Description

Day 2 features a diverse array of collectibles, sure to excite enthusiasts and collectors alike. Highlights include a wide selection of Coin-Operated Machines, from classic slot machines to vintage vending units. For music lovers, we have a variety of Musical Instruments, including carousel components and music boxes. The auction also offers unique Advertising pieces, such as vintage dispensers and gas pumps, and a small selection of motorcycles. A heavily jeweled outside row stander with most of the jewels missing. The paint has been stripped from the wood. The parrot head on the carved seat is intact. Glass eyes, no tail. Right ear damaged. The wood is in good condition with no signs of rot. A good candidate for restoration. No stirrups or stand. Measures 60" long, 60" tall. From the Fred Schurecht collection.

This carving dates to the 1900-1915 period and was most likely done by Charles Carmel for Looff. In overall very good condition with an older restoration. The original glass eyes are intact, no obvious chips or repairs save for 2 strap iron braces on the back of the tail near the floor. Batwing seat. This may be the finest example of this figure in existence. Measures an impressive 70"tall and 78"long.

This magnificent Orchestrion in its quarter sawn oak "art case" has its original finish and decal with the usual scrapes and abrasions as well as some minor damage mainly at the bottom (at the toes). There are 2 small wooden trim pieces missing from the cabinet doors, one from the top and one from the bottom, as well as 3 small mitered corners on 2 of the stained glass cabinet doors. It is also missing the upper access panel at the rear of the piano. Cabinet with its beautiful art glass features the classic 3 dimensional torch design as well as 2 panels with bucolic scenes. All four of these panels have some form of minor damage here and there, cracks here and there, and the most significant of which is a small piece of glass missing from one of the center panels. See photos for further detail. Has its original key tops which are lightly stained with a few chips here and there but in otherwise good condition. See photos. This Orchestrion has evidence of an older restoration and is in playing condition. Has its original coin mech and it takes a 5 cent coin. The instrumentation of this Orchestrion features the following - piano, mandolin, flute pipes, violin pipes, bass drum with tympani effect, snare drum, cymbal, and triangle. It also has its original motor, pump and roll frame all of which are in good condition with evidence of an older restoration. Also included are 11 G rolls, nine of which are re-cuts and 2 originals. Cabinet measures 6'-7-1/2" H X 5'-10-1/2" W X 2'-4-1/2" D. This Orchestrion would be a prime addition to any collection. Weighs approximately 1200 pounds. See video at https://youtu.be/AJyAxZZoEd8

The Carleton Canoe Co. of Old Town Maine was one of the oldest canoe manufacturers in North America starting in the 1870's. They pioneered canvas covered canoes in the 1880's. They were acquired by Old Town Canoe Co. in 1910. This handcrafted display sample is among the rarest of canoe display samples. Roger Young of Antique Model Canoes wrote that Carleton probably produced only 20 samples for their dealers. This one has been in a collection for over 50 years. It is in overall VG condition retaining all original paint on the canvas, company name decals on both sides, original interior varnish, and cane seats. It measures 42" long and 8.75" wide at the centerline. Don't miss this chance at an incredible vintage canoe sample.

The music on the A, B, and C disc sets is arranged for exceptional expression and repetition rates unmatched by any other disc music box, Two cranks and 6 - 3-disc sets are included for a total of 18 discs. Music restoration by Robin Biggins of Rancho Palos Verde, CA and case refinishing by Dave Avery of Chicago, Il. The machine measures 80" t X 27" W X 18" D. The music on the A, B, and C disc sets is arranged for exceptional expression and repetition rates unmatched by any other disc music box, Two cranks and 6 - 3-disc sets are included for a total of 18 discs. Music restoration by Robin Biggins of Rancho Palos Verde, CA and case refinishing by Dave Avery of Chicago, Il. The machine measures 80" t X 27" W X 18" D. Oak Mills Violano serial number 1797. Good restoration candidate. It has its original violin which is market Mills Novelty Company on the paper label inside the violin. There are no strings present, otherwise the violin appears to be in good condition. The tuning weights and arms are present but appear to be reproductions. Oak cabinet has original front bifold doors and beveled glass and hardware, One of the front columns is missing a capital - see photos. Has original coin mechanism. The coin box and front cover are older reproductions. The sounding board appears to be in good condition with no visible cracks. The cast iron harp is free of any cracks, the piano action appears to have been reconditioned as well as the piano having been re-strung some time ago. The oak cabinet appears to have been professionally refinished. There are several minor nicks and scrapes and some veneer damage on the edges of the top cover. The roll-frame motor/generator and governor are all present. The contact roller is also present, but detached. It appears to be missing one of the pin ends. This handsome piano in its quarter sawn oak cabinet has been completely refinished and restored some time ago and is in playing condition. The cabinet is in overall good condition with the exception of some minor damage on the right hand side of the bottom. See photos. Has its original locks and keys. The cabinet is nicely appointed with three stained glass panels with a few minor hairline cracks and matching companion stained glass lamps. One of the lamps will need a new socket. As mentioned before this piano has been completely restored and re strung, piano action completely rebuilt as well as the entire mechanism. Has its original complete coin mechanism. Has new key tops. Piano has a set of flute pipes which are mounted on the back side of the piano and are concealed with a fitted wooden cover. This cover is loose and will need to be reattached. Comes with one Peerless Elite roll which is on the piano. Piano measures 58" T X 64" W X 35" D. A handsome addition to any collection.
