Manon Elder's initial travels into motorcycle art started in 2001 when the subject of a portrait sitting asked to be painted on his Harley. She obliged and was surprised by her attraction to painting chrome surfaces and mechanical intricacies. Intrigued by the relationship between motorcycle and the rider, Elder — a portrait painter for 15 years before that — saw the glimmerings of a new path open up. She found that the motorcycle culture resonated with her own desire to experience new adventures in new locations.
"In 2003, Elder had a chance to pursue this new inspiration and did so with an enthusiastic vengeance. She has immersed herself in understanding the essence of the riding experience: the relationships between the bikes, the riders and the landscapes they travel through.

Originally done in 1975, this work demonsrates Bailiey's clean, stylish approach to the age-old form of the still life.
William Bailey (1930 - ) pursued his art career at Yale, where he befriended Willem De Kooning and Jackson Pollock. He developed a neat, and modern style, with a new perception on the still life. Bailey has exhibited in the U.S. and Europe, and his work is found in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Joseph Hirshhorn Muesum. He has won a Guggenheim Fellowship, and was elected to the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. He has taught art for many years, and continues to teach at this Alma Mater.

Jan Peter Tripp was born in Oberstdof, West Germany in 1945. Between 1967 and 1970, he attended the Stuttgart Art Academy after which he studied under Rudolf Hausner at the Vienna Art Academy, from 1970 until 1972. .
Numerous museum shows have featured Tripp's work, including the Goethe Institute in Paris and in Toulouse; The State Gallery Peschkenhaus in Moers, West Germany; the State Gallery of Biberach, West Germany; Museum Amersfort in Holland; Museum of Warsaw in Poland, and the Montreal Museum in Canada. The artist lives and works in France.

Peter Milton (b. 1930) is an American artist known for his black and white etchings and engravings that often display an extraordinary degree of photo realistic detail. Milton's artistic oeuvre explores many sublime themes, including myth, memory and romance. Milton often juxtaposes and intersects themes to create jarring impressions. The artist received his MFA from Yale University in 1961. His work has been exhibited in most major museums in the U.S. and Europe, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the British Museum and the Tate Gallery, London, and the Bibliothéque Nationale, Paris. Two major book-collections of Milton's work have been published.

Chuck Close often shoots faces, so it's interesting here that he chose to focus on the torsos, making this portrait a rather different one for him, but still with his signature impact.
Chuck Close (1940- ) is widely known for his Photo-Realism in the Pop Art style. His early inspiration was a painter, Jackson Pollock, who inspired his own painting. His art training included a B.F.A. and M.F.A. degree with highest honors from Yale University, as well as a Fulbright Scholarship. His subjects for photographs often included people he knew, and he depicted everything with stark realism. His work has appeared in numerous exhibitions around the world, and can be found in many public and private collections. He has influenced generations of photographers, and remains an extremely popular artist to this day.
