Colt Woodsman Sport Model Semi-Auto Pistol with King Gunsight Modifications

Lot # 377 (Sale Order: 376 of 699)

serial #180678, 22 LR, 4 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. This beautiful little gun has several King Gun Sight upgrades but appears to have seen little use. It retains about 99% original blue with slight wear near the muzzle. The grips are aftermarket checkered walnut thumb rest walnut extension grips (right panel only), and rate excellent overall. They are unmarked but are of good quality and add a nice feel to the gun. This gun has a few features from the old masters at King's including their micrometer click adjustable rear sight with semi-rib, ramp reflector front sight with Patridge blade and overtravel stop installed from the front of the frame (the reflector in the front sight is missing). A single Colt two-tone magazine is provided. Many collectors and shooters are seeking out the guns modified by Kings for their fine workmanship and value. This gun looks like it would be a lot of fun to run the occasional box of ammo through and still retain great collectors value. (88449-27) {C&R}

Smith & Wesson 1st Model 44 Hand Ejector Revolver

Lot # 378 (Sale Order: 377 of 699)

serial #10630, 44 Special, 6 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore with a few faint pinprick pits. This is the famed "Triple Lock" held in such high regard by many of the contemporary shooters such as Elmer Keith. This lovely specimen has been factory refurbished in February, 1952 with about 99% original and reapplied blue finish exhibiting slight edge wear at the muzzle and a turn ring on the cylinder. The barrel and cylinder show old pinprick pitting under the new finish but the frame is quite smooth overall. The sideplate is a replacement but is assembly numbered to the gun and displays crisp S&W logo under the original finish. The service style hammer and trigger have faded to gray with a few minor operational marks. The diamond checkered walnut factory grips with gold S&W medallions are numbered to the gun and rate excellent. All the appropriate parts are correctly numbered to the gun and it still times and locks up like it just left Springfield. Despite the re-finish, the markings on the barrel are crisp and there are refurbish marks and dates present on the grip frame. A lanyard loop was added to the butt and the serial number transferred to the inside of the left grip frame. A wonderful example of a New Century revolvers that are highly sought after by collectors. British Contract Colt New Service Revolver

Lot # 381 (Sale Order: 380 of 699)

serial #136558, 455 Colt (Webley), 5 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. This 1917 made revolver still retains strong condition after years of service with the Commonwealth. The metal surfaces retain about 75% original blue finish with many surfaces starting to thin to smoky gray. The barrel has scattered pitting that was lightly cold blued in past but the remaining finish appears true. There are the expected very light handling marks and minor freckling. The trigger has fading but strong Nitre blue color as does the hammer's spur with oxidation stains on the sides. The hard rubber grips with "Colt" in an oval are numbered to the gun and rate about very good plus with compressed diamond points plus dents and dings, mostly around the butt. The British proof and ownership marks are crisp with good clean factory markings. There is light screw slot damage but the lanyard loop is still present. Many of the British contract guns were converted to 45 Colt but this one has been spared that indignity and remains original with honest wear. A very desirable British contract gun. A partial box of scarce vintage ammunition follows to complete your acquisition. (88701-1) {C&R}

Rare Box of Winchester Repeating Arms Company 455 Colt Cartridges

Lot # 382 (Sale Order: 381 of 699)

This lot consist of a single two-piece orange box with attached green label on the cover. The label has the box quantity in the upper corners with "WINCHESTER" across the top. Under the name is ".455 COLT CARTRIDGES" over a picture of the cartridge flanked by "17 GRAINS / POWDER" on the left and "265 GRAIN BULLET" on the right. Under the picture of the cartridge is "ADAPTED ESPCIALLY FOR / COLT OR WEBLEY NEW SERVICE REVOLVER". The cartridge and firearm information are also listed on three sides of the cover with the two end messages over stamped with a large red "W". The box rates about very good with strong seams, edge wear, slightly flaking label and light soiling. The base rates about the same with overall strong seams, light handling wear and short tear on one end in the seam. There are (42) .455 Colt cartridges in the box head stamped "W.R.A. Co. / 455 COLT. The cases are lightly tarnished with a few showing light oxidation blemishes and are equipped with small copper primers. The bullets are 265-grain round nose flat points with light lead oxide. Some of the meplat on the bullets show light denting and five have been "X'd" by one of the previous owners. The "X" was probably to enhance expansion but that huge flat meplat gave these cartridges plenty of "thump". Overall, the package and content rate about very good plus. A great addition to the .455 New Service previously listed. (88701-2)
