Custom Full Stock Left Hand Flintlock Rifle By Hansberry

Lot # 425 (Sale Order: 425 of 824)

.50 caliber, 41 1/2" octagon barrel with an excellent bore. The barrel features a rustic brown finish with chisel engraved lines and spider web patterns around the muzzle. The top flat is marked "(((Hansberry)))" and the barrel retains about 85% original finish the balance fading to gray which enhances the antiqued appearance. The plain, unmarked lock is a mottled gray while the brass furniture and remaining metal surfaces have a mild patina. The full length maple stock rates excellent and features tiger stripe patterns along its entirety, along with some lovely raised scallop shell and foliate carved patterns and silver inlay lines that further enhance its appeal. The stock features a brass forend cap, wedge pin escutcheons (the rear ones being in a elongated star or starfish shape), ramrod thimble and tailpipe, sideplate, triggerguard, left side patchbox, curved buttplate and right side cheekrest with a star pattern silver inlay. Most of the brass pieces have scallop designed engraved patterns similar to the raised designs on the stock. The lock escutcheon plate has a feathered arrow design and the cheekrest star has simple line engraving. Rifle is equipped with a silver blade front sight and has a basic leaf rear. The original wood ramrod is included. The lock functions perfectly. A truly wonderful contemporary Kentucky style left hand flintlock rifle. A rifle of this quality and caliber of workmanship will only appreciate over time and would be a wonderful investment for a left handed shooter or blackpowder arms collector. (46948-3) {ANTIQUE}
