Winchester 1895 Rifle, SN 46281 in famous .405 caliber, Mfg. in 1904. Manufactured in the first year the 1895 was chambered in the .405 caliber, famously used by Teddy Roosevelt on his Africa Expedition of 1909. This rifle has the early tang markings, “-WINCHESTER MODEL 1895-“ and retains a pleasing 60-70% of factory original blue finish showing signs of honest wear but not abuse. Case colors still visible on hammer and trigger housing. Solid action, bore has strong lands and grooves, but is dark with pitting throughout. Wood stocks are solid and proud to the metal with original varnish present and wearing throughout from honest use. Ebony piece forearm. Will be sold with Winchester Factory Letter confirming date of manufacture as July 19, 1904, Rifle, caliber .405 with X Grade Stock. Shipped from warehouse on August 31, 1904. Nice representative 1895 rifle in the .405. (MODERN)

Metal is sm...moreooth patina, left side of the receiver is tapped for Winchester style receiver sight. Stocks proud around the metal, however the top forearm has a split running the entire length of the forearm. The stock is not loose, but is split, this was a common problem with the thin top forearm woods of the 1895 SRC’s. Bore is dark with pitting but retains strong lands and grooves. Original carbine sights. Would make a good shooter/hunter carbine. (MODERN)

Winchester 1895 Rifle, SN 235011, 7.62 mm Russian caliber. This rifle was originally a Russian Contract Musket; cutdown to a 23 1/2" barrel, forearm stock has been sande...mored into a sporterized style. Receiver has pitting in the metal and has been refinished. Original clip guide on the frame has been removed revealing the cut dovetail on each side of the receiver. Wood stocks show significant wear and the rear buttstock has a slot cut into the underside of the stock. Bore has good land and grooves, but dark and pitted. Rifle is in usable condition with tight action chambered in a rare caliber for the 1895 rifle. We believe that the rear sight on this rifle is not original. Stock has a notch in the wood. (MODERN)
