Named WW2 "Operation Dragoon" 17th Airborne 194th GIR Ike Jacket/Photos/Invasion Flag Grouping

Lot # 81 (Sale Order: 90 of 257)

Named to Tech Cpl. Blair Harmon. Ike jacket has Harmon's name and is dated May 1944 and is a size 40R. 2 piece 17th Airborne patch with victory style stitching. Glider wi...morengs are pin back. 5 place ribbon bar with ETO ribbon having 3 battle stars. Clutch back CIB with sterling hallmark. Enlisted overseas cap with blue infantry piping and a loose glider/para troops cap patch. Nicely hand made 17th Airborne wood block. The invasion flag patch has been uniform removed and Harmon has written the date of the "Operation Dragoon" Aug. 15, 1944 and the French cities he fought in. There is a framed photo board depicting Harmon in full combat gear and several glider photographs. We have not examined them outside of the plastic frame but believe them to be period. There is also a 17th Airborne Assoc. reunion patch. Harmon was with the 550th Glider Infantry Battalion which was assigned to the 1st Airborne Task Force when he made his combat jump during Operation Dragoon. The 550th was later attached in December 1944 to the 194th Glider Infantry Regiment during the Battle Of The Bulge. When the 550th was consolidated into the 193rd GIR in Feb. of 1945 Harmon must have stayed with the 194th GIR and served with the European Occupation of Germany until August 14, 1945 as evidenced by the Occupation Medal ribbon on his Ike jacket. Very scarce and historical grouping!

WW2 US Class A Enlisted Tunic-5th Army/3rd Ranger Bn. And 3rd Infantry Division-Sgt. 1st Class

Lot # 88 (Sale Order: 97 of 257)

Patch configuration makes sense…The 5th Army was activated in The French Morocco in 1943 and was responsible for the planning of the invasion of mainland Italy. During th...moree battle of Cisterna the 3rd Ranger Bn. Serving under the 6615th Ranger Force and the 3rd Infantry Division were both involved. The 3rd Ranger Battalion was decimated. Supposedly only a handful of the men with the 3rd Ranger Bn. return to Allied lines...There is a Purple Heart ribbon and ETO ribbon with one battle star...Tunic is not named but could quite possibly have belonged to one of those 3rd Ranger survivors..Just a little food for thought..:) .All patches are WW2 period. Jacket is not dated but is size marked 42R and is in overall excellent condition!
