.70 cal., 7-3/8" tapered barrel marked with numeral 82 at breech, brass frame and triggerguard assembly, frame between hammer and pan marked with what appears to be a capital A. Walnut stock marked with six very old notches on left side, with steel ramrod. 

Condition:
Very good. Metal cleaned and showing grey patina with scattered pitting overall. Brass cleaned. Wood with wear and bruises, and Ill-fitting around frame.

Ornate 18th Century Italian Flintlock Pistol

.44 cal., 5-3/4” unmarked two-stage octagon-to-round brass barrel with cannon muzzle and molded bands, relief-carved walnut stock with ornate steel furniture, unmarked rococo-style lock with grotesque mask cock screw head, matching mask design on butt, ornate pierced steel wrist escutcheon and counterplate, with attached wooden ramrod. A very ornate and unique piece.













Condition:
Fair to good. Metal with age patina and spotting. Wood with edgewear and minor bruising. Possible replacement screw. Action is somewhat weak.

Fair to good with metal having an overall graying patina and some spotting. Wood having moderate bruising, and hairline cracks throughout.

.65 cal., 10-3/4" two-stage barrel with molded bands and faceted breech, unidentified maker's mark on left side of breech, traces of gold inlay remaining on breech, unmarked lock with gold-inlaid florals and panoplies, "Ship's prow" pan and roller frizzen, checkered relief-carved walnut stock, profusely inlaid with silver wire scrolls and floral blossoms, oval silver escutcheon on wrist with arms panoply, silver escutcheon on wrist with floral motif, relief-engraved silver furniture with panoplies of arms and flags with traces of gold-wash, pommel with ornate star pattern cap engraved with three-dimensional panoply.

Condition:
Good to very good. Barrel with brown age patina and heavy losses to gold inlay. Lock with age patina. Wood with minor losses and fraying to silver wire. Missing cleaning ramrod. Lock mechanism needs repair; will not stay on cock.

.54 cal., 9" damascus barrels with top of rib bearing gold-inlaid address: BROWN-LONDON. Roped pattern and gold-inlaid bands at breeches, dentate pattern banding at back of breech and floral-engraved tang, engraved screws, case-hardened and floral engraved flintlock mechanisms with legend: BROWN. Sliding safeties, double triggers, large circular triggerguard engraved with panoply of arms, gold-plated ship's prow pattern pans and roller frizzens, gold-plated touch holes, vacant shield-shaped silver wrist escutcheon, checkered walnut stock with blued steel furniture, hardwood cleaning rod with horn tip. Brown, John, London/GB 1798-1804. 104 Strand, 1804, 1 Little Queen St., Lincoln's Inn Fields.

Condition:
Fine to excellent. Barrels retaining much brown finish mixed with age patina and showing a spot of pitting on top of left barrel. Case-hardening retaining slight traces of color. Wood is excellent with light wear overall.

Sold together with two wooden muzzle plugs.

Condition:
Good as configured. Metal with scattered pitting and dark age patina overall. Both stocks with repairs, counterplates loose. Chips and splices to wood. Mechanically good. Hand-painted inventory panels on right sides of grips (would clean to better).

Excellent metal fit to wood.

Superb Cased Pair of English Flintlock Dueling Pistols, by Manton

Lot # 1018 (Sale Order: 19 of 730)      

Matched pair of English long barreled flintlock dueling pistols, by Manton, in .58 cal., 10” case-hardened smooth bore octagonal barrels, with address reading: Manton-London. Dovetailed sights, engraved tangs, locks marked: Manton.  Unadorned walnut stocks with blued engraved steel furniture, wooden ramrods with horn tips. Contained in original English walnut purple velour-lined partitioned case together with fluted powder flask and ball supply. Brass furniture and flush lock on case. 




 





 







Condition:
Very good. Retaining approx. 95% finish with light storage wear present. Case with wear and some breakage to partitions. Flask is good. Possibly refinished at some point. Impeccable fit of metal to wood. Actions are strong and tight on both. The pair are refinished, and flask is dented.

.54 cal. smoothbore, 8-11/16" barrel marked at breech "US/ET/P [in notched-edge circular cartouche]." Brass blade front sight. Tail of lockplate dated "1828." Forward of hammer marked "U.S./S.NORTH." Brass flashpan, without fence, steel finished brown, walnut stock with steel belthook on left side, inspection markings on left side opposite lock of "EF" cartouche, for Lt. Edgar Freeman, USN.  Triggerguard with small brass identification tag of Steve D'Arrigo marked "69."  Total mfg'd at 3,000. Majority of manufacture later converted to percussion. Final model of U.S. martial pistol mfg'd by Simeon North. (Stephen D'Arrigo Jr. Collection)



Condition:
Very good. Traces brown finish. Gray patina to steel with scattered oxidation and brown patina. Stock with wear and nicks, some chipping, more pronounced at tail of lock.

Rare U.S. Model 1812 Flintlock Army Pistol (aka Model 1811 Transition), by Simeon North, Berlin, Con

Lot # 1020 (Sale Order: 21 of 730)      

.69 cal. smoothbore, with 8-7/8" barrel, marked on breech "P/US/1774." The 1774 an inventory number. Upper tang stamped "P." Lockplate marked at tail "S. NORTH/BERLIN./CON." Forward of hammer marked with American eagle motif over "U.STATES." Small double cross motif stamped on several screws. Brass mountings with steel barrel band, umbrella-shaped buttcap. Walnut stock with "V" over inspector marking "HHP" of Henry H. Perkins, on left side opposite lock. Hickory ramrod. Triggerguard with small brass identification tag of Steve D'Arrigo marked "35."  Total mfg'd of approx. 550. With M.T. Wickham improvement of 1812, the double strap barrel band, requring shortening of fore-ends, approx. 2", with small retaining stud added.  (Stephen D'Arrigo Jr. Collection)
 



Condition:
Very good. Gray patina to steel, with scattered oxidation. Replacement top jaw and small replacement to wood above lock. Wood with scattered dents, primarily on left side, and two cracks from sideplate to barrel, with small wood repair using two pins.

Rare U.S. Model 1817 Flintlock Army Pistol, by Springfield Armory, dated 1818

Lot # 1021 (Sale Order: 22 of 730)      

.69 cal. smoothbore, 11-3/8" barrel, with breech markings "P/[eagle head motif]/V" on left side of breech, and date on breech, "1818." Lockplate marked vertically at tail "SPRING/FIELD/1818." Forward of hammer with American eagle and shield motif over "US." Triggerplate stamped "EA" forward of trigger. Tiny "o" stamped on hammer screw and pan and frizzen screws. Walnut stock with inspector marking "S" on left side opposite lock, "RC" on right grip above butt cap for stocker and inspector Russell Curtis. Marking for John Newbury initialed in script on left side of stock. Hickory ramrod with steel tip, slotted for cleaning cloth and threaded for attachment of worm. Triggerguard with small brass identification tag of Steve D'Arrigo marked "63."  Desirable gooseneck hammer configuration. Total mfg'd of Model 1817 at 1,000, of which approx. 400 made with gooseneck hammer. Note also on this variation the curled toe and pointed top to frizzen, spear point to frizzen spring finial and teat-finial to rear of lockplate. The Model 1817 was the first handgun mfg'd in quantity at the Springfield Armory, and one of the limited few models of handguns made at the Armory.  (Stephen D'Arrigo Jr. Collection)

Scarce Limited Edition Cased Reproduction Scottish Murdoch Flintlock Pistol by the U.S. Historical S

Lot # 1023 (Sale Order: 24 of 730)      

Serial no. 197, .60 cal., 7 5/8" barrel, adorned with floral scrolls and fluted at breech. Engraved belt hook. Fully scroll-engraved throughout, the in-the-white Scottish "Pitcairn" Murdoch pistol is a limited edition reproduction of the famous pistol whose shot reputedly started the Revolutionary War at Lexington on April 19th, 1775. Ball trigger, ram's horn butt with commemorative oval escutcheons on both sides of grip. Contained in original walnut case with leather paneled lid and ultra-marine blue velvet lining.

German silver diamond pattern barrel pin escutcheons, star pattern inlay on cheekrest, with wooden ramrod.

Very good. Steel showing age patina and scattered wear overall. Wood is excellent. Brass with age wear and patina. Patchbox lid does not lock. Action needs adjustment.
