Remington New Model Army Cartridge Conversion Revolver, #73536, .44 cal., 8" octagon barrel, blue finish, smooth walnut two-piece grips, flattened pin front and fixed "U"...more-notched rear sights, brass trigger guard and iron straps, with unfluted converted cylinder. Serial numbers match under loading lever and left grip panel. Factory markings are legible with the barrel address partially polished out and "R" proofs on the left side of the barrel and loading lever. Mfg'd 1864. Revolver is in very good condition as refinished, retaining approx. 60%-70% of an old reblued finish with wear at the muzzle, edge wear, and scattered areas of pitting under the newer finish along the barrel. Edges remain sharp with the loading lever drifting to a mottled brown appearance. Converted cylinder shows leading edge wear, thinning finish, and index line, with spots of pitting. Brass trigger guard has toned to a dark, uncleaned patina. Grips are very good with indentations and chips at the base and toes, there are no visible cartouches. Action works well and holds at full and half cock. Bore is dark with light to moderate erosion and visible rifling. Includes an additional percussion cylinder with mottled, thinning finish and some deeper pitting on one side. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)

Colt 1872 Open Top Pocket Model 7-Shot Revolver, #15962, .22 Short or Long RF cal., 2-3/8" round barrel, nickel finish, smooth walnut two-piece bird's head grips, spur tr...moreigger, German silver half-round blade front and V-notch hammer rear sight, 7-round unfluted cylinder, fire blued hammer and grip screw. Mfg'd 1874. Revolver is in very good overall condition with the barrel and cylinder worn to even gray color with scrapes, scratches, and some light staining. Brass frame has drifted to a dark patina with scratches and scattered spots of light surface erosion. Factory markings are legible. Grips are fine with light indentations and minor marks, displaying the matching serial number in pencil on the interior of the right panel. Action functions but only intermittently holds at full cock. Bore is good with light erosion and defined rifling. Est.: $200-$400. (Antique)

Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver

Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver, #113435, .44 cal., 8" round barrel, blue finish, smooth walnut one-piece grip, German silver blade front and V-notch hammer rear...more sight, cut for stock, brass trigger guard and front strap, iron back strap, naval battle cylinder scene, and cap groove on right side. Matching visible serial numbers, except the wedge, which is an unmarked period replacement. Factory markings are legible with "COLTS PATENT" on the left side of the frame, "G" and "H" inspection marks on the cylinder, with a "D" on the grip apron. Mfg'd 1863. The revolver is in good overall condition with the metal surfaces having gone to a mottled gray patina with areas of moderate to heavy surface erosion and pinprick pitting. Cylinder displays approx. 30%-40% lightly rolled cylinder scene with scattered light to moderate pitting. There is a replaced nipple with the safety tabs all hammered flat. Loading lever shows traces of silvered color case hardened finish. Front strap and trigger guard display a pleasing taffy patina to the brass. Butt of the grip frame is dark with light pitting and corrosion, making the serial number difficult to read. Grips are very good with wear and indentations. There is shrinkage around the proud edges and faint cartouche outlines on both sides, better on the left. Action functions well, holding at full and half cock with good timing. Bore is dark with moderate erosion and visible rifling. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)

Trenton U.S. Model 1861 Percussion Musket, NVSN, .58 cal., 40" barrel, finish is in the white, walnut stock, with "V"-notch rear sight and blade front sight. Rear sight i...mores missing one leaf, nipple and ramrod are a reproduction, and the sling swivels were removed. Barrel is marked "VP (eagle)." Lockplate is marked "(eagle)" next to "U.S./TRENTON" without a date. Condition overall is good. Lockplate appears refinished and the other metal parts have light patina with scattered rust. Stock was heavily sanded and has a 2" crack in front of the trigger, plastic wood behind the lower band, and wood is missing behind the lockplate and at the stock tip. Action functions properly. Bore with surface rust throughout. Est.: $500-$700. (Antique)

London Warranted Percussion Full-Stock Kentucky Rifle, #NVSN, .45 cal., 41" octagon barrel, blue and color case hardened finish, smooth hardwood one-piece full-stock with...more shallow stylized cheekpiece, double set triggers, dovetailed German silver blade front sight, fixed wide "U"-notch rear sight, brass mountings, with full-length hardwood ramrod. Lockplate is lightly engraved and marked "LONDON WARRANTED". Rifle is in good overall condition, retaining traces of blue finish drifting to a mottled medium patina on the barrel with nicks, scratches, and spots of light surface rust and erosion. Breech shows pitting and corrosion around the nipple from firing and powder residue. Lock and hammer display a dull color case hardened finish with light engraving and a game bird. Stock is in good condition with several areas of damage and old, crude repairs. Brass mountings include a nose cap, ramrod pipes, inlaid half moons along the right side of the barrel channel, lightly engraved escutcheon plate on the underside, support strap at the action, extended finger rest trigger guard, patchbox, crescent moon inlay on the left side of the buttstock, and smooth buttplate. Brass hardware has a pleasing, dark uncleaned patina. There is a complete break at the wrist repaired with a thin piece of copper sheeting tacked in place. Additionally, there is wood loss at the front of the lock and tang. Action functions intermittently and will hold only at half-cock. Double triggers function as intended. Bore is dark with strong, well-defined rifling. Est.: $500-$700. (Antique)

Ashmore & Son Smoothbore Fowler Converted to Percussion, #NVSN, 12 gauge, 42" smoothbore barrel, dark patinated finish, smooth walnut one-piece straight grip stock with pewter forend cap, brass pin front sight, full-length hardwood ramrod with brass tulip head. Iron hardware with scroll engraving, marked "R. ASHMORE & SON" at the rear of the lock. Mfg'd in the early 1800's. In very good antique condition, displaying a dark, mottled patina with roughness at the muzzle and breech, surface erosion and scattered areas of light pinprick pitting. Lock shows traces of original smoky case hardened finish, with 30%-40% coverage in light scroll engraving, along with the iron trigger guard, hammer, and tang. Rear section of the lock is missing a small piece. Stock is in good condition, with indentations and staining. Iron mountings are good with ramrod sleeves going to dark patina. Elaborate trigger guard shows a pineapple finial at the front end with an extended rear tang, showing some light to moderate pitting. Buttplate shows light scroll engraving with an extended top piece. Mechanically, the action functions well holding at half and full-cock. Bore is dark, showing roughness and pitting. Richard Ashmore was a noted lock maker from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania who began his trade in approx 1800, later incorporating his son into the business. Est.: $700-$900. (Antique)...more

Unmarked Percussion Full-Stock Pennsylvania Rifle, #NVSN, .36 cal., 44" octagon barrel, brown finish, smooth hardwood one-piece full-stock with brass mountings, full-length replacement hardwood ramrod, double set triggers, dovetailed brass blade front sight, and fixed "U"-notched rear sight. No markings. Rifle is in good overall condition displaying an even light brown finish on the barrel with stains, scratches, and light pinprick pitting around the lock from firing and powder residue. Stock is in good condition with damage and wood loss at the right side of the muzzle. There is wood loss at the front of the lock and both sides of the tang. Additionally, there is a repaired complete diagonal break at the wrist with an old nail protruding at the bottom. There is a missing piece of wood at the toe measuring approx. 1"x .5".  Brass mountings include the ramrod pipes, extended finger groove trigger guard, and Scheutzen style smooth buttplate. Brass has taken on a dark, uncleaned patina. Mechanically, the action is not working at the time of description, failing to hold at full or half-cock. Double set triggers appear to function. German Fowler Converted to Percussion, #NVSN, 16 gauge, 31" octagon to round smoothbore barrel, finished in the white, hand carved hardwood one-piece straight grip stock,...more brass mountings, brass bead front sight, with full-length hardwood ramrod. There is a stylized symbol on the barrel flat at the action. In good overall condition with light surface rust and scratches along the barrel, drifting to gray patina. There is dried oil and staining around the action. Lockplate appears to have been heavily cleaned with scratches and polishing marks. Stock is in good condition with light indentations and storage marks. Forend and buttstock are heavily hand carved and decorated with an exaggerated cheekpiece. Trigger guard is a hand carved piece of hardwood trimmed in brass for support. All brass hardware has a good, uncleaned patina. Under the cheekpiece, there is a small iron pick mounted in two loops. Action functions well and locks at full and half-cock. Bore is dark with light erosion. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)

European Percussion Single Shot Smoothbore Fowler, #NVSN, .64 cal., 31" octagon to round barrel, finished in the white, lightly hand decorated one-piece hardwood straight...more grip stock with full-length brass tipped wooden ramrod (replacement) secured with brass pipes, the barrel shows a crudely dovetailed brass blade front sight, wedding ring transition, stylized brass barrel band and conversion from flintlock action. Lock is unmarked, with a unique decorative marking at the breech. In very good overall condition with the metal surfaces having gone to gray patina with scattered spots of erosion and surface rust along the barrel. Lock has been aggressively cleaned and polished to bright metal. Stock is very good with lightly carved decorations, indentations and scratches. Trigger guard is carved wood with a thin brass retaining strap. Buttstock shows nicely carved decorations and beaded cheekpiece, with an iron pick tool cleverly mounted under the edge of the cheekpiece. Action functions, bore is dark. Est.: $300-$500. (Antique)

R. Dobler Percussion Full-Stock Kentucky Rifle, #NVSN, approx. .32 cal., 38" octagon barrel, brown finish, smooth faux tiger maple full-length stock with hardwood ramrod,...more brass mountings and detailed patchbox, double set triggers, dovetailed German silver knife blade front sight, and fixed "V"-notch rear sight. Marked "R. DOBLER WHEELING, W. VA.", on the underside of the buttstock. Rifle is in very good overall condition, showing thinning brown finish, scrapes, scratches and areas of light surface rust. There is light corrosion and minor pitting along the barrel with edge wear and nicks. Lock shows illegible faint markings which are indiscernible due to fowling and light pitting from firing. Barrel address is faintly visible, however illegible due to wear. Stock is good with a 24" repair extending back from the muzzle, which has been striped artificially to resemble tiger maple. Stock shows expected marks from years of use. Brass mountings include a nose cap, ramrod retaining tubes, side support, articulated finger rest trigger guard, elaborate patchbox (with clasp) and smooth crescent buttplate, all with a pleasing patina. Trigger guard is missing the front fastening screw and hangs loose. Patchbox clasp functions as intended and holds securely. Buttstock ends with a smooth brass buttplate, providing a 12.5" LOP. Mechanically, the action functions and holds at full-cock. Double set triggers are also functioning at the time of description. Bore has been relined to .32 cal. Richard Dobler was a noted gunsmith/rifle maker in West Virginia from 1819-1895, although the barrel address would indicate original work by an earlier smith. This is an interesting rifle that deserves further research. Est.: $500-$700. (Antique)

Hardwood grips are fair-good, with a fissure in the left panel running the length of that grip, yet not appearing to effect its sturdiness. Markings are visible. Action is crisp. French Model 1840 Percussion Rifled Musket, #NVSN, .75 cal., 41.6" round barrel, bright finish, hardwood stock with steel fittings, clover shaped sideplate, wide trigger ...moreguard and tang with finger grooves. There is a water plug on the right side of the buttstock. Blade front sight and fixed rear sight with square-notch. Includes a tulip head iron rammer. Back action lockplate is engraved "Mre Rle de St Entienne" and the top of the receiver tang is marked "Mle 1840". Condition overall is good, metal showing a cleaned appearance with areas of patina. There is fine cleaned pitting around the nipple. Front barrel band fits loosely. Wood shows old sanding with applied stain, now good with scattered chips and small cracks behind the trigger guard tang. Hammer operates smoothly and holds on full cock. There is no half cock. Bore rates good with visible rifling. Est.: $400-$700. (Antique)

Late Smith & Wesson No. 2 Old Army Tip-Up Single Action Revolver, #71857, .32 Long cal., 4" octagon barrel, blue finish, smooth rosewood two-piece square butt grips, unfluted cylinder with mid-line patent dates, German silver blade front and fixed "V"-notch rear sight, with spur trigger. Factory markings are clear with a legible barrel address. Mfg'd circa 1861-1874. The revolver is in near fine overall condition, retaining approx. 40%-50% thinning, reblued finish with wear at the muzzle, edges, and areas of light erosion. Cylinder displays a visible patent date, with edge wear and pitting under the newer finish. Underside of the barrel shows knackering and dents. Grips are fine with minor marks and scratches, interior of the right panel is marked with the matching serial number. Action functions and locks up securely. Allen & Wheelock Double Action Bar Hammer Single Shot Muff Pistol, #268, .36 cal., 3" octagon to round barrel, blue finish, smooth walnut two-piece bag grips, no sights. Action is lightly engraved. Marked "ALLEN & WHEELOCK" on top of barrel flat, marked "PATENTED / APRIL 16, 1845" on the left side of the hammer. Mfg'd circa 1850's. The pistol is in good overall condition, with the metal surfaces gone to light brown patina, with the octagon portion of the barrel showing dents and marks. Engraving remains clear with some scattered light surface erosion. Grips are very good with light indentations and marks, fitting well. Action functions well. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Unmarked "Boys Choice" Single Action 7-Shot Spur Trigger Revolver, #1321, .22 Short cal., 2.25" round barrel, nickel finish, smooth rosewood two-piece bird's head grips, ...moreGerman silver blade front and fixed square-notch rear sight, with a spur trigger. Marked "PATD APR 23 1878" on the left side of the barrel, "BOYSCHOICE" on top of the barrel. Mfg'd 1880's. This "Suicide Special" revolver is in good original condition with tiny traces of the original nickel finish present on the backstrap and butt, with the remainder gone to even dark brown patina. Interior of the cylinder is marked with the matching serial number. Grips are very good with minor marks and a good fit. Interior of the right grip is stamped with the matching serial number. Action functions well and locks up securely. Bore is dark with moderate erosion and pitting, partially visible rifling. Est.: $150-$300. (Antique)
