Lot # 203 (Sale Order: 203 of 1099)

serial #3042, 30 RF, 3" four barrel cluster with lightly frosted bores. This is a superb pistol that includes the original bill of sale to purchaser. Garden of 29 Piccadilly, London, for 3 pounds sterling " 15 shillings " 6 pence, is included. This is a superb pistol with a seldom seen original bill of sale. Fine Philadelphia Percussion Halfstock Sporting Rifle By John Wurfflein

Lot # 204 (Sale Order: 204 of 1099)

.45 caliber, 33" octagon barrel with an excellent bright bore. This rifle, while rather unembellished, remains in fabulous original condition. The top of the barrel is marked "JOHN WURFFLEIN PHILADA" and the back action lock is marked simply "J.WURFFLEIN". The barrel shows a patent breech with tasteful flash deflector. The barrel retains 90% evenly thinning original brown finish which is blending with a smooth brown patina with no pitting present and with markings remaining crisp and clear. The lock retains a pleasing mix of what appears to be original oil quenched case-hardened finish blending with a smooth brown patina. The checkered straight grip walnut stock features a nice shadowline cheekpiece and has a German silver finger spur triggerguard, buttplate, toeplate, stylized fleur-de-lis lock screw washer and simple oval wedge escutcheons with the forend tip being of pewter. The condition of the stock is excellent with 85% original finish remaining and with strong clean checkering. The rifle is equipped with its original adjustable double set triggers which function properly and it is sighted with a beaded blade front and simple open rear sight. Sling swivels are present mounted on bottom of middle ramrod ferrule and in toeline of stock - they appear to be original equipment. Lot # 205 (Sale Order: 205 of 1099)

serial #60243, 405 WCF, 24" barrel with a very good bore that retains strong rifling but shows a light frosting throughout. The metal surfaces retain 85% original blue with the barrel beginning to fade towards brown and the receiver and lever showing some areas that are brown and gray-brown. There is some scattered light freckling and some light spotty oxidation throughout as well as a couple of spots of light pitting. The smooth walnut stock and schnabel tipped forearm with ebony insert rate very good to near excellent with multiple light dings and scratches, a small chip by the receiver on the buttstock, a short crack by the heel, and a couple of spots of light gray paint splatter. The buttstock is fitted with a red rubber recoil pad over a hard rubber spacer with the widow"s peak still in place, ergo the stock is uncut. !!! NOTICE: This lot has a discrepancy. Please CLICK HERE for the discrepancy list.

Colt Model 1877 Lightning Revolver

Lot # 212 (Sale Order: 212 of 1099)

serial #132580, 38 Colt, 4 1/2" barrel with a bright about excellent bore which shows only a few spots of sparsely scattered light pitting. The barrel itself retains about 90% original blue with even wear, some minor handling marks and some light pitting near the muzzle; the ejector rod housing showing blue in the protected areas with a small ding at its tip. The cylinder shows a bit less blue, perhaps 75%, with minor wear, some areas of light oxidation and a few spots of light pitting. U.S. Model 1917 Revolver By Colt, Civilian Sold

Lot # 214 (Sale Order: 214 of 1099)

serial #304901, 45 ACP/Rim, 5 1/2" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain 98% original blue over the typical hasty First World War wartime polish. There are a few spots of light oxidation present and the beginning of some flaking to brown on the underside of the barrel. All of the hasty wartime polish including the sight feathering is crisp. The Colts address and patent dates are atop the barrel (the last patent date is July 1905) with the caliber marking on the left side "Colt DA 45" and Rampant Colt on the sideplate. There is no "United States Property" marking nor are there any U.S. government inspector markings on the gun. Indeed the bottom of the butt has been very neatly cleaned of the U.S. Army model and Army inventory number, it would appear as though the lanyard loop was installed post-cleaning as it fits very tightly to the frame without an appreciable gap between its base, as would occur were the frame drilled for the lanyard loop, the loop removed, then the roll-mark cleaned, then the loop reinstalled. The bright-polished sides of the hammer show some light oxidation and the smooth walnut grips rate very good with light handling marks overall, the left grip pencil-numbered "305198", the right grip pencil-numbered "303348". The gun times and locks up as well as the day at first left the Hartford plant. A very interesting Colt double action revolver still in a very fine state of condition. (37325-14) {C&R}

Special Order Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle

Lot # 215 (Sale Order: 215 of 1099)

serial #162469A, 38 WCF, 24" barrel with a bright very good bore which shows strong rifling but with some spots of scattered light pitting, a couple slightly more moderate. The barrel is primarily a dark gray-blue, faded original blue patina with some toning to pewter and scattered light spots of oxidation and a couple spots of light pitting near the receiver and at the muzzle. The barrel has a number of circumferential score marks scattered about its full length, they are light in character. The nosecap and button magazine have toned to a pewter and plum with some generous trace original blue. The sideplates and receiver retain perhaps 30% fading original blue, the balance flaked to brown with toning to pewter on the high edges and contact spots. There are areas of oxidation, primarily on the left plate and flats with some scattered light pitting, most prevalent in the carry area of the frame, there is some strong fire temper blue remaining on the loading gate. The straight grip walnut buttstock rates very good as lightly cleaned, now devoid of finish. There are the remnants of some light dings and handling marks with the wood adjacent to the frame slightly dark, also showing a 1" crack at the right of the upper tang. The forend is in a similar state of condition showing a bit more wear and being slightly loose-fitting. The wood remains proud for the most part, the buttplate now slightly ill-fitting, showing a bit of oxidation staining leaching in from beneath the buttplate. The original sights are intact as is the dust cover and the mechanism seems to operate properly with the "38 Cal." still present on the cartridge lifter; the filler screws are not present in the tang. Still a very attractive 1884-manufactured special-order 1873 third model with its button magazine. (37292-60) {ANTIQUE} [Tom Varrell Collection]

H A Lindner Charles Daly Empire Grade Single Barrel Trap Shotgun

Lot # 222 (Sale Order: 222 of 1099)

serial #2442, 12 ga., 32" ventilated rib barrel choked full with a bright excellent bore which shows one spot of very light pitting about halfway down its length. The Krupp fluid steel barrel shows light engraving at the breeches and has a nice matted ventilated rib with dual ivory target beads. The frame shows nice quality light scroll engraving with geometric matting atop the heavily bolstered frame. It is primarily a mottled pewter gray patina with perhaps 50% original colors showing primarily in the protected areas beneath the bolsters. The checkered capped pistolgrip English walnut buttstock rates very good plus to excellent with only a few light handling marks from the years showing a length of pull to the solid hard rubber recoil pad of 14 1/2" with drops of 1 1/4" and 2 1/4". The splinter forend rates about very good as well showing a couple very small cracks along its rear edge and one small rectangular repair from many years ago. Lockup seems tight with the top lever drifting just slightly left of center. Really a very nice quality-made Lindner gun overall still in an attractive state of condition. (37346-1) {C&R}

The barrel is equipped with a side mounted bayonet lug and has an adjustable winged front sight with gold demarcations and a military style rear sight with gold accented lines as well.
