Rare Early WW2 U.S. M1941 Artic Field Jacket-U.S. Army 90th Infantry Division Soldiers-Etc.

Lot # 166 (Sale Order: 199 of 288)

The contract/size label is not present but the stitch outline is visible at the interior collar. This jacket is an approx. size 40. Heavier construction than the standard...more M41 lightweight field jacket. Thicker water repellent/wind resistant outer cotton shell with thicker mustard brown kersey wool lining. Slash front pockets and adjustment straps on the cuffs and each side of the waist. These rare M1941 Artic jackets were made for wear as an over garment for additional warmth. U.S. tanker crews in cold weather war zones also preferred this type of jacket. In excellent overall condition exhibiting moderate combat field wear and soiling. 6 button front and a heavy duty CONMAR zipper assembly that functions smoothly. These original M1941 Artic Jackets rarely come onto the collector market and at this time there appears to be only one company that makes a fairly decent reproduction for reenactment. The last photo from the national Archives is of a 90th Infantry Division soldier with this type jacket in wear.
