1958 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE FUEL-INJECTED HARDTOP

Lot # 1289.1 (Sale Order: 64 of 248)

While many performance enthusiasts dismissed Pontiac as nothing more than a maker of reliable but mundane family cars during the mid-1950s this staid image was irrevocably shattered when Semon Bunkie Knudsen assumed leadership to become the youngest General Manager of a GM Division in July 1956. Developed as a traffic-generator for Pontiac dealers the 1957 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible was named after Pontiacs mid-1950s show cars and in commemoration of a record-breaking Pontiac speed effort at Utahs famed Bonneville Salt Flats. When released for sale it was the rarest Pontiac model built at the time with production limited to 630 units or one per Pontiac dealer. Announced on December 2 1956 and unveiled to the public on January 11 1957 the Bonneville Convertible carried a lofty base price of $5782 and came only one way - fully loaded. Air conditioning and an externally mounted spare tire were the only options available. Published reports estimated the output of its fuel-injected engine at 315 bhp and despite considerable size and weight the Bonneville was a strong performer. A success from the start the original Bonneville gave rise to a two-model series in 1958 with a new Sport Coupe joining the Convertible. Extremely rare this sympathetically restored example is offered from the Gordon Apker Collection. Retaining the original Copper and White two-tone interior and possibly a repainted exterior in Copper it is accented by good chrome full hubcaps and whitewalls. Highly equipped features and options include a Wonder Bar radio power antenna power brakes power steering and 4-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission. It has 88183 original miles. An optional flip-down sun visor is installed as well. A true American automotive icon from the 1950s this fuel-injected 1958 Bonneville is historically significant as the first of many high-performance models produced during the following decades by Pontiac.

Lot # 1290.1 (Sale Order: 67 of 248)

This truck goes as good if not better than it looks. Mike Dillon General Manager of Richard Childress Racing doesnt believe in show but no go and for this reason he dropped off a rusted old 65 Chevy C10 to Jim Smith of Street Customs and Restorations in Mooresville NC. Jim was recruited to make the Chevy streetable with a stance that looked good supporting 20/22 wheels add a little more power and it could only be one color: black. Arriving in one piece the 65 Chevy was stripped down chassis pulled from the cab and the body set aside. A test fitment was done with the Jim Myers Racing chassis. In between the frame rails lies a GM Performance Parts Ram Jet 502ci engine with 502hp and 565 ft/lbs of torque mated to a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. Dressing up the Ram Jet are Billet Specialties pulleys Street and Performance chromed intake and one-off air intake with dual filters. Street and Performance block-hugger headers and an MSD ignition give the big-block even more power. Huge Brembo brakes with 6-piston calipers were bolted onto each corner to slow the truck from speed and look impressive behind each custom Foose Nitrous Legend wheel. Rimz One also in Mooresville supplied the 20 and 22 wheels and wrapped them in BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW tires. Even in primer the C10 was looking the part of a track-day warrior but a little show never hurt anyone and Jim and the Street Customs team switched their focus to the body.

Lot # 1291.1 (Sale Order: 69 of 248)

This matching-numbers 1967 Chevrolet Corvette has won Bloomington Gold Certification and three NCRS Top Flight Awards. Its exclusivity can be found in part in its highly unusual color combination: only 815 of the 22940 Corvettes produced in 1967 bore this cars code 900AA Tuxedo Black paint and even fewer matched that with its code 455AC white on black interior finish. Both remain in fantastic as-new condition and are beneficiaries of a comprehensive frame-off restoration performed without regard for expense. The sharply sculpted hood bulge and white stinger decorating this stunning showpiece denote the presence of the big-block V8 engine hidden within in this case the L36 version employing a single Holley 4-barrel carburetor on a cast-iron intake manifold 10.25:1 compression and a hydraulic-lifter camshaft. They are mated to a 4-speed manual transmission backed by a posi-traction rear end its factory rating of 390hp and 460 ft/lbs of torque were somewhat misleading as those figures were reached at 5400 rpm and 3600 rpm respectively well below the indicated 6000 rpm redline. Previously part of a prominent Corvette collection this 1967 big-block coupe is equipped with power steering and brakes Soft Ray tinted glass an AM/FM radio and 3-piece Rally wheels. It remains in splendid condition throughout. 1972 OLDSMOBILE HURST PACE CAR CONVERTIBLE

Lot # 1292 (Sale Order: 70 of 248)

As one of the 54 Indy 500 Pace Car Convertibles built and used as a Festival 500 Parade Car at the track to pace the Indy 500 race in 1972 this vehicle is one of the lowest-production Oldsmobiles ever built. This particular vehicle was car #11 driven by the 500 Festival Committee Director Robert Kiley Jr. Fewer than 50 of the 130 convertible pace cars built are still known to exist. The W45 on the Cowl Tag as well as the 03B build date (second week of March) indicates that this is in fact one of the 54 cars used at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the parade and display purposes before the 1972 race. The odometer showing 32265 miles (mileage not indicated on the title) is known to be original as the car was in storage since 1974 before being fully restored and preserved to the original factory specifications. This vehicle has accumulated less than 700 test miles since its complete restoration/preservation. This very fine example still retains all of its original sheet metal as well as all the original interior components including the iconic Hurst dual-gate shifter and Rally sport steering wheel. Its also equipped with power windows power seat Rally Pack gauges Tic-Toc-Tach and factory interior hood lock. It also retains the very rare Oldsmobile exterior thermometer as well as the exclusive Indy 500 dash plaque. It is also equipped with factory air conditioning which appeared on fewer than half of the original run of Hurst/Olds coupes and convertibles. These cars were rated at 270hp for insurance reasons only as the horsepower rating was changed from engine horsepower to rear wheel horsepower in 1972. It comes from a large collection of ultra-rare Oldsmobiles as well as the largest collection of Hurst vehicles in the country. This car was also used to create the models for Revell as well as the 1/18th scale Acme die-cast models featuring the legendary Linda Vaughn Miss Hurst Golden Shifter. Automatic transmission.

This car has been in a private collection for the last 17 years. Built on November 5 1969 at the Baltimore Assembly Plant in Baltimore MD after completion it was shipped to King Pontiac Inc. in Gaithersburg MD for delivery to the first registered owner. The current owner commissioned this Judge convertible to have a no-expense-spared frame-off restoration in 2007. Since completion it has been on display at the Floyd Garrett Muscle Car Museum. The Judge was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal and the entire drivetrain was rebuilt. The body of this vehicle was gone over from front to back and the body fit is laser-straight and better than new. Once the body was prepared it was given a fresh coat of the correct Cardinal Red (code R) using the best modern DuPont base coat/clear coat paint. The red interior and white convertible top were carefully done as well. The frame was stripped and all chassis components were replaced and/or refinished in the correct original-factory finishes. The engine was sent out and completely rebuilt. The 400ci Ram Air III engine block was honed and new pistons rings and bearings were installed. The crank was also checked and lightly refinished. The Ram-Air cylinder heads were checked and given a valve job along with new valves and valve springs. Everything was reassembled and the entire engine assembly was given a coat of the correct Pontiac engine paint. No stone was left unturned and the interior was completely redone with nothing but the best of correct materials. All instruments and gauges were checked for operation and repaired or replaced if necessary. All wire harnesses were replaced with new. The restoration on this GTO is factory-correct right down to the correct T-3 headlamps and original-style Firestone white-lettered tires. This car comes with a complete set of Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) paperwork original Build Sheet and Pontiac Division Window Sticker.
