Honda S800 Coupe

Lot # 2022003

Your chance to be the keeper of this magnificant piece of Japanes engineering. About this car Well, it’s by no means a big car but by all means a great car. This example is an older restoration with respect of originality. Painted in bright white, it used to be yellow, and with its black interior it is a head turner. Walking from a distance towards her she will get your attention. Small and beautiful. Very elegant bodyline with the right curves in the right places. Getting in is not really a problem and when you are in, well this car feels spacious. There is a nice history story included in the paperwork together with two original sales brochures. On the outside This car has been restored some time in the past. Good job done. Original colour scheme not kept, it used to be yellow as the V5 states, but replaced by a very attempting white that suits her very well indeed. Paint is good but shows some imperfections. The nose has tempting eyes looking straight at you. The body panels are very well. All components are there, lights, glass, etc and in good condition. All door gaps are very good. Doors open and closes on the spot as does the hood and boot. On the inside Opening the really very small doors and thinking by yourself, I will never get into this, you just have to slide in and there it is, the big wooden steering wheel. The story goes that all steering wheels of every Honda S was made by a company making violins. True or not, it’s a nice thought. In front behind the steering wheel there is a race like dashboard. All round dials at the right place, all working. All you need to drive this car is there, but no more. The bare essential, as we like it. Starting procedure, insert the key, turn the key and enjoy the sound. The rev meter jumps up high, you already know that this engine is designed to go 10000 rpm plus. The seats are small and grab you in place to never let go again. The inside trim is good, and light turns on. Some dials wake up. Underneath Opening the motor compartment unleashes a 800cc, yes it is the strongest version, four-cylinder engine known to be a very genius motor. It spins like a sewing machine with a very deep growl. A lion in disguise. The exhaust has the original shape and is very good. Very healthy chassis and all elements there are in good condition. History This car started its life in yellow as it still says on the V5 that is included. Not sure if it was immediately imported to the UK or first went to Australia. We asked the well-known Honda Club UK if they know something about her and we will let you know the minute we have the answer. There is a confusing but interesting article in the documentation. Anyway, the story goes that someone spend about six or seven years restoring this beauty in the late nineties. One of the previous owners got is as a retirement present from his family. You can read the whole story in the documentation included. One thing is for sure, every previous owner had his fun with the little one. As mentioned before, the little Honda is now part of The Basement Collection for some time. What we think This car is a well restored example with respect for originality except for the colour. It is really an opportunity for the lover of Japanese cars to keep and enjoy. Although the car is built 1969, the design is fabulous and this gives you the benefit to have a drivable sixties car. A head turner every time you will be on the road. We would like the next owner to use it and enjoy it as much as we did during the time we were her keeper. The S800 is a sports car from Honda. Introduced at the 1965 Tokyo Motor Show, the S800 would replace the successful Honda S600 as the company’s image car and would compete with the Austin-Healey Sprite, MG Midget, Triumph Spitfire and Fiat 850 Spider. Like the S600, it was available as either a coupe or roadster and continued the advanced technology of its predecessors. The 791 cc straight-4 engine produced 70 hp (52 kW) at 8000 rpm, thus making this Honda’s first 100 mph (160 km/h) automobile, but still allowing for 35 mpg (6.7 L/100 km). In April 1967 the car was described as the fastest production 1-litre car in the world thanks to its high revving engine (up to 10,000 rpm) and the manufacturer’s history of manufacturing powerful relatively low capacity motor-cycle engines. 752 roadsters and 242 coupés were then produced. After that Honda switched to a conventional drive-shaft, live axle rear end with four radius rods and a Panhard rod. 604 roadsters and 69 coupes were built with this setup before disc brakes replaced the front drums. In February 1968, the S800M (aka S800MK2) was introduced with flush mounted interior door handles, side marker lights outside, dual-circuit brakes, lean burn carburetion under the bonnet and safety glass. These changes were made for the American market, but the car was never imported there officially. Production ended in May 1970 with 11,536 S800s produced.

Rover P6 2000 TC

Lot # 2022004

About this Rover 2000 TC 1972 On the outside. This car is an example of a car well used. Well maintained and had an easy life mostly in France and Spain. There are dents and scratches but carried with pride. The chrome work and rubber trim are all present and are in good condition. The under sills are renewed several years ago and the body is almost rust-free. Overall, the bodywork is straight with shut lines and panel gaps very good. Opening the doors and feeling underneath you will find a clean and straight line. You will also be attracted to the boot lid and find the Rover emblem, hiding the hole where the spare wheel can be mounted. Very cool, that spare wheel on top of the boot lid. The spare looks as never been used. And by the way the four other wheels are in very good condition. On the Inside Open any door, stick your head inside, take a goog breath. You are back in the seventies. All that leader, very nice wooden two spoke steering wheel, thick carpet, headliner… The interior is in a good, clean, tidy condition. The instrument panel is the one with the round dials and all working. The car has 150000 km, you cannot see that at the inside. An all original interior in this condition is hard to find. In the boot area the condition is good, not excellent since the side covers deformed due to age. The car comes with a full-size spare wheel, jack and some tools. Underneath The engine starts on the button and runs very smoothly. Respond to the throttle on the spot with a very nice sound saying, I’m ready to hit the road. Of course, this will never be a racing car, but even in today’s traffic she can cope up. The bodywork the engine department and the whole underside of the car are almost completely rust-free. If you can find rust, it is at most surface rust. Driving When driving this once innovative car you will find yourself behind the wheel of a very stable non rattling cruiser. Accelerates nicely, brakes even better. The only item that is up for improvement is the gearshift lever. The gearshift lever finds its way through the gears easily. Without hesitation you go int first gear, second, third and four through butter. Full stop, lever up, to your left and backwards into reverse, there we go. Parked, handbrake on and ready to do whatever you like. History Looking through the history documents of the car you will discover that she was an official French police car driven by a French inspector. He made the right choice between a DS Citroën and this magnificent Rover 2000 TC. The installed two tone compressed air horn is one of the remains of her police past. What we think We love the fact that this Rover is ‘dans son jus’. A car as well as it can, unrestored, be. The magnificent looks as you approach her, the beautiful sound when firing up. The acceleration and brake performance make it one we want to use every day. Driving around small roads and cruising the motorway. This is the car a purist gets warmed up for. We expect that the next keeper of the car will have to pay considerately more in a few years’ time then the price that we ask today. So not a bad investment too. Please come and see the car, she is located with us at our premises. Since we are collectors and not sellers please contact us before you come over. Just to make sure we are there and not cruising around. If you want to see additional pictures, please ask what pictures you want. We will take them and send them to you. Well, reading this you are on your way to be her next keeper! The Rover P6 series (named as the 2000, 2200, or 3500, depending on engine displacement) was a saloon car produced by Rover and subsequently British Leyland from 1963 to 1977 in Solihull, West Midlands, England, UK. The P6 was the first winner of the European Car of the Year award. The Series II, or Mark II as it was actually named by Rover, was launched in 1970. All variants carried the battery in the boot and had new exterior fixtures such as a plastic front air intake (to replace the alloy version), new bonnet pressings (with V8 blips even for the 4-cylinder-engined cars) and new rear lights. The interior of the 2000TC versions was updated with new instrumentation with circular gauges and rotary switches.

Sunbeam Alpine MK3 1955

Lot # 2022005

Sunbeam Alpine MK3 1955 About this car This car has a magnificent line and is graceful in all its aspects. A two-seater convertible that is stylish top down or not. Driving this beauty makes you feel like … A real head turner. Beautifully preserved and the real thing for purists among us. Very strong and healthy engine with a terrific sound. Simply, … it makes you smile. Since this car is in the collection for quite some time, we consider searching a new home for her. On the outside On the outside we cannot stress the bodyline enough. This car has had a respray some years ago with respect to originality. The chrome is in excellent condition and fitted correctly onto the body. The current keepers have fitted white wall tires giving that extra even more. The paint is good but shows some imperfections. The body panels all fit well with respect of the gaps. All components are there, lights, glass, etc and in good condition. All doors, bonnet skirts and boot are opening and closing very well. All rubbers are in very good condition. On the inside As this is a two-seater convertible the looks of the dash board catches your eye. The steering wheel shows that it is there for quite some time. The previous owners decided to leave it this way and we fully agree with that. IN Behind the wheel we can see a huge speedometer and dials all in working order. Left of the steering wheel there is the shifter. This is very rare since most of the steer shifters were replaced by floor shifters. The reason for that was the difficult to adjust steer shifter. This is not the only element worth mentioning. The original radio is still in place and in working order. We can, however, not guarantee the music is time period correct but at least the sound is. The rev counter in place and working accompanied with the heater down below. At the left you will find the passengers holding bar. This gives away the fact that this car has done a lot of rallies in its lifetime. Opening and closing the doors, perfectly. All removable side windows included. Starting procedure, insert the key, turn the key forty five degrees, ignition light turns on. Some dials wake up. Pull the choke to maximum, push the button and there she goes. A strong growl ready to go. Top, in very good condition, down neatly behind the seats. Underneath Opening the motor compartment unleashes massive four-cylinder engine known to be a very solid motor. The engine starts on the button. No surprises here. A well preserved and well-maintained engine. The exhaust is in good condition as are all other parts in this area. Brakes are good and they will do the job as they did at the time. Some play at the steering system. This is something you definitely need to sort out before taking her to the open road again. Very sound car underneath too. Very healthy chassis and all elements there are in good condition. History This car has been well kept over the years. The car spend some time in a museum. This explains the original condition she has today. Sadly, the museum had to close down and this lady came for sale. The previous keeper rallied the car quite a bit and kept her in a good driving condition. Because of the age of the former keepers the car came up for sale. Lucky us and probably lucky you too because we do not have the time to give her the attention she deserves. What we think This is an icon of motor industry, well preserved and deserving a purist to keep her in this condition for a long, long time. All in all, a head turner every time you will be on the road with her. We would like the next owner to use it and enjoy it as much as possible. Alpine Mark I and III Announced in March 1953 it received its name following Sunbeam-Talbot saloons successes in the Alpine Rally during the early 1950s. On its first competitive outing, the July 1953 Coupe des Alpes, the new car won the Coupe des Dames (Sheila van Damm) and, without loss of any marks, four Coupes des Alpes driven by Stirling Moss, John Fitch, G Murray-Frame and Sheila van Damm. The car has a four-cylinder 2,267 cc (138.3 cu in) engine from the saloon, but with a raised compression ratio. However, since it was developed from the saloon platform, it suffered from rigidity compromises despite extra side members in the chassis. The gearbox ratios were changed, and from 1954 an overdrive unit became standard. The gearchange lever was column-mounted. A true open 2-seater, there were no external door handles or wind-up windows. The Alpine Mark I and Mark III (no Mark II was made) were hand-built – as was the 90 drophead coupé – at Thrupp & Maberly coachbuilders from 1953 to 1955, and remained in production for only two years. Of the 1582 automobiles produced, 961 were exported to the USA and Canada, 445 stayed in the UK, and 175 went to other world markets. In 2000 it was estimated that perhaps as few as 200 had survived.

NSU RO80 1985

Lot # 2022006

NSU RO80 1985 About this car She has had a normal life this RO80. Not abused but in a normal way taken care for. The engine runs. Stubborn at times, willing at others. The car does not drive at this specific moment due to the brakes that we had to free completely to get her moving. Finished in grey-blue something colour is outstandingly expressing her smooth lines. Smooth lines that were extreme for that time and even today. She has the looks. On the outside Finished in Grey-Blue-ish original paint she shows very little rust throughout. The widely curved front tells you someone was thinking aerodynamics at the design table. Lights perfectly integrated and bumper underlying. Lights are working and the chrome is in good order. Doors, boot and bonnet all opening and closing well. Rubbers are all there and in good condition even around the sunroof. Alloy wheels all around giving the car a perfect sporty feel. A little higher at the back she shows her need for speed. On the inside Open the boot and you will notice this is hardy used. All is in place. Getting behind the wheel the velour’s seat shows normal wear and stresses she is used in a caring way. You will find a sporty non original steering wheel in front of you. No worries, the original one is on the back seat. Both steering wheel of very good quality. Dial in the futuristic dashboard are all there and in good working condition. Windows all in place and working. Inner lining all there and again very good. Ah and then we have the inner console, there isn’t any. Strange, two pedals in the pedal box, so the is a car with automatic transmission, right? But there is a gear lever that shows there are four gears!? What’s all this? No panic stay cool. Yes, this car has two pedals in front of you and yes there is a gear shifter showing there are four gears. The clutch is operated by the gearlever knob. Just feel the wobbling knob. Right, there is a switch in the knob operating the clutch. Strange isn’t it. But quite exiting to I believe. Underneath Opening the hood will give you a shock. Unless you know the build of a rotary engine of course. You will not even close find the view of a normal engine. Look closely and you will discover the sparkplug wires and the sparkplugs, so there is something you know. The lump of lightweight metal in front of you holds two triangles that are swept around and giving an enormous power compared to the engine volume. Firing her up, please pray she feels like being in a good mood, she will give a very specific rotary sound. Push the accelerator and you will be even more convinced that this is a powerful motor. All in all, all parts are there and in original condition. History Scolling the local 2nd hands websites all of a sudden there was an RO80 for sale. Immediately we contacted the seller and closed the deal by phone. The seller found the car when he was trying to buy some scooters because that is the business that he is in. The RO80 was in the scooter package. The car is an original Belgian car having all Belgian papers Pricewise the RO80 isn’t for sale that often. One thing for sure, this car is a good buy at this price. The NSU Ro 80 is a four-door, front-engine sedan manufactured and marketed by the West German firm NSU from 1967 until 1977.[1] Noted for innovative, aerodynamic styling by Claus Luthe and a technologically advanced powertrain, the Ro 80 featured a 84 kW (113 bhp), 995 cc twin-rotor Wankel engine driving the front wheels through a semi-automatic transmission with an innovative vacuum operated clutch system. Engine dimensions (Comotor units): length 16.22 in. -412 mm; width 13.5 in. -340 mm, height 13.5 in. -340 mm, weight 223 pounds -101 kg. Power: 107 HP at 6’500 rpm; torque: 14 mKg at 3.000 rpm (all figures approximate). The Ro 80 was voted Car of the Year for 1968 and 37,398 units were manufactured over a ten-year production run, all in a single generation.
NSU RO80 1985 About this car She has had a normal life this RO80. Not abused but in a normal way taken care for. The engine runs. Stubborn at times, willing at othe...morers. Triumph Renown 2000 TDB 1950

Lot # 2022007

Triumph Renown TDB 1950 About this car This car although not in its original colours is an eye catcher. Walking from a distance towards her she will get your attention with the black and white colour scheme as well as with the so typical razor edge line. Not to mention the suicide front doors and the fact that you can actually fire up the engine by cranking the motor with a lot of elbow grease. You will have some spectators around you. It is by all means a very sound car and even today a drivable one too. The couples marrying will surely know to find you. Since this car is in the collection for quite some years, we consider searching a new home for her. On the outside This car has been restored some time in the past. Good job done. Original colour scheme not kept but replaced by a very attempting black and white that suits her very well. Paint is good but shows some imperfections. Standing straight and proud on four white wall tires, having a magnificent radiator accompanied by two beautiful big headlamps looking straight at you. The body panels are aluminium over an Ash wood body frame. The majestic wings made of steel. All components are there, lights, glass, etc and in good condition. Opening the hood is done by opening the side skirts one by one. All doors, bonnet skirts and boot are opening and closing very well. All rubbers are there but not all are yet assembled. On the inside Opening the suicide door is always exiting, the word alone … Steering wheel at the right side, shifting gear selector at the left side of the steering wheel. Three shifts and a reverse. All wooden and leather interior in very good condition. The dials are located in the middle of what you can now call the dashboard. All dials are working. Starting procedure, insert the key, turn the key forty five degrees, ignition light turns on. Some dials wake up. Pull the choke to maximum, the knob with the C. Push the starting button, indeed the one with S, until the engine fires up then let go. Push the coke a bit inwards and listen to the nicely running engine. One seat in front and one seat in the back. Ashtray in front and two in the back, those were the days. Opening the boot will ask some effort. The boot is opening from top to bottom and is actually the place where the spare tire is located, so keep it firmly. Nicely maintained boot with some tools. Underneath Opening the motor compartment unleashes a two litre four-cylinder engine known to be a very solid motor used in several cars, tractors, … When the car has sat for a while you should pump the gas into the carburettor before firing up. It is a mechanical fuel pump. You can either use the electric starter or the crank to fire up the engine. The exhaust is not the original shape and looks a bit strange hanging underneath the car. So this definitely is an area for improvement for the next keeper. Very healthy chassis and all elements there are in good condition. History This car has been well kept over the years and was sold between dealers several times before it came in the hands of the previous owner. He was a real car enthusiast and kept the car in his small garage well protected against the elements. But as his family grew and everybody needed more and more space the car had to go. Lucky for us we could buy it from him and transported the car to our collection. The transport itself was an adventure. On our way back cruising the M6 we were warned by a coach driver that our trailer has had a blowout. Luckily there were four wheels so two axles on the trailer. Once we made it to a Motorway service save and sound, we wanted to change wheels and discovered that we had no spare tire with us and that the spare we needed was not a normal size. Anyway, with the help of the staff at the rest area and an mobile tire specialist some eight hours later we were on the road again. In 2016 the car was invited at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Queen. There was one car representing every one of the 90 years. The car represented the year 1951. So not only there are not many left, there is only one that has been at Buckingham Palace celebrating the Queen. What we think This is really an opportunity for the lover of pre-war styled cars. Although the car is built 1950, the design is pre-war and this gives you the benefit to have a drivable pre-war styled car. A head turner every time you will be on the road. We would like the next owner to use it and enjoy it as much as we did during the time we were her keeper. The Triumph Renown is strictly the name given to the Triumph‘s large saloon car made from 1949 to 1954.The later two series of cars with chassis numbers commencing TDB and TDC have survived better than the earlier two variants. Of the 6501 produced, fewer than 100 are known to have survived.

Volkswagen Transporter T4

Lot # 2022009

About this car This Van is one of Volkswagen icons. Still in its original colour having a very nice Falcon on the site gives away the profession of the previous owner. Walking from a distance towards her she will get your attention with this. The wheels giving this Van a sporty look it should attract the youngsters among us. You will have some spectators around you. It is by all means a very sound Van and even today a drivable one too. On the outside This car is still in its original paint and has some scratches here and there, but nothing major. As we mentioned before, there is a beautifully styled Falcon on both sides, which we would leave there even if you change the destination of the Van. has been restored some time in the past. Good job done. Two door and one sliding door all in good working condition. Gaps between the panels are as good as they were when the Van left the factory. Back doors, same story; Opens and closes very well, gaps are fine. Aha, what do we see on the back top of the Van? Right two additional side indicators. You never know what for and when you are going to use them. All trim is there and in fair condition. On the inside Opening the back door is always exiting, especial with this Van. I don’t know how many of you have ever seen a Falcon Van on the inside, well we did not. Impressive all these cave’s where we can imagine the Falcons and probably some other birds were in during their way to a training or a show. Very good maintained as we expected. On the inside behind the steering wheel, this Van is what you can expect of a Van. Well maintained but some evidence of being used daily. The odo meter telling us that too. me tools. Underneath Opening the motor compartment unleashes a 1.6 litre four-cylinder engine known to be a very solid motor. This one gives us the impression of being good maintained and still able do go on for quite some time. Starts on the button and exhaust giving a perfect sound. Steering and suspension in normal condition seen the Van’s past. History Apart from being a Falconers Van there is little known about this Vans past. But then again, how many can say their Van was a Falconers Van. This car has been well kept over the years. What we think This is really an opportunity for the Classic Car lover entering the scene as well as the one seeking a new project. These Vans are still underestimated today. With this Van the sky is the limit. You can do whatever you like, turn it into a mobile home, a mobile Classic Car repair shop or just leave it because you are a falconer too. Anyway, a solid piece of German engineering that is waiting for you.

VW Karmann Ghia 1972 Coupe

Lot # 2022002

About this VW Karmann Ghia 1972 On the outside As everyone can see, the lines of this Karmann Ghia are superb. Smooth, elegant, a bit naughty. The paint is in fairly good condition. It looks like she has been resprayed some time ago. The bodywork is straight with shut lines and panel gaps that present very well. The front boot lid and the back-motor hood are straight and close very well. Doors are a pleasure to open and close with that specific Karmann sound. The chrome is, apart from the bumpers very good and all there except for the Karmann Ghia logo. That got damaged when we transported the car. On the inside She did not have an easy life that is for sure. The inside isn’t bad but us certainly not concours. You can tell this car is used. All is there and needs some or let’s say quite a lot of attention. But then again, she is a lady of age. The instrument panel is complete, we are not sure if all dials are working the way they should be. Getting is the car is surprisingly easy and makes you feel good, happy, thinking about what it will be like cruising the lady to a VW show meeting all the airmen and women. Underneath The engine is the real beauty. Not only does she start on the button, she immediately tells you she’s healthy and full of energy. Responding immediately to the throttle and revving up like hell. She looks healthy underneath. Driving This car runs and drives but will need some mechanical adjustments to make its way through the MOT. Driving is really fun with this Karmann. The specific sound of the engine the smell of the used materials the sound coming from the outside into the car. It all has his … well you know … History Little is known about the history of this Karmann Ghia. Apart from the fact that it was once shipped from Germany to the States and brought into the UK a few years ago and is now located in Belgium, we know very little to nothing about its history. An opportunity for the next keeper to find out and do the research. What we think We know this Karmann Ghia is potentially a magnificent car and we understand what real Air-cooled petrol heads feel when driving and owning a car like this. But for us she doesn’t fit in our collection. Call it an impulsive buy, maybe. Call it let’s try something else. Well one thing is for sure, because we know now what it means when someone says ‘shoemaker stay with your reading’ it’s a real opportunity for you to own this one and make it the beauty she deserves. Promise us one thing, when you finished the job, come and show of with her.
