This book in the series dealing with some aspect of human reproductive physiology is addressed primarily to men. It does not consider what are generally thought of as venereal diseases, though fungal and tuberculous infections are discussed. Emphasis is on various physiological dysfunctions, anatomical variations and disruptions, and, of course, normal function. There is a whole chapter on the influence of the brain on function of the generative organs. There are chapters on spermatorrhea (more commonly known today by the vernacular term 'wet dream'), on masturbation (a sixty-nine page chapter reviews the opinions of authorities from Hippocrates to Deslandes), and on impotence.
