Historic Terry's Ranger Texas Flag

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 443)

Historic Terry's Ranger Texas Flag. Terry's Rangers were organized by Benjamin Franklin Terry in September 1861. The unit had a little over a thousand men. It was one of ...morethe most courageous units during the Civil War. They Fought continuously from 1861 thru 1865 plus additional fighting after the war was over. There final official battle took place on March 31, 1865 in Bentonville, NC. The Rangers were referred by many different names during the War. The Story on the flag is that it was discovered in an attic in Va. between some old quilts in the early 1970's. Along with this flag was a Union flag which has long been sold. The gentleman liked this flag and put it in this frame and it hung in the home until now. The flag has been black lighted and it shows it is period cloth and stitching. As you can tell from the photo's it has several tears and pieces missing. It also has some tattering. I am unsure if it is a Battle flag or a reunion flag. The Flag is signed on The left hand side (Terry's Rangers 2nd Infantry Texas) Look close and these letters form an 8. The left reads (Sabine Pass, Galveston, Palmito Hill, Vicksburg, Millikins Bend, Jenkins Ferry). The flag measures an estimate 22in High by 35 1/4. Long. Please ask any questions before bidding
