Savage Model 99-EG Pre-War Lever Action Rifle

Lot # 1055 (Sale Order: 1055 of 1099)      

serial #369473, 300 Savage, 24" plain barrel with an excellent bore. This late 1930"s era rifle has been used but not abused. The receiver is gunmetal gray while the barrel has worn to smoky gray with traces of original blue in the protected edges. The lever is pewter with muted case-hardened colors on the sides. The pistol grip buttstock is in very good condition as cleaned with light handling marks, fine checks on the left side and a fine crack behind the upper tang. The forend is equipped with a Schnabel and rates near excellent as cleaned with a few light handling marks. The rifle features 1 1/2" sling swivels, D.W. King Bead front sight on a ramp, later replacement elevator leaf sight and the numbers on the forend, buttplate and buttstock match. A great woods gun. (87249-78) {C&R}

Savage Model 1899-H Pre-War Lightweight Takedown Carbine

Lot # 1056 (Sale Order: 1056 of 1099)      

serial #126120, 22 Savage Hi-Power, 20" lightweight barrel with an excellent bore. This rifle has had the buttstock modified and refinished. The metal surfaces retain about 50% original blue finish with the receiver wearing to gunmetal gray but strong blue remaining in the protected areas. The barrel is a mottled mix of smoky gray and blue along with light handling marks on the metal surfaces and pinprick pitting. The lever is mostly gunmetal gray with some case-hardened colors present in the protected areas. The straight grip buttstock and Schnabel forend rate good to very good as refurbished. The buttstock"s length of pull has been increased to 14" by removing the original buttplate, adding wood; poorly done. A Fajen buttplate was added and the sides covered with a rubbery substance. The factory bead front sight is still present but the rear sight has been removed and aluminum slot filler installed and contoured to match the barrel. A Marbles Automatic Flexible Joint tang rear sight with no aperture disc has been installed. Barrel to frame remains tight. (87249-84)

U.S. Model 1897 Trench Shotgun By Winchester

Lot # 1057 (Sale Order: 1057 of 1099)      

serial #693028, 12 ga., 20" barrel choked cylinder with the first half of the barrel lightly oxidized. The metal surfaces have reapplied blue finish with about 97% remaining, exhibits old pitting and dings under the new finish. The replacement buttstock is of the later fluted comb design, and rates fair to good with scattered dents, dings, scratches and repaired piece of wood on the right side wrist. The military sling swivel was removed from the bottom and amateurishly installed on the left side center with the original inletted sling swivel mount hole plugged with the same skill level. A Remington synthetic buttplate was installed but not fitted. The forend rates good to very good with reapplied finish and a prominent dent on the left side. The barrel has a correct "CYL" marking and a slightly washed out "U.S. / (ordnance bomb)" appears correctly by the front of the ejection port. A 1944 dated Victory Manufacturing Co. M-1 Rifle or Carbine canvas muzzle cover is included. (87249-13) {C&R}

The satin stainless steel surfaces are in very good to excellent condition with light high edge wear and some silvering on the left front of the slide. The one piece checkered black plastic grips are in good to very good condition with scattered light compression of the diamond points. The pistol features Novak three dot night sights that are no longer functioning and ambidextrous slide mounted de-cocker / safety. Walther Model PP Semi-Auto Pistol By Manurhin

serial #428570, 32 ACP, 3 3/4" barrel with an excellent bore. This importer marked pistol retains about 97% original blue finish with some light silvering at the muzzle. The checkered brown plastic grips rate excellent and are marked with the Manurhin logo and "LIC.WALTHER.PP". This pistol has the number "JW2450" neatly hand stamped on the frontstrap and the slide has the Manurhin markings. The pistol includes the original factory box that is correctly end labeled and numbered to the gun. The box is also marked with the secondary JW2450 number. Also included are a single magazine with brown extended floorplate, a second magazine with flat metal floorplate and a brass cleaning rod. (87330-171)

Smith & Wesson Model 36 Chiefs Special Revolver

Lot # 1060 (Sale Order: 1060 of 1099)      

serial #389603, 38 Special, 1 7/8" pinned barrel with an excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 97% original and factory reapplied nickel finish with scattered light blistering, oxidation blemishes, pinprick pitting and clouding. The standard hammer and trigger retain robust case-hardened colors with some scattered light oxidation blemishes on the trigger and operational marks on the hammer. The diamond checkered walnut factory grips with silver S&W medallions are in near excellent condition with minor handling marks. The revolver has factory five pointed star return marks with no date. Based on the marking it appears the crane, cylinder and extractor were serviced in addition to the refinish. The grips, cylinder, barrel and extractor are numbered to the gun but the crane is only assembly numbered to the gun. The cylinder and extractor numbers are later stamped. The gun includes the original silver factory box that is correctly end labeled and numbered to the gun, cleaning kit and manual. (87306-3)

Custom Colt Single Action Buntline Scout Revolver

Lot # 1061 (Sale Order: 1061 of 1099)      

serial #64172F, 22 LR, 9 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. This 1959 made revolver has been fitted with a brass grip and triggerguard frame and one piece style grips. The metal surfaces retain about 96% original blue and anodized finishes with some high edge wear on the barrel and cylinder, a turn ring on the cylinder and a few scattered scratches. The brass grip frame has mellowed to a light ochre color with some light handling marks. The walnut grips are not marked or numbered and rate very good with a few light dents and scratches. The backstrap is engraved "Lynn Houston Harrison / "1959"". Although it cannot be confirmed there was a Lynn "Houston" Harrison that was a talented Tennessee gunsmith born in 1937 and worked for DuPont Industries. His passion was building and restoring flintlock long rifles and he was a skilled engraver. He achieved some national recognition for his talent and some of his gun making equipment rests at the Tennessee State Museum. The name on the backstrap was professionally engraved and may have been done by his own hand. (87243-13){C&R}

serial #806031, 12 ga, 32" plain barrel choked full with a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains 97% original blue finish having a small ding on the right side near the muzzle and light loss ahead of the breech area likely from a contaminate. The frame retains 98% original blue having slight loss and handling marks present. The walnut buttstock rates excellent as it has been replaced displaying a few light handling marks and a very thin 1" hairline crack on the right side where the wood meets the frame. The original grooved forend rates excellent displaying a few light handling marks over a dark oiled finish. The buttstock wears a hard rubber buttplate providing a length of pull of 14 1/4". Fine American Standard Tool Company Pocket Revolver

Lot # 1065 (Sale Order: 1065 of 1099)      

serial #429, 22 RF, 3" octagon barrel with a very good bore having good evident rifling with light pitting and frosting the entire length. This is a fine revolver and is pictured and listed by serial number in Nutter's book in figure 62, pages 196 & 197. The barrel retains near 95% original toning to brown, the cylinder has toned to brown with a strong cylinder scene still visible. The frame retains about 80% original silver plate with the exposed brass a pleasing goldenrod patina. The smooth walnut grips rate near very good with much original varnish, light handling marks and a small chip along the top of the right panel which is also pencil-numbered to the gun. The frame, barrel and cylinder are numbered alike and the action remains strong and functions properly. A recoil shield has been affixed to the frame during the period of use. Parker Gh Grade Boxlock Double Shotgun

serial #78962, 12 ga, 30" twist steel barrels choked full and modified caliber with bright excellent bores. The barrels that have a Damascus pattern have been blued over displaying scattered light pits and moderate surface oxidation primarily near the breeches. The frame has an added blue finish which has moderate areas of surface oxidation and displays scroll engraved game scenes of birds on the sides and the bottom surrounded by loose scroll. The walnut checkered pistolgrip buttstock and forend rate very good displaying a few scratches and dings along with a small crack on the right side of the stock. The buttstock has un-engraved monogram plate and its original Parker recoil pad which provides a length of pull of 13 1/2" and with drops of 1 3/4" and 3 1/4". Brazilian Model 1908 Mauser Rifle By Dwm

Lot # 1067 (Sale Order: 1067 of 1099)      

serial #9811k, 7mm Mauser, 29 1/2" barrel with a very good, gray lightly frosted bore. The metal surfaces retain about 95% of what appears to be the original blue with areas of light handling wear and light surface oxidation present. The receiver and buttplate remain in-the-white with light staining and the buttplate has more minor oxidation. The walnut stocks rate excellent and have a few light dings. The buttstock has crisp markings and some light chipping at the toe. The numbers, including the stock number, are matching. The receiver markings including the Brazilian crest are crisp, as are the stock markings including the Star-of-David cartouche on the right side of the butt. A cleaning rod and brass muzzle cover are included as is a leather sling, leather receiver cover and bayonet with scabbard. The sling is in poor condition, but the bayonet rates excellent. Rifle was imported by Springfield Armory Inc. in IL, and is in excellent condition overall. (46869-11) {C&R}

The rifle features a six-position M4-style telescoping stock by Tapco with a slip-on recoil pad; the stock rates excellent and exhibits only a minor scratch on its right side. The rifle also features a picatinny quadrail which rates near excellent, exhibiting a few minor marks. Included with the rifle are a 5 round steel magazine and an unmarked quick-detach picatinny optics mount. The rifle features its bayonet lug and cleaning rod, as well as an installed muzzle break by Tapco. (7312-1)
