.M.C. or U.S.Q.M.C or U.S.N." addressing the particular service branch, pieces signed by the maker were civilian pieces. The US Regulation was adopted by the Boy Scouts and the military as early as the 1920’s. This bugle is in working condition, the brass is tarnished, and the horn has two dents at the end of the flair, tuning slide is good and free, the body is free of physical damage, the mouthpiece is missing. 6"W x 16"H x 4.25"D. Mounted on metal carriage with 37" steel wrapped wood wheels with 12 spokes and brass hubs. Gun is approximately40" wide from outside hub to outside hub. Tube is 46" long. Back of breech has SN188 and is dated 1891. Sliding breech mechanism is smooth and this gun is in very good condition. Wheels and carriage are painted gray and all the brass is excellent. Several of these were used at San Juan Hill in the Spanish American War. Estimated Value $30,000 - 40,000.

MASSIVE 70 CALIBER PERCUSSION SWIVEL GUN. 37" barrel of about 70 caliber. Has a very good bore. The adjustable ladder rear sight with folded down settings for 100, 200 and 300 yards. Staff is graduated up to 1300 yards. Gun is 62" overall and weighs at least 50 lbs. Action has a cleat at center top and a removable breech that is loaded when removed from the gun and re-inserted and locked down by a pivoting block at the back of the breech that extends along the right side of the action. A huge trigger guard and a rounded loop behind it to aid in traversing the barrel. The side of the barrel is dated 1866. Large buttstock, several inspection marks and a large circular stamp on right side that is dated 1866. Front sight is banded and retained by a screw under the barrel. An extremely rare and novel gun. Wood stock has a couple of minor cracks and an extra channel 5 3/8" long at bottom of the stock behind the first band. Missing ramrod. This Civil War veteran deserves a good cleaning and restoration. MANN EXPERIMENTAL BREECHLOADING CANNON. 3 3/8" rifled bore which fired a 12 lb. shell. Tube is 59" long and has an integral 1.5" tall front sight cast with the barrel. Gun has a U-shaped tube about 36" long that extends from the trunnions to the back of the breech. Gun is loaded by lifting the barrel to expose the open breech end. A shell is loaded first then a bag of powder. The barrel is then lowered back into the rear of the yoke which acts as the breech. This tube is mounted on a period four wheeled carriage with two 44" and two 36" wood wheels. The folks at Eastover report that only two of these Mann guns were built, both of which are in this auction. Estimated Value $40,000 - 60,000.

Has special folding leaf near the sight with two windows graduated to 900 paces. All metal is a uniform brown with light surface pitting. Lock is marked with the number 862 indicating manufacture in 1862. Wood stock is in great condition and has a large K carved into it in front of the trigger guard. BELGIAN DRILLING. Very ornate Belgian drilling in 16 x 16 x 9.5 x 47R. Eight gold game scene inlays on receiver and gold wire inlays and bands at breech end of barrels. Butt-stock is beautifully checkered and carved on both sides and has a bullet trap in the nicely engraved buttplate. Shotgun barrels retain virtuallyall of their Damascus pattern. Rifle bore is very good but shotgun bores are pitted. Forend is a crude replacement and action is slightly loose and off the face. Pop-up tang sight is broken at the base and missing, pop-up middle sight is present and functional. This gun deserves a restoration. Barrels are marked in gold, V. Trillson and Nirnberg. This collection begins with one of the finest ambrotypes we have; It is 3 3/8" x 2 5/8", a top portrait quality projection on glass and backed with glass, seated in a daguerreotype box with a black felt back behind the image. The gold frame is signed "Spooner Bro’s - July 11, 1864" and the image is of John Graves. John was the father of William R Graves (ambrotype #2), enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1863 and discharged on disability 5 months later. He served on the USS Ohio and the USS Niagara during the Civil War; this smaller portrait is also very fine with no noted losses. The other two portraits are William’s sons, both in uniforms, one posed with a drum (damaged glass) and the other with his arm rested on his sword. This is a great piece of history and 4 very fine sharp images with zero scratches, the grandson (drummer) has a large chip (missing) at the top. Estimated Value $700 - 900.

The collars have a single gold braid and light blue stripe, finished with the small buttons and epaulet mounts on the shoulders. Nonfunctional cuff with 4 stacked gold-braided bars with buttons (1 missing). The back features a long swallowed tail with thin gold braiding, and matching bars with buttons on either tail (6 buttons missing right side). Has a quality lined interior with inner pocket. FRENCH & INDIAN WAR 60 CAL. FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Ornate flintlock pistol with 12.75", 60 caliber barrel. Iron mountings include heavy butt cap with long tangs inletted into both sides of the grip and a very nice skeletonized sideplate. Stock has numerous wire inlays in the grip area along with some relief carving. It appears that a portion of the stock may have been cut back, the ramrod ferrule is missing and there is one hole for a pin fastener but the lug on the bottom of the barrel for it is missing. Barrel has three shields with wheat sheaves engraved on them on the flats next to the frizzen. Five Roman Numeral 1’s and three smaller shields. Estimated Value $500 - 750.

This is from WW2, the cover is a dark seascape battle scene with multiple battleships; the title reads "Get Your Might Into The Fight!" Complete with a war rations stamp book #4 from the "United States of America Office of Price Administrations"; the book is stamped number "670547" and still has a number of different ration stamps, attached and in good condition. The coat is trimmed in 1/2" black braided trim and decorated with "Red Tubrelar" silk braids around each button, the collar, above the cuffs and down the back. Has a 3 button non-functional cuff with small Ohio state buttons. Quality inner lining with a left hand inner pocket; in the pocket is the original makers tag "The M.C. Lilly & Co. Columbus, OH". Has square coat tails with braids and buttons above. Complete with shoulder board (epaulette) mounts. In very good condition, no moth wear, lining is good and the trim is crisp. HARPERS FERRY MODEL 1841 PERCUSSION RIFLE. Also known as a Mississippi rifle. 54 caliber having a 33" barrel with a large percentage of it’s brown finish remaining. Has fair amount of pitting in the nipple area of the barrel. Lockplate has an eagle over US in front of the hammer and Harpers Ferry 1853 in three lines behind the hammer. Brass mountings are bright and shiny. Wood stock is very good with one old crack from front sideplate screw to barrel (4.5" long) and a small cut-out in the wrist where an initial shield used to be. There are no visible cartouches. Pitting has obscured standard barrel marks and date of breech. Has V notch ream sight, brass blade front and there is no provision for a bayonet. Ramrod is a replacement and extends about 3/4" beyond muzzle. A nice example of America’s most handsome percussion rifle. Also comes with a very nice period powder horn 16" long with two notched collars, wooden plug and a large base with three grooves carved in. Two of them notched. Estimated Value $2,000 - 3,000.

COLT'S MODEL 1883 - .45 CALIBER GATLING GUN. Magnificent Colt model 1883 gatling gun. Brass encased 10 barrelcluster and breech section is about 50" long. The trunnion strap is engraved "Manuf by Colt Pat. F.A. Mfg. Co. U.S.A. Hartford Conn". The inspector’s initials J.C.A. are marked rightbelow the housing for the Accles feed mechanism. Below this is a raised oval plate engraved"Gatling Gun" on top and "Patented" on the bottom. There is a narrow sight glass 1.5" long in the middle of the plate. Below the plate is engraved "Model 1883 No. 358 Cal 45" in 3 lines. The gun is mounted on a steel frame with steel yoke and two 53" long round steel tubes which act as a trail. These tubes set inside a brass yoke with a towing hook at the front of the gun. A second brass yoke that also acts as ammunition box supports in the middle and a third brass yoke with pintle hook at the tail. The carriage has two wooden wheels approximately 45" high with 16 spokes and iron rims; the wood has been painted gray and black. The ammunition boxes are newly made out of poplar but the original brass corners, handles, hinges, mounting plates and latching hardware were all used in the re-construction. They have been painted black as have the steel portions of the carriage. This fully functional Gatling gun in outstanding condition would be the absolute centerpiece of any gun collection.This particular Gatling gun is one of the 1883 patent through Colt. It has 10 rotating .45 caliber barrels fully encasedin a bronze jacket. Multiple barrels allowed for each to cool down between shots. The side mounted hand crank allows a firing rate over 600 rounds per minute, some models featured a rear-mounted crank which had a higher firing rate. The cartridges are contained in a flat donut-shaped "Accles" mechanical drum feeder, mounted on top, which was developed for this gun and the cartridges are gravity fed into the chamber. It is signed "Gatling Gun Patented - 1883 - No 358 Cal .45". $175,000 - $250,000

1863 MODEL SPRINGFIELD W/ BAYONET. Type I, 58 caliber with 40" barrel. Lock is dated 1863 behind the hammer and has an American eagle in the front of the hammer and on the bolster along with U. S. over Springfield. Hammer retains all of it’s case colors and lockplate has 30 - 40% colors. Barrel is dated 1863 with VP over eagle on the left flat. Bands, nosecap and barrel are bright and shiny like they left the arsenal last week. Stock is like new (may have extra coat of varnish added) except for area on flat opposite lock where there’s a burn mark about 3" by 1.5"- no cartouche. Third band is stamped U on the left and N on the right, middle band is stamped U on the left and J on the right, first band has a C stamped on the top left. Rifle comes with bayonet, scabbard and frog. A very hard to improve on example. Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.

Classic Nimsche style engraving has a wolf’s head on left side of the receiver. Mother of pearl grips are very good with one small chip at the bottom front edge of the right grip. This pistol was pictured on the cover of the first edition of Jim Supicas outstanding book on Smith and Wesson pistols.
