Italian Military Pre-WWI M1891TS 6.5x52mm Carcano Bolt-Action Carbine -Antique-no FFL needed (KPC1)

Lot # 14 (Sale Order: 15 of 267)

A 1895-dated Torre Annunziata Italian Military Pre-WWI M1891TS Carcano 6.5x52mm Bolt-Action Carbine in fair to good condition. Matching - no import. Known as the Austro-H...moreungarian Captured and Reissued Italian Mannlicher Carcano Model 1891 Infantry Rifle “6.5mm M.91 Adaptiertes Italienisches Repetier-Gewehr”, it was after the Russian Mosin-Nagants, were the most captured weapons by the Austro-Hungarian forces during WW1. About 49,500 captured Carcanos were converted to use the easily available 6.5x54mm Mannlicher-Schoenauer cartridge. These were designated “6.5mm M.91 Adaptiertes Italienisches Repetier-Gewehr”. These weapons were stamped with the 'AZF' marking on the barrel. D uring 1916 the Austro-Hungarian Army captured so much Italian material, including ammunition, that further M-S conversions became unnecessary. Repaired, but unconverted Carcanos may also carry the 'AZF' stamp. The "E" receiver stamp indicates it might have been used by the Greeks as well. Unusual rifle for the Carcano Collector; in nice captured condition. Serial Number 16162. Good bore and strong riflings with some minor pitting.

Austro-Hungarian Mannlicher M1886 Infantry Rifle “Infanterie-Repetier-Gewehre M1886” Antique (WHS1)

Lot # 16 (Sale Order: 17 of 267)

An original 11x58mm “IIQ“ marked Model 1886 Infantry Rifle that was assembled from parts that were rejected for the smallest flaws by the Austro-Hungarian Military inspec...moretors. These rejected parts, stamped with 'IIQ' (2nd Quality), were still considered safely functional and hence assembled into functional rifles. Steyr marketed these rifles at a discount on the international weapon market with Chile and possibly others South American Countries purchasing them. Most of the original unaltered M1886 rifles available now are former Chilean purchased IIQ rifles, since Steyr converted 95% of the 11x58mm “Non-IIQ” rifles to 8x52mm for the Austro-Hungarian military during 1888 to 1892. Condition of this weapon is much better than the typical M1886 “IIQ” Rifle that is available for collectors today. Good bore and good riflings. Slight amount of rust on rifling. Serial Number 723II

E. African Italian Reissued Austro-Hungarian Mannlicher M1895 Straight-Pull Rifle - Antique (WHS1)

Lot # 18 (Sale Order: 19 of 267)

This “AOI” M1895 rifle was used by the Italians in WWII; who either captured it during WWI or received it in large quantities after WWI as war reparations. Many of thes...moree rifles were used by Italian Colonial Troops in East Africa, being marked with the large letters 'AOI' stamped on the stock. AOI was the abbreviation of “Africa Orientale Italiana”, or Italian East Africa, consisting of Ethiopia (1936-1941), Somalia (1907-1941) and Eritrea (1885-1941), colonies under Italian control. This weapon is in the original 8x50mm caliber, unlike other countries, since the Italians or their Colonies did not convert these rifles to a different caliber. Some of these rifles were used up to an additional 40 years by the Colonies in their battles to win their independence. (Ethiopia 1945, Somalia 1960, Eritrea 1990). British captured AOI marked rifles were sent to India, Palestine, or dispersed throughout other British controlled regions in Africa, as far as Rhodesia. Rated “Very Rare” by the noted “Manowar’s Hungarian Weapons & History/ Military Firearm Values” Internet Website. From the noted Warren “H” Shindle Mannlicher Collection. Good bore and good riflings. Slight amount of rust on rifling. Serial Number 7938R.
