1895 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin - Proof Strike in Fine Condition "King of Morgan Silver Dollars"
Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 433)
Only 880 of these coins were not melted down under the provisions of the Pittman Act of 1918.
This will be a cash equivalent sale only. Buyer's Premium for this lot is 13%.
This coin has been in a private collection since the 1950's. The seller's Grandfather would buy coins from Powhatan Bank when they came in. He received a call from the Bank Manager and bought this coin at the bank. He then presented the coin to his grandson on his 18th birthday. In the early 1980's the Seller took the coin to be graded. Based upon the cost at the time they choose RCGS (which is still in business today). After the coin was graded PCGS called with a lower price to grade the coin. Since they already paid to have it graded it remains in the RCGS holder. Since the 1950's this coin has been viewed by only very close friends and relatives of the seller.
The seller upon request of the buyer will put the history of this coin from the 1950's in a written statement and have his signature notarized.
