U.S. Model 1851 Percussion Cadet Musket, .57 cal., 40'' barrel fastened with three bands, finished in the white, full-length walnut stock, with ramrod. Small 1847 type musketoon lock is marked with ''(eagle)/U.S.'', and ''Spring/field/1858'' to rear portion of lock. Considered somewhat scarce with just over 2800 produced in this configuration. Condition is about fine with light toning to metal surfaces. Barrel has been cut for rear sight which is not present. Lock and hammer have silvered and toned. Hall-North Model 1843 Breechloading Percussion Carbine, NVSN, .52 cal. smoothbore, 21'' barrel, iron mountings, brown lacquer finish, case hardened breech, ''WAT'' inspector's cartouche to right side of smooth walnut stock; left side cartouched ''GWH''. Breechblock marked ''US/S North/Midl'tn/Conn./1847''. Both the 1st and 2nd U.S. Dragoons used this type carbine during the Mexican War, as did many Cavalry regiments. Condition is excellent, as found, with dried grease and minor soilage from storage. Lever shows minor discoloration, which appears to be easily cleanable. Stock with light scuffs and dings. Greene (British Type) Percussion Carbine, by Mass. Arms, #229, .54 cal., 18'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, crown-''VR'' to lockplate, fitted for Maynard tape-primer device, with walnut stock and patchbox. Approx. 2000 arms were made under contract for the British government in 1855 for use in the Crimean War. It is believed that many Greene's were re-purchased by the U.S. during the Civil War. These are considered quite scarce and desirable. Condition is very good. Barrel retains approx. 85% of its original blue with pitting to left side from poor storage. Barrel appears to have been made from old U.S. barrel showing ''V/P/(eaglehead)'' proof, as is correct for this model. With small sling swivels to front barrel band and triggerguard. Condition is very good with moderate general patination to metal surfaces. Wood with light scuffs and impressions; minor fractures to stock from shrinkage. Rifle shows its military origin with plugged sling swivel to bottom edge of stock, saddlering bar has been neatly removed, but post-war alterations include barrel, buckhorn rear and German silver front sights, oversized forend, with pewter forend cap and hickory wiping rod. Condition is very good to fine with approx. 85% thinning and moderately toning blue to barrel.
