(C) RARE NICKEL SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1913 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH FACTORY LETTER.

Lot # 2155 (Sale Order: 153 of 420)

This model in nickel is extremely rare. In fact, this cataloguer could only find three others sold at auction, serial numbers 2956, 4100 and 4568. All had blue slides, triggers, and trigger guards. The factory letter of June 24, 2024 states this gun was shipped on November 16, 1917 to Schoverling, Daly and Gale of NYC in blue finish with note "The blue slide may be a replacement" when in fact, it is a nickel gun and each of the other three known nickel guns were all in this configuration. The letter also states it had smooth walnut grips and was a single gun order for a customer. Therefore, it is this cataloguer's opinion that this gun was shipped just as it is today and verified by four nickel examples. Comes with one blue magazine as well. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains nearly all its finish with usual nickel finish handling marks. All Smith legends are sharp. Bore is bright. Also comes with the ultra rare original operators manual. Barrel Length: 3 - 1/2" Caliber/Bore: .35 S&W Auto FFL Status: Curio & Relic Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson Model: 1913 Paperwork: Factory Letter Serial Number: 4942

(C) U.S. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1898/99 KRAG BOLT ACTION CARBINE.

Lot # 2166 (Sale Order: 164 of 420)

The 1898 receiver dates to 1903 and is well outside the serial range of any 1898 saddle ring carbine. The walnut stock has the JSA cartouche and is dated 1901. This appears to be a standard 1899 carbine with no saddle ring built on an 1898 frame. The rear sight is a "C" marked 1898 carbine sight, and the handguard is for the 1898 or 1902 rear sight. The front sight also has the "C" carbine stamp. Neither the barrel nor the stock appears altered or shortened. It is this writers opinion that they simply used a late 1898 frame to build an 1899 carbine. CONDITION: Fine. The receiver colors are mottled and the box magazine retains at least 90% blue finish. Extractor retains virtually all the bright nitre blue. The trigger guard retains almost all the bright blue as does the butt plate, barrel band and retaining spring. The barrel is a butter smooth patina with blue hues. The stock is spectacular with bold cartouche and proof P. Rifling is pronounced but frosted. A very fine condition and unusual factory carbine. Barrel Length: 22" Caliber/Bore: .30-40 Krag FFL Status: Curio & Relic Manufacturer: Springfield Model: 1898 / 99 Krag Carbine Serial Number: 408155
