Remington Beals Navy Revolver, With Inscribed Triggerguard 

Lot # 254 (Sale Order: 251 of 698)      

.36 caliber, 7.5" octagonal barrel, S/N 4101. With Beals/Remington address marked on top flat. The trigger guard is inscribed in cursive C.V.J. N.Y. Blue finish, with walnut grips. 

Condition: The barrel has most of its original blue finish remaining, with areas of spotting. The frame and cylinder have a mottled grey and plum patina, with light traces of blue remaining in protected areas. The brass trigger guard has a mustard patina. The grips have some nicks and dings with a very minuscule chip to the bottom left corner. The bore is in very good condition.

Savage Revolving Firearms Co. Navy Revolver 

Lot # 255 (Sale Order: 252 of 698)      

.36 caliber, 7 1/8" octagonal barrel, S/N 686 and 1412. With Savage address marked on frame strap. Blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and trigger. Walnut grips with inspector's cartouche. 

Condition: The barrel has some blue finish remaining in streaks, fading to grey. Traces of blue remain on the frame in protected areas. The hammer, lever and trigger have light traces of case coloring remaining. The grips have some nicks and dings, but are in good overall condition. The bore could use a cleaning, but is in good overall condition.

Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver  

Lot # 256 (Sale Order: 253 of 698)      

.44 caliber, 8" round barrel length, S/N <i>35166</i>, single line Colt New York address on top of the barrel.  Left side of frame marked "<i>Colts Patent.<?i>"  Trigger guard marked "<i>.44 CAL</i>."  Six-shot rebated cylinder with Naval battle scene.  Case color frame, lever and hammer with blue barrel.  Brass trigger guard with one-piece varnished walnut grips.  Cut for shoulder stock. <br><br>Condition: The barrel has some wear at the muzzle but retains a strong amount of finish blending to a patina.  The frame, lever and hammer have traces of case color blending to an overall patina. The trigger guard has a pleasing yellow patina.  The grips are good with nicks and dings consistent with age and use.  The markings are sharp and the cylinder scene is visible but fading.  The bore is good.  Mechanically very good.<br><br>EST $ 1500 - 2500...more

Allen & Wheelock Center Hammer Lipfire Army Revolver, Second Model 

Lot # 257 (Sale Order: 254 of 698)      

.44 lipfire caliber, 7.5" round-to-octagonal barrel, S/N 80. Left of barrel flat marked Allen & Wheelock, Worcester, Mass. U.S./Allen's Pat's Sep. 7, Nov. 9, 1858. Blue finish, with narrow walnut grips. 

Condition: The finish is mostly cleaned from the entirety of the revolver to a gunmetal patina. Some traces of blue remain in the protected areas. The grips and bore are in very good condition.

Model 1849 Colt Pocket Percussion Revolver with Factory Ivory Grips ID'd to Capt. John P. Ellis

Lot # 258 (Sale Order: 255 of 698)      

.31 caliber, 4" octagonal barrel with two-line Hartford, CT address, S/N 205965 I .  "I" stands for Ivory grips. Six-shot. All matching. Stagecoach hold up scene engraved on the cylinder, action indexes crisply.  Brass backstrap and trigger guard. Complete with factory ivory grips.

This pistol is known to have belonged to Capt. John P. Ellis, a pre-Civil War New York militia officer.  His presentation sword and archive, and a percussion target rifle by Lewis are offered separately in this auction.  

Condition: Good. Bore with light oxidation and strong rifling. Even age gray finish, light traces of case colors on the frame and hammer, traces of silver finish on the grip frame. Grips have minor age yellowing and a few cracks on the bottom.

Colt Third Model Dragoon Revolver 

Lot # 259 (Sale Order: 256 of 698)      

.44 caliber, 8" octagonal-to-round barrel, S/N 18770.  New York barrel address, Colt Patent on the left side of frame in two lines.  Brass backstrap and trigger guard.  Walnut grips.  All numbers match. 

Condition: All metal is grey with some pitting.  Brass backstrap and trigger guard have been cleaned, now showing some ageing.  Grips are replacement.  No cylinder scene.  Cylinder with some pitting.  Bore is good.  Action works but is a little loose.  Rare barrel length.

.44 caliber, 7.5" octagonal barrel, S/N 1224. Matching numbers throughout. Top strap of cylinder marked Rogers & Spencer Utica, NY. Walnut grips with RPB inspector's cartouche. 

Condition: Most of the blue finish is present throughout, with small areas of wear along the top right of the barrel, and on small areas of the cylinder and frame. The grips have small dings, with a minuscule chip to the underside of the right. The bore is in excellent condition.

.44 caliber, 8" octagonal barrel, S/N 81928, marked on top of barrel with Remington address and "New Model". Blue finish with brass trigger guard and walnut grips. 

Condition: Metal surfaces retaining most of the original bright blue finish.  Some flaking on the front part of the left side frame.  Cylinder has some flaking.  Grips with the nice untouched feather looking wood.  Mint cartouches.  This is a very fine Remington Army Revolver.

Starr Arms Co. Single Action 1863 Army Revolver 

Lot # 262 (Sale Order: 259 of 698)      

.44 caliber, 8" round barrel, S/N 24369. Matching serial numbers. Marked with a C on the barrel, cylinder and parts of the frame. Left side of frame marked Starr Arms Co. New York, with the right side marked Starr's Patent Jan. 15, 1856. Nickel finish with walnut grips, stamped TA on the underside. 

Condition: The nickel finish is present throughout almost all of the revolver, with very slight flaking on certain areas, mostly the cylinder. The grip has some dings to it, but is in good overall condition. The bore is in very good condition.

.44 caliber, 8" octagonal barrel, S/N 46844. Subinspector's initials on all of the parts. Blued finish with walnut grips. 

Condition: This revolver retains most of the bright original blue with some flaking.  Trigger with bright blue finish. Hammer retains most of the darkened case colors.  Grips are mint with a mint cartouche.

.44 caliber, 8" octagonal barrel, S/N 1865. Top flat of barrel marked B.F. Joslyn Patd. May 4, 1858. Checkered walnut grips with flat iron buttcap. 

Condition: The barrel, frame and cylinder have a gunmetal to brown patina, with traces of blue finish in the protected areas of the frame and loading lever. The left grip has a small chip to the walnut where it meets the frame. The gripstraps have an old repair. The bore is in very good condition.

Savage & North Second Model Figure 8 Navy Model Revolver 

Lot # 265 (Sale Order: 262 of 698)      

.36 caliber, 7.25" octagonal barrel length, S/N  243, markings on top of the frame "E. Savage Middelton, Ct." over the patent dates.  Six-shot cylinder.  Round iron frame with creeping style ramming lever. Walnut grips. 

Condition: The metal surfaces all have a silvery gray patina blending with some areas of black staining on the barrel, frame and cylinder.  Very fine salt and pepper pitting on the barrel and frame. The grips are good with minor nicks and dings.  The bore is pitted throughout.  Mechanically good.

.54 caliber, 8.5" round barrel. U.S. over WN over P in three lines near the breech on the left side.  Swivel ramrod with brass furniture.   Walnut stock. 

Condition: Barrel and lock have dark untouched patina. Brass with untouched patina. Stock is excellent with open-grained look, untouched patina.  Two mint cartouches with ding in the middle of the WAT cartouche. This pistol has a great look and you can feel the feathering in the wood.

.44 caliber, 8" barrel, S/N 9295. Top flat of barrel marked with two-line Remington address. Left of barrel and frame marked PS. Blue finish, with case hardened hammer and brass triggerguard. Left side of walnut grip with inspector's cartouche. Underside of grips with dot punched initials. 

Condition: The bore is in good condition and could clean to better. The barrel, frame and lever have a mottled grey patina with some areas of brown spots. The cylinder has a faded blue patina. The grips have one or two slight dings, and are in very good condition.

Condition: The barrel has some traces of blue remaining, but mostly has a darker grey patina, as do the frame and cylinder. The scene on the cylinder is crisp and present. The grips show light handling marks, but are in good to very good overall condition. The bore is in good condition.

Condition: The bore is in good condition, and could clean to better. There are small areas of pitting on the exterior of the barrel and cylinder. The barrel, loading lever and frame have a plum patina with some traces of blue in protected areas. The grips have some small dings to the underside, but are in very good overall condition.

.36 caliber, 4.5" barrel, S/N 2039. With matching numbers throughout. Barrel does not have any markings. With fluted cylinder. Backstrap and trigger guard in silver-plated brass. Walnut grips; with right grip stamped C.W. 

Condition: The blue finish remains in traces on the barrel and cylinder, with the rest having a faded blue and mottled gunmetal patina. Some plating remains on the backstrap and triggerguard, fading to brass showing through. The grips have some wear typical from use, but are in good overall condition. The bore is in very good condition.

U.S. Springfield Model 1855 Pistol 

Lot # 274 (Sale Order: 271 of 698)      

.62 caliber reamed out from the original .58 caliber, 12" round barrel octagonal at the breech with proof marks. Rifling removed from the bore; lock with Maynard tape device marked with an eagle and "U.S. SPRINGFIELD." Action functions properly.  Walnut stock has brass furniture and an iron backstrap cut for the removable shoulder stock. Pommel retains the lanyard ring.  The swivel ramrod is a contemporary replacement. 

Condition: Good. Bore dark. Barrel has gray age spotting. Lock in dark finish.

C.S. Pettengill Army Model Revolver 

Lot # 275 (Sale Order: 272 of 698)      

.44 caliber, 7.5" round barrel, S/N 2955 (9 could be a 0, it is partially obscured). Marked on the top frame strap Pettengill's Patent 1856  and Raymond & Robitaille Patented 1858. Marked WP on the frame and in an inspector's cartouche on the grips. 

Condition: Some of the original blue finish remains on the barrel, with areas of streaking and fading to a mottled grey patina. The frame has a mostly grey patina, with very light traces of case coloring remaining. The grips are in good condition. The cylinder needs a spring replaced to properly rotate. The bore is in good condition and could use a cleaning.

Colt Pocket Model of 1862 Police Revolver 

Lot # 276 (Sale Order: 273 of 698)      

.36 caliber, 6.5" round barrel length, S/N 27832, single-line Colt New York address on top of the barrel.  Left side of frame marked "Colts Patent."  Left side of trigger guard marked "36 Cal."  Case color frame, lever and hammer.  Brass back strap and trigger guard.  The remaining is blue with one-piece walnut grips. 

Condition: The frame, hammer and lever have traces of case color blending to a patina with very fine salt and pepper pitting.  The barrel retains some of the blue finish blending to a plum patina.  The brass has a nice untouched patina.  The grips are very good with minimal wear consistent with age.  Bore does have some salt and pepper pitting throughout.  Cylinder is not indexing properly.

Condition: The revolver has a gunmetal patina with some darker areas throughout. The brass on the triggerguard is lightly visible. The grips are in very good condition with only slight handling marks. The bore is in very good condition.

Tower Flintlock Pistol 

Lot # 278 (Sale Order: 275 of 698)      

.650 bore diameter smoothbore, 9" round barrel. English proofs near the breech. Lockplate marked Tower, Crown and GR under the pan. Swivel ramrod.  Walnut stock with a beaver tail behind the tang.  Brass furniture. 

Condition: Pistol is excellent with nice grey to brown patina.  Sharp lines and crisp markings.  Stock is excellent with a small crack on the right side above the frizzen spring.
