Laz work done in Tiflis, the grips of elephant, mounted in engraved and nielloed silver. The lightly curved, heirloom blade well balanced, with double fullers and etched motifs of a cross and orb in a panel at the forte. The wooden scabbard covered in leather, the silver mounts engraved and nielloed en suite with the hilt and struck Tiflis 84 purity stamps. Light wear, small stud lacking from hilt. Quite similar examples belonging to the Caucasian Collection of the State Historical Museum, Moscow, appears in E.G. Astvatsaturian, Weapons of the Caucasian Peoples, St. Petersburg, Atlant Publishers, 2004, p. 258 and passim. Overall length 99.5 cm. Condition II
