Span-Am War Commemorative Candy Containers (7) milk glass candy dishes. The sinking of the USS Maine in 1898 and the Spanish-American War that followed created a surge of...more patriotism in America. Many commemorative items were produced for the war with one of the more popular being covered dishes like these. In this lot, there are three dishes with Commodore Dewey, a US naval commander during the Spanish-American War that decisively destroyed the Spanish Pacific Fleet, two dishes with eagles watching over "The American Hen, Puerto Rica, Cuba, & Philippines", one cruiser with Uncle Sam, and one US cruiser. All pieces are in very good condition with some minor chipping and discoloration. A very nice grouping. See photos.

Many commemorative items were produced for the w...morear with one of the more popular being covered dishes like these. In this lot, there are eight US cruisers with the words "Remember the Maine" displayed on both sides with four orange, two blue, one red, and one green. Dishes are in good condition with some of the cruisers having minor cracks and chips. One of the blue ships has a broken piece that is still present but detached. A very neat grouping. See photos.

Not only is the USS Maine featured here as there is also the USS Olympia and a USS Oregon. In this lot, there are two USS Maine dishes, two USS Olympia dishes, and three USS Oregon dishes. All seven ships are in very good condition with the intricate detailing intact and only minor chips on the edges of some dishes. One of the USS Oregon still has the original paper label, though it is tattered and missing some pieces. A very nice grouping. See photos.
