Lot # 900 (Sale Order: 102 of 128)

Freshly restored in preparation for Channel 4's forthcoming 'Mend it for Money' series.

  • The format of the programme dictates that two restorers bid to restore the car for its existing owner

1968 Austin Mini Cooper Mk II 1275 S

Lot # 902 (Sale Order: 104 of 128)

Fresh to market after 43 years of current ownership, superbly restored Mk II 1275S with a slightly macabre political connection.

  • Purchased by its current custodians in August 1977 and subject to a mild engine rebuild before being taken off the road in 1980 and put into long-term storage
  • After being sandblasted and primed, substantial bodyworks were carried out in March 1991; new wings, bonnet, cills, hinge panels, front panel, scuttle, boot floor, battery box and rear valance were fitted
  • Meticulously reassembled by our vendors with the emphasis on originality. 90% finished and returned to storage until 2018 when the restoration was completed
  • Now superbly presented in Island Blue and Snowberry White with a Charcoal Vinyl interior
  • The car comes with a nice history file including the old Buff Logbook, the first owner being Sir Richard Christopher Sharples, KCMG, OBE, MC, British politician and Governor of Bermuda who was shot dead in Bermuda by assassins linked to a small militant Bermudian Black Power group called the Black Beret Cadre. His two assassins would be the last people to be executed under British rule anywhere in the world

1950 Lea-Francis 2.5-litre Sport

Lot # 908 (Sale Order: 110 of 128)

A lovely example of a post-war, sporty Leaf in simply splendid form.

  • In 1949, Lea-Francis introduced the aluminium-bodied 2.5-litre Sports with twin carbs and high-lift camshafts which gave the car an impressive 100mph top speed
  • The model was the first 'new' post-war design and featured an 87 bhp, 2496cc OHV inline four-cylinder engine with twin SU carburettors, four-speed manual gearbox, independent torsion bar front suspension, solid rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf spring suspension, and hydraulic front and manual rear drum brakes
  • The Lea-Francis Owners Club believes that around 85 2.5-litre Sports were produced of which less than 40 remain in existence worldwide
  • Finished in a lovely shade of Bordeaux Red with a gently patinated red leather interior
  • The car was extensively restored in 2007 by Barry Price who, at the time, owned the Lea-Francis trademark and spares back catalogue. There are substantial details about the restoration in the history file
  • The odometer indicates 4,639 miles which have probably been accrued since the restoration and the V5 suggests only four previous keepers
  • According to our vendor "The paintwork is about 7/10 but comes up very well. Interior is the same. Engine bay good and runs well (leaks oil but at 70 years old I'll probably have the same issue!)"
  • Used lightly over recent years there is scope for small amounts of further detailing or just enjoy this stylish roadster as it is

1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 5 GSR 2.3

Lot # 909 (Sale Order: 111 of 128)

Superbly engineered, Evotune 'stroker' engined, 'Time Attack' car.

  • 1998 JDM GSR sourced especially for development in the UK
  • Previous owner spec'd a fully forged 2.3-litre 'stroker' engine in late 2012/13 eith photos of engine build and invoices etc.
  • Initially envisaged as a 'project build' so never used in anger by the builder or the then-owner
  • Specialists 'Evotune' of Durham developed the engine to 580bhp
  • Our vendor continued the car's association with Evotune, having a major turbo cooling overhaul in February 2019; remapped to 622bhp (dyno-sheet attached), giving 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds
  • So well-known by Jamie at Evotune he has had free reign to do whatever needed attention - see Condition Report for full specification
  • Our vendor is the first owner to compete in the car - primarily four seasons at Harewood Hill Climb, so not had a hard life (i.e. no circuits etc.)
  • The car's shell is in superb condition, rust-free, always air-chamber stored; new fuel pump last week
  • MOT'd until January and road legal, so can be driven to events; the lower settings on Blitz controller (approx. 440bhp) makes this quite comfortable

2010 BMW M3 (E92) Coupe Competition Pack

Lot # 915 (Sale Order: 117 of 128)

No ordinary M3 - a 200mph 'Rocketship'. £73,000 spent on enhancing an already special performance car, a true one-off.

  • The E92 M3 was the first and last V8-engined model of this famous performance saloon with the howling 414bhp 4.0-litre S65 V8
  • In 2010, the M3 with Competition Package was a £57,000 car; 10mm lower than standard with revised stability control software (M-dynamic mode), 19-inch CSL-style alloys and a new EDC Sport setting featuring entirely new damper rates
  • Bought by our vendor in 2013 via BMW UK Approved Cars, he has now endowed it with a formidable upgrade package, including an 'ESS Tuning' VT650+ supercharger kit with carbon-fibre intake manifold, a full de-catted Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, AP Racing brake system, AC Schnitzer adjustable adaptive road/track suspension, 20" AC Schnitzer Type V forged race alloys (see Condition Report for full specification)
  • Full BMW service history (serviced in only three places in the last 10 years - Stratstone BMW Doncaster, Faro BMW Portugal, Stirling BMW Scotland); BMW AG came from Germany just to see it
  • This car is shockingly quick, with the supercharger set to maximum giving 650bhp, far faster than our vendor's Ferrari 458; a 0-140 mph time in c10 seconds and in excess of 200 mph are possibilities
