Smooth trap buttplate. Walnut stock set with crisp boxed "JSA 1900" inspector's mark. Encircled script "P" proof under grip and a tiny "J.C" assembly mark. Faint trace of "B-27" rack number on right side of butt. Quality, unmarked brown leather military-type sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 2 cleaning rod sections in butt. CONDITION: stock set has a great deal of original finish with crisp markings and moderate wear and handling marks. The rack # was partially removed, leaving the finish thin in that area. Lg. missing chip on top right at heel plus chipping and cracks around the tang of the buttplate. There is a large chip of missing wood on the right side of the receiver bridge between the bolt handle mortice and mag. The hand guard has a missing chip on the top right side at the receiver ring. Metal retains a significant degree of original blue, including fire blue on the extractor. The balance of metal is turning gray with thinning and light wear. All milled furniture, including the smooth trap buttplate and grooved trigger. Replacement walnut stock set with two recoil bolts, straight grip, grasping grooves, and a faint boxed acceptance mark. Circle "P" proof behind the trigger guard is very faint. Model 1903 brown leather sling is marked "R-S" & "G.M.S.". Bolt sleeve is scalloped "SMITH CARONA PRODUCTION." Both the safety and cocking piece are unmarked. All milled furniture, including the smooth trap buttplate and grooved trigger. The trigger guard is marked "R" on the right side. Unmarked replacement MKI walnut straight grip stock set with clearance for the ejection port on the left side, two recoil bolts, and grasping grooves. Unmarked brown leather military-style sling. CONDITION: stock set has a worn arsenal rework finish, plus numerous small handling marks. Metal has 60% of its arsenal rework-type finish with an added protective finish, plus thinning and wear. Sight base is Remington production made without lightening cuts. Blade front sight w/ 2 piece base. Bolt is marked on top "BF1" & marked underneath w/ "F". Balance of bolt parts are unmarked &cutoff is marked "R". All milled furniture including smooth trap buttplate. Smooth trigger. Walnut stock set. 1903 A3 buttstock w/ 2 reinforcing ends. Handguard ring cut has been partially filled. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 9 5/8" fullered blade bayonet marked on left ricasso "UC", flaming bomb, "US". Grooved composite handle. Pommel is marked on top w/ "H". Green plastic scabbard w/ metal throat and marked with "US" & "flaming bomb". Bayonet blade has wear, oxidation & grinding marks. Grips have moderate wear. Balance of metal turning patina. Scabbard is well worn w/ patinaed metal. Well worn military type sling w/ scuffing, cracking & rodent damage. CONDITION: stock set has an attractive appearance with rework type refinish which has obscured all markings except a very faint encircled "P" under grip. Receiver is ejection port for the Pedersen device and the left rail, and is marked on the receiver ring "MARK I". Model 1903 A3 replacement bolt, marked on top of handle with "X". Bolt shroud is marked "R" and boxed "7". Standard type cutoff is marked "R". Sear is standard rifle type. All milled furniture, except stamped stacking swivel. Smooth trap buttplate. Smooth trigger. Replacement walnut stock set with WWII type pistol grip. Stock cut for handguard ring at front of receiver. Left side of stock is not cut with the Pedersen type slot, but is low enough to clear the ejection port. Stock has 2 recoil bolts and is marked with boxed "S.A.G.A.W. (crossed cannons)". Cutout recess is marked with a reversed "K". Forend tip is marked "S". Green web reproduction sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: plastic oiler in butt. CONDITION: stock set has very light wear with scattered tiny handling marks over arsenal rework type finish. Metal retains a very large percentage of it's arsenal rework parkerized finish. All stamped furniture, including the fine checkered buttplate and correct large bowl Smith Corona trigger guard. Walnut stock set with straight grip and 2 recoil bolts. Stock is marked on the left side over the trigger guard with faint crossed cannons and the unboxed "FJA." Encircled, double-stamped "P" proof and "H" under grip. Assembly marks at the front of the trigger guard include "75" in a triangle, boxed "52," encircled "9," plus "1" and "5". Stock appears to be a modern replacement. CONDITION: stock set has light wear and scattered handling marks. Notable small area of white on the right side by recoil bolt. Metal retains a large degree of arsenal rework and greenish parkerization with very light wear. Notable splotches of white in the front sight area. Very good, shiny bore. The left receiver rail has an eagle head acceptance mark on top and a flaming bomb on the side. The receiver ring has been modified with a semi-circular cut to clear bullet tips, similar to the modification performed on 1917 rifles used in Greenland by Denmark. There is an added sheet metal filler in the clip slot, which is retained by the rear sight screw. This appears to be an arsenal-quality addition. Walnut stock set. The end tip is marked "W." "W"-marked upper band with bayonet lug. The stacking swivel and screw are not present. CONDITION: stock set has light to moderate wear, staining, and handling marks over the original finish. Metal has a mix of finishes, with the receiver and barrel retaining a majority of the original blue. Very good, shiny bore with sharp lands. GERMAN GEW 98 BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE WITH POST WAR REBUILD WITH ZN AND EWB MARKINGS. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 2189. Matching numbers on receiver & bbl. Bbl. 29 1/4". CAI. ...moreimport mark on right side of bbl. Research both published & internet sourced indicates the rifle was likely assembled originally in the ordnance shops at the former Imperial training ground at Zeithain. Receiver ring is marked on top “Zn”. These rifles were made using spare unassembled receivers, this example being marked additionally w/ Imperial crown SPANDAU 1917/26, the 26 being the year of assembly. These arms were supplied to the “Black Reichswehr” which was an unofficial reserve for the regular Reichswehr. These rifles are typical of those later supplied as military assistance to Spain during the Spanish Civil War. The receiver ring is additionally marked on the right side w/ the crown L & 2 “droop wing 6” Weimar acceptance marks & marked on the left side of bbl. & receiver ring w/ “droop wing 6” Weimar proofs. Left receiver rail is marked Gew. 98. The buttstock used is marked on the right side of the butt w/ EWB & plus B. The EWB stands for the Einwoherwehr Bayern, the armed resident’s militia, which should not be confused w/ the Freikorps. The hardwood buttstock has additional faint Imperial AMBERG arsenal markings on right side of butt & at belly. Stock has recess under bolt handle & grasping grooves. Steel takedown disc & flat type buttplate. The bolt assembly is from a WW2 Model 98K rifle & is marked under bolt handle w/ 2 straight wing eagle 77s. Bolt assembly parts are serial numbered 7767f. Rear sight tangent & leaf marked S/42G. Inverted V front sight. H type upper band w/ parade hook, cleaning rod & bayonet bar are present. Narrow lower band w/ bottom swivel. QD swivel is present at butt. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 14 1/2" fullered blade Model 1898/05 bayonet dated 1920 on the right side of the crossguard. Bayonet is also marked on left ricasso “F.KOELLER&COHLIGS SOLINGEN”. Back of blade is marked w/ crown, W & 17. Unmarked steel scabbard w/ ball finial. Bayonet has traces of original blue finish w/ thinning & wear. Flash guard is present. Scabbard has traces of blue turning gray & patina w/ oxidation, light pitting & dents throughout. CONDITION: rifle shows wear, dents, staining & scratches commensurate w/ long hard service. EWB marking is prominent. Forend has notably loss of wood between bands w/ several deep gouges near the lower band. Metal has 50% original blue w/ thinning, wear & scratches. Floorplate, buttplate & upper band have turned gray. Worn bore w/ light oxidation turning dark in grooves. (23-54/RW). CURIO. $800-1,100.

UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 7 7/8" fullered bowie blade bayonet, marked on left side with broad arrows, view mark, and S#, which does not match the rifle. The steel scabbard matches the bayonet. Bayonet and scabbard have a near-excellent black factory finish. CONDITION: outer wrapper has wear, staining, and tears. Labels are partly loose.
