WW2 European Theater Occupation Ike Jacket-U.S. Officer Judge Advocate/Berlin District

Nice German Bullion embroidered Berlin District patch on left shoulder. Pin back Major rank insignia. U.S. and Judge Advocate officer's lapel insignia. Theater embroidere...mored ribbon bars are sewn directly to the jacket. This officer was a veteran of the ETO with 2 battle stars as pictured. This officer stayed during the occupation and was most likely involved in some capacity with the War Crime trials in that theater. The jacket is dated 1951 and is a larger 42L size. Nice example!

Arthur “Art” Erwin Hirsch of Chicago Illinois. Enlistment from 5-4-43 to 10-16-45. Trained as a Radar Operator and assigned to USS Mount Olympus. Mount Olympus was wit...moreh the Third Amphibious Force and served as the floating headquarters for the huge U.S. Army invasion force of the Philippines. The landing force was subjected to continual air attacks, but its survival was assured by the American naval victory in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, which destroyed the Japanese Navy as an effective combat force. At the close of hostilities in August 1945, Mount Olympus arrived at Tokyo Bay on September 2 with part of the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division. After months of moving occupation troops from the Philippines and other bases to ports in Japan and China, she left Shanghai on May 28, 1946, bound for San Diego, the Panama Canal, and New York Harbor, arriving on July 7, 1946. .....Grouping includes--Typed daily diary and draft of his travels with the USN. He describes attacks from Japanese kamikaze pilots, swimmers, submarine torpedoes and a collision with an oil tanker in which his bunking area was damaged. The reimbursement form for the loss of his personal items from the collision. Ribbon bar with battle stars, USN ID, dog tag and 1944 dated rank insignia. Numerous letters to and from home. Black American soldiers serving in Company K...more were mustered from the Tennessee National Guard. The 372nd was assigned to the 93rd (Colored) Infantry Division. It fought with the 157th Division of the French Army sustaining heavy casualties. The tunic is in very fine condition showing only light soiling.
