English Four-Barrel Tap Action Flintlock Pistol by Brander & Potts 

Lot # 26 (Sale Order: 26 of 698)      

.30 caliber, 2" barrels. Safeties on the back of hammers.  Checkered walnut grips with engraved silver cap. Maker marked in a silver oval cartouche "Brander Potts, London". Engraved boxlocks and trigger guard. Barrels are British proofed. 

Condition: Very good with a very good bore. Mottled grey patina throughout.  The grips are good with minor nicks and dings.

Double-Hammer Six-Shot Percussion Pepperbox by Purdey of London 

Lot # 27 (Sale Order: 27 of 698)      

.31 caliber, 3.5" round barrels with ribs.  Marked on the rib Purdey London.  Safeties on both hammers.  Shield around the percussion nipples.  Brass sight beads on the ribs in between the barrels. Engraved frame, trigger guard; cap box in the butt.  Checkered walnut grip. 

Condition: This revolver is very sharp and crisp with nice untouched patina. Nice dark brown very crisp.  Grips are excellent.  Double-hammer pepperbox pistols are seldom seen and considered very rare.

Urwin & Rodgers Percussion Knife Pistol

.220 bore diameter, 3.5" German silver barrel. British proofs on the left flat of barrel near the breech. Horn handles. Two blades. With buttplate compartment marked 1 on the interior. 

Condition: Excellent overall.  Horn handles are excellent.  Blades have been cleaned with just traces of light staining.

Dumonthier Pinfire Knife Pistol 

Lot # 29 (Sale Order: 29 of 698)      

8mm caliber, 5.5" octagonal barrel with 9" Bowie-type blade beneath with etched panel on both sides of the blade, S/N 458. The blade is marked on the left side Dumonthier B.S.G.D.C. Vine engraved cylinder and frame. The cylinder has a Belgian Liege proof mark. Checkered walnut grips. 

Condition: All metal is grey to brown.  Nice lines with sharp and crisp engraving. Etched panels are visible on both sides of the blade. Grips are very good.

Cased Pair of Irish Flintlock Dueling Pistols by Pattison 

Lot # 30 (Sale Order: 30 of 698)      

.625" bore diameter, smooth bore, 9.25" octagonal barrels with patent breech. The top flat of the barrels are engraved Pattison, Dublin. Engraved locks marked Pattison. Engraved blued furniture, including fleur de lis engraved triggerguards with pineapple finials. Fancy walnut stocks with floral engraved buttcaps and horn tipped ramrods with two ferrules. In a green-lined mahogany case with partitions. Red leather-covered compartment flask. No molds or cleaning rods. 

Condition: Barrel and locks are grey with sharp lines.  Some staining and light pitting.  Stock with very sharp lines and no finish.  One of the stocks has an age crack on the left side opposite the lock. Case has no lining in the lid.  Overall very good set of pistols still retaining some of the blue on the iron parts.  Case is a later attempt.  Flask is excellent still retaining most of the red leather.

English Two Barrel Tap Action Flintlock Pistol By Jover 

Lot # 31 (Sale Order: 31 of 698)      

.40 caliber, 3.25" brass barrels. Boxlock marked Jover on the left side, and London on the right. The top barrel is marked 1 at the breech, with its corresponding number on the frame. The underside of the frame has two crown over V proof marks. The boxlock has a safety mechanism at the rear. The barrel selector has an engraved screw. The engraved iron triggerguard acts as the release for the folding bayonet. With slab walnut grip. The folding bayonet is marked D-1

Condition: Very good with very good bores. Grips show dents and dings from normal wear.

2.7mm caliber, 1.5" barrel, S/N 22186. "14" after the serial number is a proof mark. Finely checkered gutta percha grips. Blue finish.

**Mainville 18-Shot Flare Signal / Tear Gas Gun 

Lot # 34 (Sale Order: 34 of 698)      

25 mm, 9.75" round barrel length, S/N 792. Markings on top of frame "Mainville Mfg. Co." Stainless steel finish with black checkered grips with "M" logo marked at top. Single bead front sight. These guns were used as signals, crowd control and riot control. Common use for police departments and prisons. 

Condition: Condition is very good to excellent.

Austrian Flintlock Blunderbuss Pistol, Marked Valentin Holenburg 

Lot # 35 (Sale Order: 35 of 698)      

1" bore diameter, 9.25" octagonal-to-round barrel length. Top of barrel marked Valentin Holenburg.  Engraved top tang with sight.  Flat side lock with beveled edges.  Flat hammer and fancy frizzen with finial. Engraved brass buttplate with brass trigger guard, side lock and original horn tip ramrod.  Carved walnut stock. 

Condition: The barrel has sharp and crisp lines with a mottled gray patina. The hammer, lock and frizzen have a tarnished to gray patina. The brass furniture has an untouched yellowing patina. The stock is very good with sharp and crisp lines and minimal wear. Bore is dark.

Double-Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss Pistol By Brown, London 

Lot # 36 (Sale Order: 36 of 698)      

.84" bore diameter at muzzles, 7.8" octagonal-to-round barrels with folding bayonet on top of the barrels.  Circa 1800. The center flat of the barrels are marked Brown on one and London on the other, and each feature two proof marks on the side. The locks are each marked Brown, and feature engraved hammer screws and floral engravings at the rear. The steel tang has a release mechanism for the bayonet, and is engraved with floral motifs. The brass triggerguard features a floral engraving and a pineapple form finial. The walnut stock features two wedges, two brass ferrules and a horn tipped ramrod. 

Condition: Barrels with nice patina. Blade, locks and tang with even dark patina.  Stock is excellent with minimal nicks and dings.  Stock has dark patina. Overall excellent example of this rare double-barrel flint pistol.

Jarre 10-Shot Harmonica Pistol

7.65mm pinfire caliber, 4" barrel, S/N 208.  10” in length overall. Matching numbers on the barrel and harmonica magazine. The left side of the barrel is engraved Jarre, with the right side engraved a Paris. The right side also features the Jarre company oval stamp. Walnut grips, iron construction. 

Condition: All metal is a mottled grey to brown. All lines are nice and sharp. Grips are excellent. The mechanics are excellent.

Early European Flintlock Four-Shot Pistol by Locke

.40 caliber, four 4" barrels. Four-shot, early style pistol with safety on the lock. The lockplate is engraved Locke. Walnut stock with figural brass lion head club butt. 

Condition: Needs some fine tuning.  Action is a little sloppy. All metal has a dark brown patina with some pitting.  Stock has been varnished over.  Brass butt has untouched patina.  Rare configuration of a four-shot.

English Brass Frame Boxlock with Folding Bayonet Marked Canterbury Green 

Lot # 39 (Sale Order: 39 of 698)      

.670 bore diameter at muzzle, 3" brass round-to-octagonal barrel with ramrod and folding spring-loaded bayonet. Circa 1820. The underside of the barrel has two Birmingham proof marks, with the bayonet having a crown over DL proof. The left side of the box lock is engraved Green in a shield, with the right side engraved Canterbury. The box lock features an engraved safety. The iron triggerguard features an engraved shield, and slides back to act as the bayonet release. With walnut slab sided grips with a silver thumbprint. 

Provenance: Butterfield & Butterfield, 1993

Condition: Very good with a very good bore. Mellow patina on brass frame and barrel. Grips show carry use.

Flintlock Blunderbuss Pistol by John Richards, London 

Lot # 40 (Sale Order: 40 of 698)      

.82" bore diameter at muzzle, 9" brass cannon style barrel. Circa 1780. Marked on the top of the barrel Strand London, with two proof marks stamped on the left. Lockplate marked JW Richards. Iron breech and lock, with floral engravings at the rear and on the hammer. The steel tang has floral engravings. The brass triggerguard has a floral engraving and a acorn form finial. Horn tipped ramrod with two brass ferrules. 

Condition: Brass with nice untouched patina. Lock with nice sharp and crisp grey to brown patina.  Stock is excellent.

Silver-Mounted Spanish Miquelet Blunderbuss Pistol 

Lot # 41 (Sale Order: 41 of 698)      

1.15” bore diameter at muzzle; barrel length is 5.75” with an overall length of 10.8”. Circa 1750. The barrel features ornate gold and silver inlays throughout. There is an iron belt hook on the left side of the gun and the wood stock displays fully and finely pierced overlays of silver in multiple design work including fanciful faces and creatures. The ramrod is retained. 

Condition: This beautiful little blunderbuss is in overall fine condition with a crisp action, pleasing patina to all surfaces and is expertly constructed.

.36 caliber, 18.5" round barrel, rotating seven-shot barrel with brass pin front sights and a sighting ring 6" from the breech. Each barrel has rifling.  Lockplate marked John Golcher, Easton.  Brass furniture with curly maple stock.  Two-piece engraved patchbox. 

Condition: Barrel has a dark patina with some light pitting mixing in. Lockplate is grey to brown.  Brass with nice patina.  Stock is excellent with some nicks and dings.  Overall excellent and very rare piece of American gun making.

Austrian Flintlock Elliptical Bore Blunderbuss by N. Oesterlein 

Lot # 44 (Sale Order: 44 of 698)      

1.5" bore diameter, 23.75" octagonal-to-elliptical bore.  Marked on the top of the barrel N. Oesterlein.  Early style with heavy butt, carvings behind the tang and around the cheek piece.  Moldings along the bottom of the stock and ramrod channel. Brass furniture with brass sideplate. Early style lock with flat hammer and faceted pan, curved lockplate. 

Condition: Barrel and lock with an even look. Dark brown patina. Stock untouched with dark patina. Very small minute crack in the stock on the right side forward of the rear ferule. Overall a nice untouched blunderbuss.

Flintlock Blunderbuss Carbine by Perry, London 

Lot # 47 (Sale Order: 47 of 698)      

Bore diameter 1.125" round bore, 15.5" octagonal-to-round barrel with folding bayonet on the right side.  British barrel proofs on the left side at breech, patent breech, marked on top of the barrel Perry London.  Engraved lockplate and hammer with Perry on the rear of the lockplate. Engraved hammer has a notch in it for the  bayonet catch.  White brass furniture.  Engraved trigger guard with acorn finial.  Engraved butt plate.  Engraved thumb rest behind tang, engraved tang with sight groove. Engraved skeleton side plate and ferules. Highly figured walnut stock with raised carving behind tang of seashell with crossed sabers. 

Condition: Brass barrel has an untouched patina with sharp and crisp markings.  Lock and tang with sharp engraving a silvery grey blending to a light patina.  Stock retaining most of the original finish with darker patina in all of the protected areas. Carving is exquisite and very sharp and crisp. Highly unusual with the carved crossed sabers.

2.75" elliptical bore diameter, 15.75" octagonal-to-elliptical barrel. Hallmarks on top flat near the breech; engraved lock and tang. Safety on the back of lock just behind the hammer.  Deep relief engraved trigger guard and buttplate. Brass ferules and side plate. Walnut stock. 

Condition: Barrel is sharp and crisp, brown with some blue bleeding through. Lock is sharp and crisp. Brass is excellent. Stock with untouched look. Some nicks and dings.

1.25" bore diameter, 15.25" octagonal-to-round engraved iron barrel. Rounded lockplate with safety on the back of hammer. Lock marked Laurent Gilles.  Iron mounted with deep raised carved walnut stock. 

Condition: All metal has been cleaned to bright with sharp and crisp lines. Stock is excellent having been cleaned once.  Overall excellent.

1" bore diameter, 15.5" octagonal-to-round barrel with folding bayonet under the barrel.  Lockplate marked Ketland and the barrel marked London with British proofs near the breech. Patent breech. Brass furniture; carved beaver tail behind the tang; walnut stock. 

Condition: Brass barrel has been lightly polished. Lockplate with nice dark brown patina. Stock with some nicks and dings. Very nice early gun.
