1970 Mercedes Benz 280 SL – Twin 1

Lot # 201 (Sale Order: 1 of 87)

The Mercedes W113 series cars are the third generation of two door sport roadsters. These cars were built between 1963 and 1971, they were stylish, sporty and trendy and quickly became the car to be seen in by a more affluent crowd. In typical Mercedes fashion, the cars improved in performance and comfort over time, starting with the 230, 250 and 280 SL models. The handling was good, the performance was abundant and the car was comfortable. The came equipped with an potent inline six cylinder motor, 4 spd manual transmission or an optional automatic. They were offered with a soft top, a hard top or both. Throughout the 7 year production run, out side of some minor interior and exterior trim, the outward appearance saw very little change, staying true to it original design. The one piece “Fishbowl” Euro style headlights is probably the most fashionable feature of the SL, reminiscent of the early 300SL roadster. This car was once part of a collection of twin Mercedes SL’s owned by a gentleman who had two nearly identical cars built for his daughters. Each car was cosmetically and mechanically reconditioned to a showroom status. The bodies were stripped and a multiple fresh coats of gleaming black paint was applied. The interiors were recovered in high quality tan English leather hides with special dark brown colored piping. For an extra touch of class, beautiful Italian “Nardi” wood steering wheels and custom hand crafted matching  wood consoles were added. Both cars have air conditioning & automatic transmissions. All the mechanicals were serviced. These cars look like fine pieces of art, run like Swiss watches and incorporate the best German engineering. The only way to tell these near identical cars apart is by the Nardi steering wheels, one has silver spokes and the other has black. It is well know that the values of 300SL’s and 190 SL’s have set record numbers in the last few years, the W113’s are no exception. The 280 SL’s are the last and most desirable of the W113 series cars. The striking looks, limited production and superior drivability have made these 280 SL Benz’s very collectible.

2013 Chevy Camaro Convertible Hot Wheels Edition

Lot # 205 (Sale Order: 5 of 87)

• 1 of 57 built with the convertible, 6 spd, V8 option. • A few convertibles were used as a promo at the 2013 Indy 500 • Special Hot Wheels Edition – a $6995 upgrade • 2023 actual miles • All books and records • Original window sticker • Hot Wheels embroidered floor mats • Matching die cast car included • A rare & desirable car In 1968 Mattel introduced their new line of Hot Wheels toy cars called the “Sweet 16 Hot Wheels” edition. The set consisted of 16 really cool 1/43 scale toy cars which included the popular Pony cars of the day like the Mustang, Cougar, Firebird and Camaro. In 2013, 45 years later Chevrolet commemorated the series with a “Hot Wheels Sweet 16” edition, life size Camaro. These cars were offered to the public in four versions, Coupe and Convertible, V6 or V8. This $6995 Hot Wheels option package consisted of a special deluxe grey interior with Hot Wheels badging, black stitching and embroidered upholstery. Special blue metallic exterior paint and special mag wheels identified the outside of the car to look like the original Hot Wheels toy. This option could be ordered with of any the Camaro engine options. The Hot Wheels Camaro Convertibles were used as a promotional tool at the Indianapolis 500 in 2013. The Camaros at the Indy 500 were all automatic, had some graphics on them, and then were returned to Chevrolet dealers to be sold as used cars. This car is still in the wrapper with only 2023 miles on it with all its books and records. Rarer yet, it is one of only 57 Hot Wheels Camaro convertibles with a 6 speed manual transmission and eight cylinders. This is very a rare and desirable car.

1965 Chevy Corvette Roadster L78

Lot # 207 (Sale Order: 7 of 87)

Rare 1965 L78 396/425 Corvette Roadster. 3 year nut and bolt detailed restoration. 1 of only 2157 built, All correct date coded parts. Factory correct style side pipes, Knock off wheels. F40 Suspension, posi Traction. Competition built Big Block. The 60’s were competitive times in Detroit, racing and clever marketing were usually the drive behind sales, and performance sold! To compete with GM’s arch rival, Ford and the dominating mighty Ford 427 Shelby Cobra, the “C2” Corvette Stingray, now in its 3rd year, introduced its first official Big Block Corvette model. Badged as the “Turbo Jet 396” this 300.00 + option, known by its RPO order number “L78”, was a NASCAR 396 cubic inch big block, with a conservative factory rating of 425 hp. 1965 was also the first year for 4 wheel disc brakes, and plusher interior creature comforts. The three year complete frame and body off restoration was started in 2011 and completed in 2014. The car has only been driven less than a hundred miles. The restoration was completed to high standards and the car presents extremely well. The new paintwork is outstanding, with new chrome, stainless, wheels and glass. The black interior is all new or restored, to include the dash pads, carpets, instruments, switches, and door panels including leather seats and a Teakwood steering wheel. The engine compartment is extremely clean and has been very nicely detailed. Correct finishes are applied on the engine, and the components are not over-restored. (Although the engine looks stock, it has been bored to a larger displacement with racing internals). The underside is also extremely clean and detailed to similarly high standards. The “Mid-Year” Corvette Roadster before you personifies the free spirited 60’s car culture, this “Jan and Dean” style “Dead Man’s Curve” Vette has great stature: sleek and powerful, bright Rally Red color, Knock Off spinner wheels, Power Blister hood, 4spd, side pipes and over 500 horsepower at your fingertips, it doesn’t get any better than that.

1966 VW Beetle

Lot # 212 (Sale Order: 12 of 87)

1966 VW Beetle • Pearl white with Pigalle red leatherette interior • Cosmetic as well as mechanical restoration • Vintage 60’s style radio • Roof rack • Exterior side view mirror • Runs and drives beautifully – drive it anywhere! Who can’t recall owning or at least riding in an early Volkswagen Beetle? Even though it is one of Ferdinand Porsche’s best designs and is of course German made, the “Bug” is a part of Americana. If you have ever owned a 1966 Beetle, you probably have a feel for the things that made it special. There were some unique changes in the 1966 model year. The emergency flasher on the dash in 1966 was a one-year-only change, while other improvements, like the suspension, were more long-term changes that were incorporated into the Beetle. The 1966 model was also the only year for the 1300 engine and the last year of the 6-volt electrical system. At 50 horsepower you would think it would barely get out of its own way, but remember it only weighed 1,672 lbs! Offered here is a wonderful, fun to drive 66’ finished in Pearl White (paint code 687 13) over Pigalle red leatherette (code 75) interior. No better combination for an early Bug. Recently completed rebuild of the 1300cc motor makes this the perfect weekend car to drive anywhere. Oh yes, if you take it on a long trip, it comes with the optional roof rack for those extra bags!!

1961 Chevy Corvette

Lot # 214 (Sale Order: 14 of 87)

NCRS, AACA Show winner. Frame off restoration. Ermine White over Red. Matching Numbers. Rare Fuel Injection. Wonder Bar Radio, heater. 4 spd, Positraction. Chevrolet redesigned the Corvette for 1961. The rear design was the most pronounced external change for the 1961 Corvette, a kind of “ducktail” design that mimicked styling cues from Bill Mitchell’s Stingray XP-700 show car. This 1961 Corvette “Fuelie” is one of less than 300 built, and is a national AACA winner and NCRS show winner. This car has had a complete frame off nut and bolt restoration. This car has the original 283/315hp motor, matched number 4spd transmission and posi-traction rear end. The car featured here is finished in Ermine White over Roman Red upholstery; it has a soft top only, but has the optional Wonder Bar radio and heater. Tires are new wide whitewalls mounted on original wheels and full wheel covers.
