One of the key features of the 92FS is its ambidextrous safety/decocker lever, which can be operated from either side of the firearm.

The Beretta 92FS has gained a significant amount of fame in popular culture, particularly in movies and television. It is perhaps most famously known as the sidearm of choice for Detective John McClane, played by Bruce Willis, in the "Die Hard" series. The pistol's sleek design and reliability have also made it a staple in many other action films, such as the "Lethal Weapon" series, where it is carried by Mel Gibson's character, Martin Riggs. Additionally, it has appeared in films like "Under Siege," "The Boondock Saints," and "The Matrix." The Beretta 92FS's combination of reliability, accuracy, and cinematic appeal has cemented its status as one of the most recognized and respected handguns in the world. Its extensive use by the United States military, where it is known as the M9, further underscores its durability and effectiveness. Whether in the hands of law enforcement, military personnel, or action movie heroes, the Beretta 92FS continues to be a symbol of performance and dependability.

The Gen 1 featured a 17+1 round capacity, a lightweight polymer frame, and Glock’s now-famous "Safe Action" system, which included three passive safeties (trigger, firing pin, and drop safety). It had a 4.49-inch barrel and a smooth, grip-textured frame without finger grooves or an accessory rail. The Gen 1’s innovative design made it significantly lighter than traditional steel-framed handguns, while its simple internal mechanism and Tenifer-treated slide provided exceptional corrosion resistance.

The Glock 17 Gen 1 quickly gained popularity for its durability, ease of maintenance, and exceptional performance in rigorous military and police trials worldwide. Its ability to function reliably under extreme conditions, coupled with its high capacity and lightweight frame, made it a game-changer in the semi-automatic pistol market. The Gen 1 lacks the later refinements found in newer generations, such as an accessory rail and finger grooves, but its minimalist design and historical significance make it highly sought after by collectors and Glock enthusiasts. As the foundation of Glock’s enduring legacy, the Gen 1 remains a classic representation of the company’s commitment to innovation and performance-driven design.

Our Assessment: The Glock 17 Gen 2 was introduced in 1988 as an evolution of the original Glock 17, refining the pistol’s ergonomics and durability while maintaining its core design. Still chambered in 9mm with a 17+1 round capacity, the Gen 2 retained the 4.49-inch barrel and polymer-framed, striker-fired operation. However, Glock improved the grip texture by adding checkering on the front and back straps, enhancing control without the later finger grooves found in Gen 3 models. Internally, the Gen 2 featured an upgraded locking block and modifications to the frame and slide rails, increasing overall longevity. Like its predecessor, it utilized Glock’s ""Safe Action"" system with three passive safeties, ensuring a consistent and simple trigger pull without the need for external safeties.

Durability and reliability remained the Glock 17 Gen 2’s standout features, as it performed exceptionally well in military and law enforcement trials worldwide. The pistol functioned reliably under extreme conditions, from sand and mud to freezing temperatures, solidifying Glock’s reputation as one of the most rugged handgun manufacturers. The Gen 2 also introduced a revised magazine design with an additional metal lining, strengthening feed lips and preventing deformation under prolonged use. Though later generations added accessory rails, finger grooves, and interchangeable backstraps, the Gen 2 remains a favorite among Glock enthusiasts for its clean, no-frills design and historical significance in Glock’s continued dominance in the handgun market.

Our Assessment: The Glock 19 Gen 2 is a compact, striker-fired, polymer-framed semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm. Introduced in 1988, it built upon the success of the original Glock 19 while refining ergonomics and durability. The Gen 2 retained the same overall dimensions and 15+1 round capacity but introduced an improved checkered grip texture without finger grooves, offering a more universal fit for shooters. The frame lacked the accessory rail found on later models, giving it a sleeker profile. The pistol featured a 4.02-inch barrel, Glock’s signature ""Safe Action"" system with three passive safeties, and standard polymer sights, though many users opted for aftermarket upgrades. Like its predecessor, the Gen 2 was lauded for its reliability, corrosion-resistant finish, and ease of maintenance, making it a favorite among military, law enforcement, and civilian shooters worldwide.

Durability and simplicity defined the Glock 19 Gen 2, contributing to its reputation as a near-indestructible sidearm. It excelled in high-round-count endurance tests, functioning reliably in extreme conditions with minimal lubrication. The lightweight polymer frame reduced fatigue, making it an excellent choice for concealed carry, duty use, or recreational shooting. Over time, the Gen 2 became a sought-after model for collectors and Glock enthusiasts, particularly as Glock moved to newer generations with added features like finger grooves and accessory rails. Its no-frills, utilitarian design remains appealing to those who appreciate the classic, battle-proven reliability of early Glock models.

Our Assessment: The Glock 24P is a long-slide, ported variant of the Glock 24 chambered in .40 S&W, designed for competitive shooting. Introduced in the early 1990s, the ""P"" designation originally stood for ""Ported,"" indicating that the barrel featured gas ports and the slide had matching cuts to help reduce muzzle rise and felt recoil. This design allowed for faster follow-up shots and improved control, making it well-suited for precision shooting sports. The Glock 24 itself was built for accuracy, featuring a 6.02-inch barrel and an extended sight radius, giving shooters a distinct advantage in competition settings.

The ported design of the Glock 24P made it highly effective at mitigating recoil, particularly with the snappier nature of the .40 S&W cartridge. However, as Glock evolved its model designations, it rebranded ported models with a ""C"" for ""Compensated,"" leading to the Glock 24C. Despite the naming change, the Glock 24P remains a notable early example of Glock's commitment to competition performance. It is now a sought-after firearm among Glock collectors and competitive shooters who appreciate its original porting system and long-slide precision.
