Featured in this lot is this beautifully crafted sterling and Kingman turquoise ring done by renowned Navajo silversmith Richard Singer. Richard Singer is a third-generation Navajo artist from Standing Horse Mesa on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. Richard is of the Ta’neeszahnill (Tangle) Clan, born for the Kinyaa’a’snii (Tower House) Clan. Richard’s grandfather, Tsinnigine Hathali, was a Navajo Medicine Man and silversmith. He taught his son Thomas “Tommy” Singer the art of silversmithing beginning at the age of seven. Thomas Singer went on to become a Master Silversmith and renowned artist. As a child, Richard watched his aunts, uncles, and father complete beautiful creations from silver and stone in both inlay and overlay pieces. But it wasn’t until 1989, at the age of 20, when he began to seek other means of income to make ends meet that he took up an apprenticeship in his father’s trade. This example is stamped / signed, “R. Singer (feather) 925”. The ring shows a wonderfully detailed dragonfly effigy design with a polished cabochon of Kingman turquoise set in the top left of the dragonfly. The piece is like new and in amazing condition. The ring measures 2 1/4" L x 2 5/8" W x 7/8" D and has a ring size of US 8 1/2. The Kingman turquoise cabochon measures 1/4" L x 1/4" W. The ring weighs 18.6 grams.
