New York Militia Hat Insignia Ca. 1820
Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 685)
6" x 5", gold stencil painted eagle and half globe early New York insignia on a dark crimson velvet oval. Appears to have had a device attached below the eagle at one time, now lacking. Has the remnants of stitching around the edge, probably once worn on the front of a top hat. Good example of early enrolled militia insignia.
Condition: Painted finish cracked with minor loss around the eagles neck and top of the left wing; some wear on the velvet at the top of the oval.

Approx. .40 caliber, 2.5" barrel. Brass frame, walnut round grip.
Condition: The brass has a mustard patina. The barrel is angled slightly downward. The safety is missing and the trigger appears to be backward.

58.5" x 17.75" x 9", pine with lid and rope handles, no markings. The size suggests that it may have once contained Model 1841 Mississippi rifles.
Condition: Good. Normal age and service wear.

Early Infantry Cartridge Box with Buff Leather Strap

This early Infantry leather cartridge box with consignor's note saying box is for .69 caliber cartridges with buff Mexican-American War period leather strap with brass eagle breast plate. There is also a brass oval "US" plate on the cover with pre-Civil War maker's mark "R. Dingee, N. York." Accompanied by one tin insert.
Condition: The condition of the box is overall good showing a lot of use and one inch of stitching torn on the rear left side.

.34 caliber, 6" round/octagonal barrel. The left flat of the barrel is marked Allen & Thurber Worcester Cast Steel. With rear sight mounted at breech of barrel, extending back towards the hammer. With early style triggerguard. Round profile walnut grips.
Condition: All metal parts have a mottled grey patina. Missing ramrod and rear sight adjustment screw. The grips have some nicks and dings. The bore is in good condition and could be cleaned to better condition.

.31 caliber, 3" barrels. With scroll engraved frame and nipple shield. The bar-type hammer is marked Allen's Patent 1845. The barrel is marked Allen & Thurber Worcester. With dogleg walnut grips.
Condition: The barrel and frame have a mottled grey patina. All the nipples are intact. The grips have some nicks and dings. The bores are in good condition.

.36 caliber, 7.5" barrel, S/N 9681. Blue finish with case-hardened loading lever and hammer. Brass frame with walnut grips. With leather "Slim Jim" holster.
Condition: The bore could use a cleaning, otherwise all is in very good condition.

.36 caliber, 6" barrel, S/N 207101. All matching serial numbers. Single-line company name and address on top flat of barrel. Brass grip-strap and triggerguard with walnut grips.
Condition: The revolver is in near relic condition. The barrel and frame have a mottled plum patina. The cylinder has some dings and oxidization, and the loading lever is slightly bent. The grips have a few nicks and dings, but are in good overall condition.

.31 caliber, 5.5" octagonal barrel, no S/N. Two-piece walnut grips. Engraved metal in the white.
Condition: Metal has been cleaned to bright and has some surface staining. Grips are good with some original varnish left. Mechanically it works.

.580 bore diameter, 6.25" flared octagonal barrel with sawtooth-style rifling. Lockplate marked Delinee Amsterdam. Engraved iron mounts, checkered empire buttstock. Top of barrel with ELG marking.
Condition: All metal is dark with some rust. Stock is sharp and crisp.

Two Percussion Colt's Patent Molds
Lot # 25 (Sale Order: 25 of 685)
Lot of two Colt's patent molds including a brass mold with "S" stamp on face of right "leg" and an iron mold with sprue cutter for a Root revolver, with a "7" stamped on the side of the right "leg" near the hinge. Both appear to be .31 caliber.
Condition: The brass mold is in overall good condition with a dark patina. The iron mold is overall very good + displaying the majority of its original blued finish.
