Colt Python Target Model Double Action Revolver

Lot # 1000 (Sale Order: 1 of 805)      

serial #LA8173, 38 Special, 8'' full lug ventilated rib barrel with an excellent bore. This version of Colt's famous snake gun is scarce with less than 3500 made in blue finish. This 1980-made gun retains about 98% original blue with light muzzle wear, turn ring on the cylinder and a few other minor handling marks. The un-numbered checkered walnut factory target grips with gold Rampant Colt medallions rate excellent. The revolver features a serrated ramp front sight, Colt black blade Accro rear sight and the lettering on the barrel has been gold color filled. The revolver includes the original factory woodgrain box with Styrofoam insert that is correctly end-labeled and numbered to the gun, manual and Colt ''coin'' screwdriver. The box rates about good to very good with light edge wear, scuffing and is missing one dust flap on each end of the box and the screwdriver rates good with thinning original finish on both sides. The gun still times and locks up correctly and shows only light use. This beautiful Python ''California Target'' revolver has many of the things collectors desire such as condition, rarity, accessories and is a sound investment. serial #91942SA, 45 Colt, 7 1/2'' barrel with an excellent bore. This lovely 1978-made standard frame revolver is one of about 498 made with the full blue frame and appears to be as-new in the box. The metal surfaces retain about 99% plus original blue finish. The un-numbered smooth walnut factory grips with gold Rampant Colt medallions rate excellent. The gun includes the original factory woodgrain box with Styrofoam insert that is correctly end-labeled and numbered to the gun. The box rates about good with light to moderate edge wear, scuffing, one end is missing both dust flaps, the other end flap shows light tearing on the fold. The factory issued an Alaska Pipeline Commemorative in 1977 with full blue frame and there was an overrun of 200 full blue frames plus another 298 frames with poor case-hardened colors that were issued as full blue frame with 7 1/2'' barrels chambered in 45 Colt within the 90,000 serial number range (Colt's SAA Post War Models by George Garton). The revolver retains 99% plus original nickel plate. The two-piece factory ivory grips with silver colored Rampant Colt medallions are numbered to the gun and rate excellent. The left panel is mostly cream colored but the right panel shows light toffee colored figure. The revolver includes a factory maroon picture box with Styrofoam insert that is correctly end-labeled and numbered to the gun and rates excellent overall showing a light tear on one of the end flaps. Rare Colt Commander Model Semi-Auto Pistol in 30 Luger

Lot # 1005 (Sale Order: 6 of 805)      

serial #CLW010502, 30 Luger, 4 1/4'' barrel with an excellent bore. Colt made about 500 Commanders in 30 Luger for export to Italy in 1971 but 5 guns remained in the U.S. making any of them rare and highly desirable. This gun has an Italian proof on the right front triggerguard bow indicating it was probably purchased in Italy and brought back to the states. This lovely Series 70 Lightweight Commander remains in excellent condition with about 99% original blue and anodized finishes showing minor high edge wear, very light assembly scratches on the left side of the frame and the slide is toning to plum. The checkered walnut factory grips with gold Rampant Colt medallions rate excellent. The barrel is interesting as it is manufactured with one locking lug but the slide is cut for two and the chamber is marked ''CAL. 30 LUGER''. The pistol includes the original two-piece woodgrain factory box that is correctly end-labeled and numbered to the gun, a pair of factory magazines marked ''COLT / CAL. 30 LUGER'' on the baseplate and manual. The box rates about very good with light scuffing on the cover edges but one end of the base is tearing along the sides. This gun has seen some light use but remains in excellent condition. This lovely 1959 – 1960-made revolver remains in excellent condition with about 97% original blue showing light high edge wear, turn ring on the recessed cylinder and scratches. The .500'' target trigger and .500'' target hammer retain bold case-hardened colors with light to moderate operational wear, heaviest on the upper left side of the trigger. This gun has a lovely set of diamond checkered walnut factory ''coke bottle'' grips with silver S&W medallions that rate near excellent with a few light dents. The gun features a red ramp front sight and white outline micro adjustable rear sight. The original factory red insert has been replaced with a translucent red insert that was left proud of the sight face. The gun includes a factory mahogany presentation case, screwdriver, cleaning rod, bore mop, bore brush and manual. The case rates about very good to excellent with light handling marks, light specks of paint and the right front mitered corner is starting to separate. The molded Styrofoam interior rates very good showing strong flocking throughout with light edge wear and soiling. The bore brush and mop show moderate to heavy use and the manual has an oil stain. This beautiful revolver has seen light but honest use and is a nice find for the collector or 44 magnum aficionados. (89132-5) {C&R}

The fully checkered hardwood grips rate excellent. This single action only gun features the following blue finished parts: semi-ramped green dot front sight, Wilson Combat black blade Bo-Mar style rear sight, oversized magazine release, ambidextrous frame mounted thumb safeties (ala 1911), slide stop, beavertail grip safety with memory pad and checkered flat mainspring housing plus other features including competition match trigger with overtravel stop and scalloped double slide serrations. The gun includes an aluminum Performance Center locking hard case, (3) factory magazines, manual, fired case, Wilson Combat Practical TA1 strong side right hand hip holster and Bladetech strong side right hand Kydex hip holster. The case shows some light dents and dings on the outside but rates about very good overall. The holsters rate very good but the soft suede lining in the Wilson Combat holster is starting to separate. The satin stainless steel surfaces rate excellent with a few very light partial turn rings on the cylinder. The checkered rubber factory Pachmayr Presentation grips rate excellent. This gun features a silver finished Leupold M8-2X EER pistol scope in 3 ring TSOB mounts on a Weaver style base and the factory black serrated ramp front sight is present. This beautiful gun is housed in a blue felt-lined French fit factory oak presentation case that rates excellent showing very light scratches on the cover. The interior has a blackened brass plaque that reads ''454 FIELD GRADE / PRE-PRODUCTION SERIES / ONE OF TWO HUNDRED FIFTY''. Also included are a manual and a set of keys for the brass mounted sliding clasps. This fine gun appears to have seen little if any use. Weatherby Athena D'Italia Boxlock Double Ejectorgun

serial #FS0560, 20 ga., 26'' screw-in choke barrels with excellent bores. The barrels, forearm iron, top lever, triggerguard and safety retain about 99% plus original blue that has no visible signs of wear. The coin finished Anson & Deeley style frame rates excellent and features sideplates with factory foliate scroll engraving with about 90% coverage. The English walnut splinter forearm and straight grip buttstock rate excellent and feature Scottish pattern checkering and have some lovely rich straight grain patterns. The buttstock is fitted with a solid recoil pad and has a length of pull to the forward trigger of about 14 3/8'' and has drops of about 1 1/4'' and 2''. Features include double triggers and ejectors. The rifle is set in a custom red and green hardwood laminate oversized benchrest stock that features a wide beavertail forearm with aluminum reinforcing plate, an adjustable buttplate and a bench block mounted along the toe line of the buttstock. The stock rates excellent with just a few light handling marks present. Rifle is equipped with a Timney adjustable trigger set to 2 oz. and the receiver has a BAT Machine milled tall picatinny rail mount that has a Nightforce NXS 12-42X56 riflescope mounted to it.
