Description

Alderfer Auction is honored to present the Medals, Militaria and British Empire collection of Mr. Stanley R. Bright (1933-2021) in a single owner offering. Mr. Bright was a graduate of Rutgers University and served his country in the United States Air Force. He later obtained his law degree from Rutgers Law School and was an active member of the bar in several states.

In addition to being a productive member of the legal community, Mr. Bright was a student of history, a collector of military medals, historical materials, and items related to the British monarchy. His interest in materials related to the British Empire can be traced back to his English born parents. A great portion of his interest in medals and militaria arose from his uncles, who served in the Royal Air Force during World War II.

His collecting passion and scholarly approach enabled Mr. Bright to amass a fine representative collection of British medals, particularly those awarded in World War I for soldier’s service in France, Gallipoli and other European battlefields. The auction will include...

F. 7 F.A.". 3.) Aluminum military ID disc (attached to chain of ID bracelet stamped "JOHN E. MCNALLY 128099 USA". 4.) Real photographic postcard of pair of WWI soldiers in uniform with one soldier identified on reverse of card as Cpl. John J. Donavon, supply Co. 302, AEF. Presumably other soldier is McNally. 5.) Discharge certificate dated September 27, 1919 of Corporal John E. McNally giving details on McNally's service. 6.) Warrant making McNally corporal dated November 1, 1917. 7.) Photographs measure 5" x 8" and 5" x 6.5". 3.) Tribute certificate to Comrade Sarovich dated 1943 measuring 12" x 8.5". 4.) Presentation book for the defense of Leningrad presented to Konstantin Suvorov dated October 14, 1944. Book measures 8.5" x 12" and exhibits spine weakness and some staining. 5.) Homefront tribute certificate to Olga Mikhailovna measuring 12" x 8.5". 6.) Tribute certificate for Comrade Pekelis for manufacture of machinery parts dated Omsk, 1946. Certificate measures 12" x 8.5". 7.) Marksman qualification certificate for Comrade Polyakov dated August 26, 1930. Certificate measures 14" x 10" and is housed in frame measuring 14" x 11". 8.) Tank training certificate for Comrade Polyakov dated February 29, 1940. Certificate measures 14" x 10" and is housed in frame measuring 17" x 11".
