Colt Model 1861 Navy Revolver 

Lot # 279 (Sale Order: 276 of 698)      

.36 caliber, 7.5" barrel, S/N 2201. With matching serial numbers on all parts with the exception of the triggerguard (S/N 111945). Blue finish, with casehardened frame, hammer and lever. Brass triggerguard and backstrap, with varnished walnut grip. 

Condition: The bore is in good condition and could clean to better. The barrel and cylinder have a mottled grey and blue patina, with areas of spotting. The roll scene on the cylinder is present. The frame and lever have light case colors remaining, with a mostly mottled grey patina. The brass has some staining. The grip has some wear to the varnish on the lower left side.

Mass. Arms Co. Wesson & Leavitt Belt Revolver 

Lot # 280 (Sale Order: 277 of 698)      

.31 caliber, 5" barrel, S/N 134. Top strap marked Mass. Arms Co. Chicopee Falls. The lock is marked Wesson's & Leavitt's Patent. With scroll engraved hammer and frame. Blue finish, with case hardened frame and walnut grips. 

Condition: The barrel and frame have  a grey and silver mottled patina. The frame has a darker gunmetal patina. The grips have some slight handling marks but are in good overall condition. Some finish remains on the backstrap and triggerguard. The cylinder does not rotate properly. The bore is in good condition and could use a cleaning.

Moore Teat Fire Revolver in Original Pipe Leather Casing 

Lot # 281 (Sale Order: 278 of 698)      

.32 teat fire caliber, 3.25" round barrel, S/N 5092. Engraved brass frame with walnut grips.  Leather pipe casing form-fitting to the revolver, black leather covered with maroon lining. 

Condition: Revolver is sharp and crisp overall.  Barrel and cylinder no finish with crisp markings.  Frame retains some of the silver-plated finish.  Grips have some scuffs to the high edges.  Leather casing has some scuffs.  Lining has slightly faded but excellent overall.

Ballard Carbine by Ball & Williams 

Lot # 282 (Sale Order: 279 of 698)      

.44 rimfire caliber, 22.125" round-to-octagonal barrel, S/N 9814. Left side of frame marked Ball & Williams Worcester Mass and Merwin & Bray Agt's New York. The right side is marked Ballard's Patent Nov. 5, 1861. Walnut stock and forearm with buttplate marked MM. The frame and breechblock are also marked MM. The stock has an oval MM inspector's cartouche, and the top is also stamped MM. 

Condition: The barrel has an even dull bluish grey patina. The frame displays some blue finish in protected areas, but has a mostly plum patina, fading to a grey in parts. The stock has one or two nicks and dings and is in very good condition, with clear markings. The bore is in very good condition.

Civil War Jenks Carbine

.54 caliber, 24.25" barrel. Top flat of barrel marked W Jenks and U.S.N./RC/P/1845. The lock is marked N.P. Ames Springfield Mass and W.M. Jenks. Walnut stock with brass barrel bands, triggerguard with ring and buttplate. Stock with JC and RL inspector's cartouches. With oval loading aperture and rifled bore. 

Condition: The barrel has an even flat brown patina with a few minor scuffs. The lock and loading lever display strong case colors. All of the brass is bright. The stock has one or two nicks and dings but is in very good overall condition. The bore is in very good condition.

Greene British Type Carbine 

Lot # 284 (Sale Order: 281 of 698)      

.54 caliber, 18" barrel, S/N 61. Lockplate marked with a crown over VR and Mass Arms Co. Chicopee Falls U.S.A. 1856. The upper tang is marked Greene's Patent June 27 1854. The barrel is marked with an S and two broad arrows facing each other. The barrel, breech, trigger guard, patchbox, buttplate and stock are marked with British proofs. The left side of the stock is stamped with a U.S., while the right side is marked 1 over B over 10 over RDMR

Condition: The barrel and breech have some slight scuffs, however almost all of the original blue finish remains. The patchbox and buttplate have a dark gunmetal finish to the iron. The stock has some slight nicks and dings, but is in good overall condition. The bore is in very good to excellent condition.

S.C. Robinson Confederate Sharps Type Carbine, Second Type 

Lot # 285 (Sale Order: 282 of 698)      

.52 caliber, 21" barrel, S/N 5416. Marked Richmond, VA at the top of the breech of the barrel, with the serial number marked at the rear of the lockplate and on the upper tang. Without saddle bar or sling swivel. With brass buttplate. 

Condition: The barrel, breech, hammer and lockplate all have a mottled grey patina with traces of blue throughout. The stock has nicks and dings throughout, with small age cracks near the fore end of the forearm. The nipple has a slight chip to it. The action is smooth. The bore is in good condition and could use a cleaning.

Gallager Civil War Carbine

.50 caliber, 22" barrel, S/N 13970. The lock is marked Manufact'd By Richardson & Overman Philada and Gallager's Patent July 17th 1860. Walnut stock with saddle bar and ring and patchbox. 

Condition: The barrel has small areas with original blue finish remaining, but mostly has a mottled grey and plum patina with peppering. The frame, hammer and lock have over 60% case coloring remaining, with areas of wear and fading. The stock has some nicks and dings but is in good overall condition. The bore is in very good to excellent condition.

Gwyn & Campbell Type II Carbine 

Lot # 287 (Sale Order: 284 of 698)      

.52 caliber, 20" round-to-octagonal barrel, S/N 3009. Lockplate marked Gwyn & Campbell Patent 1862 Hamilton O. The frame is marked Union Rifle. With 600-yard rear adjustable sight. Walnut stock with WHR inspector's cartouche, and with initials stamped near upper tang of buttplate. 

Condition: The blue finish on the barrel has some small areas of streaking and fading, but is otherwise in very good condition and is almost entirely present. The frame, breech, hammer, lock and lever all have almost all of their original case coloring. With areas of spotting to the tang and a small portion of the lock. The stock is in near excellent condition, with only one or two minor nicks. The bore is in very good to excellent condition.

Greene Breech-Loading Rifle

.53 caliber, 35" barrel. Upper tang marked Greene's Patent Nov. 17 1857. Blue finish, walnut stock with trumpet cleaning rod and cleaning brush present in buttplate compartment. 

Condition: The barrel and breech have almost all of their original blue finish. The under-hammer has almost all of its case coloring remaining. The stock has some slight handling marks but is in very good overall condition. The bore is in very good to excellent overall condition.

Orison Blunt-Enfield Rifle Musket

.58 caliber, 40" barrel. Proof stamp markings on barrel. Lock marked with eagle and shield, dated 1863 and with double line engravings. With brass trigger guard and buttplate. Walnut stock with slotted ramrod. 

Condition: The barrel has a dark brownish plum patina, with peppering around the breech. The lock has a dark greyish silver patina. The swivel sling is missing from the trigger guard. The stock has some slight dings but is in good condition. The bore is in very good condition.

Model 1816 Harper's Ferry Flintlock Musket With Bayonet 

Lot # 290 (Sale Order: 287 of 698)      

.69 caliber, 42" barrel. Barrel marked with a large VP and eagles head, and on the top A over lower case a over 37. The tang is dated 1819. The lock is marked with an eagle motif over U.S. and at the rear Harper's Ferry 1819. Walnut stock with three barrel bands, a trumpet head ramrod and U.S. marked buttplate. There is a remnant of an inspector's cartouche visible opposite the lock. Includes a socket bayonet marked IR with three dots. 

Condition: The barrel has an even dark brown patina throughout. The lock and hammer have a mottled grey patina. The stock has a chip above the hammer and has a slight age crack and light chips near the toe of the the butt. The bayonet has some light pitting. The bore could use a cleaning.

U.S. Model 1863 Lindsay Double Rifle Musket

.58 caliber, 41" barrel. Top of breech marked Lindsay Patent'd Oct. 9 1860. Walnut stock with three barrel bands, tulip head ramrod and U.S. marked buttplate. With two ADK inspector cartouches opposite of the lock. Butt stamped K on top flat. 

Condition: Are metal parts are finished bright and shiny. The barrel has some brown streaks in areas. There is some very light peppering on and around the hammers. The stock has a crack extending from the triggerguard towards the rear of the upper tang. The bore is in excellent condition.

S.C. Robinson Confederate Sharps Type Carbine 

Lot # 292 (Sale Order: 289 of 698)      

.52 caliber, 21" round barrel, S/N 1909. With matching serial numbers on the upper tang and lock. The lock is marked S.C. Robinson Arms Manufactory Richmond VA 1862. With V-notched rear sight and tapered iron front sight. Saddle bar and ring on the left side of the stock. Walnut stock and forearm, with brass curved profile buttplate and brass barrel band. 

Condition: The barrel, frame, lever, hammer and lock all have an even gray patina, with even pitting throughout the metal. The barrel markings are not visible. The stock and forearm have several nicks and dings throughout. The sling swivel is broken on the underside of the butt. The bore is in good condition and could clean to very good. The mechanics function properly.

Condition: The barrel has a bright silver patina. The breech has a dark patina to it, with some traces of case coloring remaining. The stock has some filled in cracks, and a repair at the end of the breech. The bore is in very good condition.

Condition: The barrel, lock and hammer have a bright and shiny finish with some light stains. The stock has several nicks and dings throughout. The bayonet is in very good condition. The bore is in good condition and could use a cleaning.

.46 rimfire caliber, 20" barrel, S/N 2587. With matching numbers throughout. Tang marked Remington's Ilion N.Y. Pat. Dec. 23, 1863 May 3 & Nov. 16, 1864. Walnut stock marked with two inspector's cartouches, PB and CGC. Subinspector's markings of J and P marked on other parts. 

Condition: The barrel has a dark bluish/brown patina. The frame has some case coloring remaining, with some light peppering to the right side. The stock and forearm are excellent with crisp cartouches. The bore is in very good condition.

.52 rimfire caliber, 21" barrel, S/N 33858m. Barrel and lock both marked Starr Arms Co. Yonkers N.Y. The rear of the breech is marked Starr's Patent Sept. 14th 1858. The barrel is stamped S.T.B. Walnut stock with two inspector's cartouches. 

Condition: The barrel has a silver patina, with brown streaks and stains throughout. The lock has an even grey patina, with he frame having a bright patina with flecks and stains. The stock and forearm have some slight nicks and dings, with very small remnants of tape on the top rear of the butt. The bore is in very good condition.

Springfield Model 1855 U.S. Rifled Carbine 

Lot # 298 (Sale Order: 295 of 698)      

.54 caliber, 22" round barrel with swivel ramrod. Barrel marked with a small VP over eagle head motif. The tang is marked 1855. The lockplate is marked with an eagle motif over U.S., and is marked Springfield 1855 at the rear. With two-leaf rear sight and blade front sight. The triggerguard has a large sling ring mounted at its rear. Three-quarter length walnut stock with brass fore end cap. The stock has a very faint remnant of an inspector's cartouche, opposite the lock plate. 

Condition: All metal parts have a bright and shiny patina, with light traces of spotting. The stock has an old repair to the wrist, extending from the rear of the lockplate and down to the front of the triggerguard. The bore is in very good condition.

Joslyn Model 1862 Carbine 

Lot # 299 (Sale Order: 296 of 698)      

.52 rimfire caliber, 22" barrel, S/N 2073. The lock plate reads Joslyn Fire Arms Co. Stonington Conn. The breech reads B.F. Joslyn's Patent October 8th 1861 June 24th 1862. With brass barrel band, trigger guard and buttstock. 

Condition: The barrel has a mottled gunmetal and plum patina. The lockplate has a mottled grey patina, with the saddle bar having a decent amount of case coloring remaining.  The stock has several handling marks, with a crack near the end of the breech on either side. The bore is in very good to excellent condition.

Triplett & Scott Repeating Carbine With 22 Inch Barrel 

Lot # 300 (Sale Order: 297 of 698)      

.50 rimfire caliber, 22" barrel, S/N 3406. Left side of the frame reads Meriden Man'fg Co. Meriden. Conn. The left side of the breech is marked Kentucky. The upper tang is marked Triplett & Scott Patent Dec 6 1864. Blue finish barrel, breech and magazine tube. Case hardened frame, trigger guard and buttplate. The left side of the stock is stamped Y over WB at the rear. An estimated 2,000 of these carbines were produced in the 22" barrel type. 

Condition: The barrel retains almost all of its original blue finish, with only a very small blemish near the barrel band. The frame, trigger guard and buttplate retain almost all of their case colors. The right side of the breech has some dings to the metal. The buttstock has an old period repair towards the rear of the upper tang. There is a very small hairline crack on the buttstock towards the rear of the lower tang. This was common because of the position of the magazine tube. The stock has some other handling marks, but it is in good to very good overall condition. The bore is in excellent condition.

.44 Evans centerfire caliber, 22" barrel, S/N 573. The barrel is marked Evans Repeating Rifle Mechanic Falls Me Pat Dec 8, 1868 & Sep 16, 1871. Walnut stock with lower section, and fore end. 

Condition: The barrel shows a majority of the original blue finish, with spotting throughout. The frame shows some blue, fading mostly to a plum. The stock has several nicks and dings consistent with use. The bore is in good condition and could clean to better.

Triplett & Scott Repeating Carbine with 22 Inch Barrel 

Lot # 302 (Sale Order: 299 of 698)      

.50 rimfire caliber, 22" barrel, S/N 4899. Left side of the frame reads Meriden Man'fg Co. Meriden. Conn. The left side of the breech is marked Kentucky. The upper tang is marked Triplett & Scott Patent Dec 6 1864. Blue finish barrel, breech and magazine tube. Case hardened frame, trigger guard and buttplate. The left side of the stock is stamped Y over WB at the rear. An estimated 2,000 of these carbines were produced in the 22" barrel type. 

Condition: The barrel has most of its blue finish remaining, with areas of spotting and fading. The breech has a dark plum patina. The frame and trigger guard have most of their original case coloring, with some stains towards the rear of the upper tang. The stock is in very good condition, with the exception of a small hairline crack extending from the end of the upper tang, and on the left side following the magazine tube. This was common because of the position of the magazine tube. The bore is in excellent condition.

Confederate P-1853 Enfield Rifle with Rare Anchor S Marking 

Lot # 303 (Sale Order: 300 of 698)      

.577 caliber, 39" round barrel, octagonal at the breech with English proof marks. Complete with adjustable rear sight. Lockplate marked with a queen's crown and "1863 TOWER." Action does not hold at half cock.  Three-band walnut stock with iron and brass furniture. Marked on the right side near the buttplate with the Birmingham Small Arms Trade stamp. Has an anchor "S" mark on top of the buttstock comb just ahead of the buttplate tang, and Confederate English viewers proof found on later war muskets (see Prichard, Huey et al, The English Connection, pg. 113). Soldier's initials "TA" carved on the right buttstock and "I.W." opposite the lock.  Complete with original ramrod. 

Condition: Good. Bore very good with strong rifling and just a few spots of light oxidation. Metal evenly aged darkened with moderate pitting around the nipple and breech; nipple cone flattened on top. Some wood lose around the lock mortise and behind the upper barrel band. Normal wear and scattered worm holes.
