By famous Arizona artist ,"Pat Matheisen" entitled "Elk Camp up Beaver Creek". Framed and triple matted, in gold guilded frame. Signed bottom right. Image size measures 9x8. Bio-Pat Mathiesen, a painter and sculptor of Native Americans, wildlife and other Western subjects, was born on January 15, 1934, in North Hollywood, California, growing up there. Some of her sculptures include "Wyatt Earp at the O.K. Corral;" "Spirit of Crazy Horse;" "After the Battle at Wounded Knee;" "The Steer Buster;" and "Apache Mountain Spirit Dancer." Horses are the subjects of two major commissions in the early 1970s for the American Quarter Horse Association, in Amarillo, Texas. Mathiesen's twenty-four-foot-high Indian, "One With the Eagle," was sculpted in 1989 for the Scottsdale Airport in Arizona.

John Wayne Full Western Costume with rifle.

Lot # 892 (Sale Order: 291 of 943)      

Actual costume worn by John Wayne along with museum quality figure. Created by Joseph Musso for his own collection and display in his private museum and other exhibitions. The rifle used in the film was a Hacker Martin made rifle (circa 1940) that set Armorer George Ross assigned to be used by John Wayne as Davy Crockett based on research of the actual rifle Crockett used at the Alamo. This rifle looks identical to the film used rifle, believed to be possibly a later matching replica for display with the costume. Letter of Provenance lists - 1. Pair of spurs (not present) 2. Bowie knife made out of U.S. Navy MK I- knife with leather sheath used by Mr. John Wayne in "The Alamo". 3.One powder horn used in the film "The Alamo". 4. Leather pouch (strap broken) used in "The Alamo". 5. Pair of Apache moccasins marked Western Costume II from "The Alamo" (not present). 6. Pair of buffalo skin pants marked Western Costume II from the film "The Alamo". 7. One leather fringed shirt worn by John Wayne in the film "Hondo" (also in "The Alamo" - though not in this writing). All the above items were given to me as a present by John Wayne in the year 1958-59. When I worked as an actor in Hollywood (Screen Actors Guild #41414) Having worked with John Wayne in the movie "The Alamo". The letter transfers the above items to Han Schemke - In Lima, Peru March 27, 1988. The letter is signed and witnessed with photos of this Peruvian Actor as a bit player in "The Alamo". The items were sold to JR Gangel, AKA Little John, by Hans Schemke and then sold by him to Joseph Musso, later in 1988. Includes lobby card for "The Alamo" showing this afore mentioned shirt as worn by John Wayne. The half stocked percussion rifle was purchased by Joe Musso from the Ross estate. Signed on the barrel "A MAEAPTPS" in script letters and dated 1983. The rifle shows fine quality and is half stocked with fancy striping, eagle patch box with engraved brass inlays and silver oval at top of wrist engraved "KP". The rifle approximately 54 cal. The condition is fine to excellent. Sold as a lot only. Special note: Two items are missing from inventory, which are noted as beaded mocassin and spurs. One of John Wayne's most important costumes from the iconic movie, "The Alamo". From the Joseph Musso Collection

Bore is very good condition/bright. Retains 80% dull blue with scuffs & scrapes & edge losses. Wood is good, sound condition with many scratches and dents, blemishes to finish. right forearm has what appears to be some dark colored paint in it. Should clean up. NRA Condition-Good. C&R Firearm.

Collection of fourteen knives used in the 1952 classic movie production of, "The Iron Mistress", starring Alan Ladd and other productions. Most of these knives were featured in the May 2002 edition of Blade Magazine, Including actual steel blade knife designed by art director John Beckman and prop maker Arthur Rhoades. Other prop knives include retractable blades for "stabbing", rubber and plastic replicas. Also the knife hled by the blind blacksmith James Black, who said, "There's a little bit of Heaven and a little bit of Hell, in this knife." Magazine article included, along with photograph of McDonald Carrey as James Bowie, with aluminum bladed knife and fringed scabbard. Included with this lot. This knife was also used in later productions after 1950. Possibly the most important collection of movie used Bowie knives ever offered for sale at auction and an award winning display in itself. Horse/Alligator Pommel Bowie Knife

Mexican War Bowie, circa 1840's. The half horse half alligator pommel is the mythical creation of the British to show great respect to the Kentucky back the British called them half horse and half alligator. The American Kentucky backwoods men were led by Andrew Jackson. Features a 12 7/8" blade w/ semi-coffin shaped die-struck half horse and half alligator pommel. 17 3/4" overall. Dark patina blade w/ 1 large and small metal chips missing from edge. Some pitting and erosion. Aged horned grips with use. Red leather scabbard with metal tip and throat w/oval hanger. Rifle retains approximately 99% of its original blued finish. Action is sound, the bore is excellent, and the wood stock is excellent. Condition is near NRA Excellent. Modern Firearm.

14K Omega Automatic Wristwatch with "JOHN WAYNE" inscribed on back case cover. Gold filled expanding strap, circa 1950-60's. Sold to Joe Musso from Little John's Antique Arms in early 1990's and obtained from the Grandson of Glen Strange (actor), who appeared in John Wayne films as the "Heavy". Glen was later cast as the "Bartender", in "Gun Smoke" & monster in "Frankenstein". Joe Musso confirmed that this watch was John Wayne's with his son, Michael Wayne and Ron Kowall from BATJAC.
