Mercedes-Benz 250 S

Lot # 226 (Sale Order: 26 of 153)

Premièred at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1965, the initial model line-up of the W 108 consisted of the 250 S, 250 SE, and 300 SE, as well as a sole W 109, the 300 SEL. Engines for the new car were carried over from the previous generation, but enlarged and refined. The 250 S was the entry-level vehicle fitted with a 2496 cm³ Straight-six M108 engine, with two dual downdraft carburettors, delivering 130 bhp at 5400 rpm which accelerated the car to 62 mph in 13 seconds and gave a top speed of 113 mph. Approximately 130,000 of the 250 S/SE models were built during the first two years of the W 108/109's existence. This 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250 S saloon is in remarkable condition given its 50 years of age and although, largely original, has very little signs of its maturity. The tan interior is complete and in good condition as is the black coach work and chrome. This example has spent its recent years in France and dry stored. We are assure it is mechanically good; starts, runs and should be entirely reliable with the vendor having recently MoT'd the car for any new prospective buyers. Currently French registered, this car is offered with a NOVA certificate so registering the car for the UK will be as simple as applying for a new V5. With a good history file, this represents a very good original example of the ever popular early Mercedes-Benz saloon.?

Alfa Romeo 164 3.0 V6 24V

Lot # 227 (Sale Order: 27 of 153)

The Alfa Romeo 164's launch represented the beginning of the renaissance of its maker. It was a member of the Type Four project, which resulted in four cars from Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat and Saab, all sharing the same floorpan. Of all the Type Fours, the Pininfarina styled Alfa 164 was by far the prettiest. The glorious Busso three-Litre V6 was used in the 164 and meant that it possessed the most charismatic engine in the class. The sharp Pininfarina styling also helped to differentiate the Alfa Romeo from its cousins and the V6 could be ordered with a Veloce bodykit. This is a rare opportunity to purchase one of only five Alfa Romeo 164 3.0 V6 Super automatics currently registered in the UK. Presented in black with contrasting blue velour trim, the paint is still shining like it was back in 1996. This example has covered just 67,200 miles from new. 500 miles ago, the vendor had this Alfa Romeo fully serviced by a well known Alfa Romeo specialist. This service included a new cambelt, new front brake discs and pads and a centre exhaust. We are informed the car drives beautifully and sounds just as a V6 Alfa Romeo should. Offered for sale with a new MoT test certificate valid until June 2017, this is a great looking and very driveable Classic Alfa Romeo.

MG BGT

Lot # 228 (Sale Order: 28 of 153)

The MGB was first introduced in May 1962 as a direct replacement for the MGA. Performance was brisk with power supplied by a 1798cc, four-cylinder iron block engine set within a monocoque lightweight bodyshell with crumple zones incorporated. October 1965 saw the introduction of the GT and was based on the already popular roadster. Designed by Pinninfarina, the new GT sported a hatchback giving useful access to the rear luggage space and a rear bench seat that enabled the car to be called a 2+2. Although acceleration was slightly slower than the roadster, top speed was better by 5mph due to the increased aerodynamic efficiency. Offered in splendid condition with the original registration number, this green GT example with black interior, two owners from new, has covered just 55,000 miles. Within the history file is a good amount of documentation with plenty of bills to help any bidder understand the care of ownership. We are informed by the vendor she drives perfectly and is in super order having just had a complete service including new brake discs and brake pads, intercooler, fan blades and of course a change of oil. We are also informed that "as one would expect, there is literally nothing it needs" and it will carry an MoT test certificate valid until March 2017. A great example of a fabulous British sports car.

Austin-Healey Sprite Mk. I 'Frogeye'

Lot # 229 (Sale Order: 29 of 153)

We are pleased to present this rather interesting Austin Healey (Frogeye) Sprite Mk. I. According to the British Motoring Heritage Trust Certified Factory Record, this Sprite was manufactured as a righthand drive, UK, home-market car and was built on 10th May 1960 and dispatched to Prynn and Stevens Limited on 12th May 1960. Factory fitted equipment included front bumpers, toughened glass and a rev. counter. Today, 409 AXU, is presented in the original specification colours of Iris blue coachwork and blue trim, however, this Sprite has, in recent years, has undergone restoration works and upgrades that make it a very usable and fast.  A photographic record shows that the car was stripped down to a shell and a lightweight rear end and bonnet fitted. Mechanically, the engine was replaced with a rebuilt 1,275cc unit that included, roller rockers, steel pushrods and Swiftune billet camshaft amongst the usual items required. Fuel is supplied by a single point Jenvey fuel injection system with an Emerald Management System, mapped ignition and a tubular 4-2-1 Stainless exhaust system. Extra items of note are an alternator and negative earth conversion, an oil cooler, aluminium radiator, electric fuel pump, electric cut off, new battery, halogen headlights and relayed circuits. The engine is mated to a Type 9 five-speed gearbox and the front brakes have been converted to discs to accommodate the extra power. The coachwork presents very well and the engine is easily accessible via the front-hinged bonnet. A new laminated windscreen and side mirrors aides vision both forwards and rearwards. The interior boasts re-trimmed seats, new carpets, fire extinguisher and a Mota-Lita wood and alloy steering wheel; a spare wheel is also included. The weather equipment consists of side screens, a tonneau and a new soft top that will require fitting, but who would use it? On a recent test drive, this little Austin Healey surprised with its power, handling and stopping characteristics. In summary it is more than capable of handling modern traffic in all situations. A large history file accompanies 409 AXU and includes photographs, technical information, invoices, an old style green log book and a current UK V5 log book. We are also informed that this Sprite will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate. This pretty little Sprite offers so much in such a small package and seems, to us, to be offered with a more than reasonable and tempting estimate.

Morris 575 Pick-up

Lot # 230 (Sale Order: 30 of 153)

The Morris Marina has had a bad press over the years. Much of the criticism has been justified, but the vast majority of its 807,000 British customers got along with it just fine, liking the honest design and simple engineering. British Leyland had reserved the Austin brand for their avant-garde range of vehicles like the Allegro and Princess, its more straightforward models being earmarked for Morris badges. Codenamed ADO 28, the new car was to be aimed squarely at competition from the Ford Escort and Vauxhall Viva. Destined to use a new E-Series engine that never came to fruition, in the end it was fitted with the well proven A- and B-Series engines, in 1.3 or 1.8 capacities. Within 11 months of its 1971 introduction the badly overcrowded Cowley factory had built its 100,000th Marina, a nightshift having been employed to meet demand. Rarely out of the top-five UK best sellers and often vying for second place, it was replaced by the re-styled Ital which in turn was superseded by the all new front-wheel drive Montego. In 1980, this 575 Pickup was featured on the Morris stand at motor shows across the UK, It was used to drive sales of the Morris pickup and to show the new dashboard, door cards and seats; all of which were eventually changed for the production model post 1980. An award winning example, this delightful pickup is presented in near perfect blue coachwork with tan trim and as you would expect from a multiple show winner, is better than it ever was when rolling off the Cowley production line. Having covered 57,000 miles from new and offered with a comprehensive history file which includes old MoT test certificates, photos of the car on show, V5 Registration document and a current MoT test certificate; this is a Morris enthusiast's dream find. Offered at no reserve, this Morris 575 Pickup is well worth viewing.?

Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV 2000

Lot # 231 (Sale Order: 31 of 153)

The new Alfetta was released in 1972 with a mechanical layout which was reminiscent of the late 1930s and 1940s Alfetta 158 and 159 Grand Prix cars and still had the twin overhead cam engine of the earlier post-war Alfas. What linked them to the racing Alfettas was the shifting of the clutch and gearbox assembly to the rear of the car and the attachment of the gearbox to the differential. This transaxle assembly was located to the complex DeDion rear suspension that incorporated coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers. The progressive-rate front suspension used torsion bars in place of the familiar coil springs of the earlier Giulias and Giuliettas. The design gave a near 50/50 weight distribution throughout the car which resulted in the car having exceptional handling characteristics. This is a beautiful example of an early 1978 chrome bumper GTV 2000 Alfetta GTV and is presented in near unmarked silver coachwork with contrasting grey with purple velour interior. Originally registered in August 1978, this Alfetta has a fantastic documented history from new and, we are informed, has been maintained to the highest standard irrespective of cost. This particular vehicle, owned by the current vendor since 1990, has had a fully documented restoration by the legendary Mike Spenceley in 2011-2012 and then re-commissioned by Autodelta at huge expense, including brakes and suspension being largely renewed. This GTV is also boasting quite unique specifications which include: period Smith electric windows, air conditioning (but not a Strada) and rare Momo Alloy wheels. Offered with original sales brochures, original service book,  handbooks and a great and comprehensive history, this is perhaps one of the best GTV Alfetta's you will find and represents a chance to revive your 80's childhood memories and join a club of true Alfista's. ?

Fiat 130 Coupé (3.2 litre)

Lot # 232 (Sale Order: 32 of 153)

The Fiat 130 was the company's first attempt at a large car so to get so much of it right first time was a real achievement for its maker. The technologically-advanced 130 was a brilliant saloon disguised by low-key styling. It featured all-independent suspension, passive rear steering and four disc brakes. The twin-cam, V6 was initially offered in 2.8-litre form but was extended to 3.2-litres in 1971, just before the launch of the handsome coupé in 1972. It was that car which really captures the imagination today. With straight-edged styling from Pininfarina's Rolls-Royce Camargue/Lancia Gamma Coupé period, the 130 Coupé has a vast and intimidating presence. This beautiful Coupé is presented in beautiful metallic grey coachwork with contrasting red trim. A one owner from new example that has resided in Italy until very recently, this UK registered manual 130 styled by Pininfarina is every bit the Italian classic it should be. The vendor tells us that the engine and gearbox are performing as of a car half its age and drives really very well. Offered with the car is a good history file which should warrant the 107,000 kilometres (67,000 miles. With an MoT test certificate valid until March 2017, any bidder can be confident in this example,  a car in Fiat's history that can so easily be overlooked which was originally a commercial flop but now represents a brilliant classic. This example is keenly priced and is a must for any Italian enthusiast.?

Porsche 928 S4

Lot # 233 (Sale Order: 33 of 153)

The Porsche 928 was a front-engined sports-GT sold from 1978 to 1995 and was an immediate hit with demand in the UK far outstripping supply. Originally intended to replace the company's iconic 911, the 928 attempted to combine the power, poise, and handling of a sports car with the refinement, comfort, and equipment of a luxury saloon to create what some Porsche executives thought would be a vehicle with wider appeal than the compact, quirky and sometimes difficult 911. The 928 qualified as a 2+2, having two small seats in the rear which could be folded down to enlarge the luggage area and both the front and rear seats had sun visors for occupants. Porsche's design and development efforts paid off during the 1978 European Car of the Year competition where the 928 won ahead of the BMW 7-series and the Ford Granada. The body, styled by Wolfgang Möbius under guidance of Anatole Lapine, was mainly of galvanized steel but the doors, bonnet and boot were made of aluminium to save weight. Polyurethane elastic bumpers were integrated into the nose and tail and covered in body-coloured plastic; an unusual feature for the time that was intended as both a styling feature and to reduce drag. In 1980, the 928S was introduced with a larger 4.7 litre engine and wider wheels and tyres. The new engine produced an output of 320bhp and there were significant styling changes which gave the car a cleaner, sleeker look. Originally registered on 4th August 1989, this low mileage 928 S4 presents in very good condition having been extremely well cared for by its former keepers; the coachwork is in excellent order and the interior virtually unmarked. The 4957cc engine burst into life when requested and sounded delightful with no adverse noises or rattles, we did not drive the Porsche although we are advised by the vendor she drives extremely well. The car comes with all of the usual refinements you can expect from a 928 S4 including electric windows, electric seats, immobiliser, cruise control and air conditioning. Supplied with a V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificate and history folder; the marketplace has woken to the fact that a Porsche 928 S4 is a stylish, comfortable and reliable tourer. We recommend viewing this low mileage example, it will not disappoint.

Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG

Lot # 234 (Sale Order: 34 of 153)

The CL65 AMG represents a marriage between Satan, AMG and Jeremy Clarkson. It is a beautifully packaged and ridiculous collection of power, sumptuous comfort and noise, but to fully understand this motorcar, it is important to acquaint oneself with a fact or two. According to the UK Sales figures, just 35-40 CL65s were officially sold in Great Britain between 2004 and 2005 and in fact only 777 were produced worldwide, with pre-existing customers invited to purchase. It houses the same engine as the Maybach 57 and 62 'S' models, until you also learn that it is the same layout as fitted to the current Pagani Huayra supercar and that is very shouty indeed. There is 1,000nm of torque produced from the engine, detuned from 1,200nm in order to protect the gearbox. It pushes out 603bhp and costs, in Germany, €204,000 or £142,453.20 in this country, to be precise. The last example of this car we offered last year was heavily oversubscribed and so we are delighted to be able to present this very clean example. With six former keepers and full Mercedes-Benz service history (bar one), interested parties will be comforted to know that the active body control (ABC) pump was replaced at 42,000 miles and the car was last serviced in August, 2015. Due to this being an early launch model, it does not carry the 'AMG V12 Bi-Turbo' inscription on the instrument panel and the seating is finished in smooth leather and not the more standard perforated material. The cappings and trim are 'piano black' and it is always stored under cover. Described as virtually perfect in all respects by its fastidious owner, this offers epic performance, discretely packaged.

Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Bi-Turbo (V12)

Lot # 235 (Sale Order: 35 of 153)

In July 1998, the W220 was introduced and, as with each new S-Class, it brought in innovations such as Airmatic air suspension and Active Ventilated Seats (which used miniature fans in the seats to move air through perforations). A navigation system with centre console-mounted screen display was introduced along with the COMAND input control system. Other options included keyless entry and ignition, a radar-controlled Distronic cruise control system and a cylinder shut-off system called Active Cylinder Control. The S65 AMG was introduced in 2003 and went on sale in 2004 as a 2005 model. Powered by a 6.0 L 612bhp, V12 twin turbo engine, the S65 was the most powerful S-Class, as well as the world's most powerful production saloon car. The S65 had a 0 to 60mph time of 4.2 seconds which was a conservative Mercedes-Benz estimate compared to owner-tested times of 3.8 seconds; the S65 could reach 100mph under 9 seconds. This early S65 was first registered in April 2004 and has since had four previous keepers. Costing a whopping £142,000 new, this S65 is suitably 'loaded' with many extras including exclusive Nappa leather, infrared protective side and rear glass, heater and ventilated front and rear seats including dynamic massaging, distronic cruise control, electric sunblind's and climate control across all zones to name a few. Presented in brilliant silver with graphite Nappa leather with anthracite, it has covered a mere 75,493 miles. This opulent 12 cylinder Bi-Turbo can still embarrass many supercars today, all whilst the passengers enjoy a massage from their seats! A valid MoT test certificate is present along with a V5 Registration document.?

Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG F1

Lot # 236 (Sale Order: 36 of 153)

The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and were sold under the SL-Class model name before being replaced by the R230 in 2001. The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details for the time. The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two-door convertible sports cars featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof; a first for the SL class, although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 (a 5.4 litre supercharged engine) with each engine individually hand assembled and signed by the technician. The F1 package enhanced an already formidable weapon, denoted by the term, '030 AMG Performance Pack' in the build specification, there are many pretenders out there but without '030' in history, walk away. The package includes the AMG Limited Slip Differential, AMG Compound Braking System, AMG Track-Calibrated Suspension (stiffer springs), alcantara headlining and a top speed of 186mph. This lovely 2005 model in Obsidian Black with grey AMG premium leather is highly sought-after, having just three owners from new. Having been serviced and maintained by Mercedes-Benz main dealers between 2005 and 2009, the recent care has been with renowned Mercedes-Benz specialist MBS of Exeter. Options on this car when new included panoramic Vario glass roof, Keyless Go, TV Tuner, newly refurbished Carlsson 20 inch 1/11 alloy wheels and Parktronic to name a few adding a whopping estimated £25,000 to the list price and taking the total bill in the region of £120,000. With an MoT until July 2017, a superb, well cared for example, inside and out, this is a competitively priced collectors car that has appreciated in value nearly as fast as it can eat up the tarmac, all whilst in the luxury and comfort of the SL cabin especially with the optional panoramic roof.

Reliant Scimitar GTE (SE6A)

Lot # 237 (Sale Order: 37 of 153)

The SE5 model of Reliants classic Scimitar came with the 3.0 litre Ford Essex engine providing a claimed top speed of over 120mph. A Borg-Warner automatic transmission was added as an option in 1970 and by 1971, overdrive on the four-speed manual was offered. In 1972 several improvements were included in the upgrade to SE5A, including a boost in power. The extra 7hp and maximum engine speed raised performance, the GTE was now capable of 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and top speed was raised to 121mph. More of a luxury model than the SE5, the SE6 series was promoted to the executive market. These models were two-door sports estates, again with the Ford V6 engine, the wheelbase was increased by 4" and the track by 3" making the cars correspondingly longer and wider than their predecessors. The extra length was used to improve rear-seat legroom and access which enhanced the car's credentials as a 'genuine' four-seater. The SE6 was replaced by the SE6A in late 1976. The SE6A displayed a number of changes, including Lockheed brakes and suspension revisions, in total 3,877 SE6As' were manufactured - making it the most popular version of all the SE6 shape. This Reliant Scimitar was last used on the road in 2014 although the vendor has started and driven her on private roads to ensure everything works correctly. Requiring restoration, this Scimitar is complete and could be an interesting opportunity for a fairly competent DIY mechanic. The Ford V6 engine is a good reliable and trusted unit and can produce a brisk performance when requested. This GTE is fitted with manual transmission and will undoubtedly offer an interesting drive when the works are completed. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a collection of previous MoT test certificates; this Reliant Scimitar is offered at no reserve.

Mini Cooper S 'ex-Madonna'

Lot # 238 (Sale Order: 38 of 153)

Introduced in 2001, the hatchback Mini was the first model of the new generation Mini and was back then simply known as Mini. It was available in Cooper, Cooper S and One variations. In many European markets, the Mini One was powered by a 1.4 litre version but all other petrol powered Minis used the 1.6 litre version. The names Cooper and Cooper S, used for the sportier version of the classic Mini, came from the involvement of John Cooper and the Cooper Car Company. Strapping a supercharger to the Mini Cooper elevated the performance to a level that most other road users didn't expect. This rubbed salt into the wounds of other performance car drivers when they were left for dead on a twisty road. It takes a keen eye to pick out the bonnet scoop; the only reliable visual indication that this is the hot Mini rather than just a tarted-up One. In December 2000, Madonna, quite possibly the most recognisable female artist on the planet, wed English film director Guy Ritchie. After their wedding, they settled into a multi-million pound London residence and as you would expect, living in London, purchased a small runabout to beat the traffic. This small runabout was the Mini Cooper S on offer today. Presented in black with full black leather interior, this well spec'd Cooper S could propel 'Madge' from 0-60 in just seven seconds. Offered with a comprehensive service history and having covered just 25,000 miles, this two previous owner car with copies of all log books showing Madonna Ritchie on the paperwork is, as expected, in fantastic condition, old MoT certificates accompany a new MoT certificate. Not only a collectable low mileage Mini Cooper S but one owned by a superstar; a potential future investment or just the opportunity to say you own and drive Madonna's Mini . Could you really pass on this opportunity??

Mercedes-Benz 300D Pillarless Phaeton

Lot # 239 (Sale Order: 39 of 153)

The Mercedes-Benz Type 300 was the company's largest and most-prestigious models throughout the 1950s. The Type 300 cars were elegant, exclusive and expensive. The 300 models were touring cars, often referred to as Adenauer's after Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, in office from 1949 to 1963; he employed six different versions during his tenure. These large saloons and four-door cabriolets featured many luxury features. Options such as Becker radio, VHF mobile telephone and dictation machine were geared to the business man and politician.  Introduced in August 1957, the 300D was the linear successor to the 300C, with a longer wheelbase, fuel injection and unique hardtop configuration transforming it into a pillarless phaeton. The additional 4" of wheelbase provided greater rear legroom and established the car as a true limousine in direct competition with the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Removable rear quarter lights allowed an unobstructed view in and out from the front vent window on back, much valued in the model's popular role as 'parade car'. Employing a slightly detuned version of the 300SL sports car's Bosch fuel injected engine, the 300D produced 180hp at 5500rpm with automatic transmission as standard. Power brakes, power steering, and Artic-Kar air-conditioning were added as options. A total of only 3,077 300D models were produced through March 1962 and was ultimately replaced as the Mercedes-Benz flagship by the 600 Pullman. This 1958 'Adenauer' saloon is finished in silver over maroon, with its cream leather interior also piped in maroon. The car has reportedly has only covered 86,000 miles from new, verified by many old MoT test certificates. The car has matching numbers and is also fitted with the very desirable power steering and central lubrication system. It is supplied with a history file, original owner's handbook and still retains its original Becker Mexico radio. In its early days the car was registered to a lawyer from Tampa, Florida and there is some correspondence in the history between him and the local Mercedes-Benz dealership in the early seventies. It remained in the United States until 1989 when it was shipped over to the UK and underwent some restoration work in the early nineties.  The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, a light service and an MoT test certificate valid until August 2017. This 'Adenauer' is described by the vendor as being in excellent condition throughout and represents a magnificent example of the Mercedes-Benz luxury flagship of the late 1950's. The car is offered for sale at no reserve.

Fiat Barchetta

Lot # 240 (Sale Order: 40 of 153)

The Fiat type 176 Barchetta was Fiat's re-entry to the convertible or spider car market and a challenge to the popular Mazda MX5 from Japan. With distinctive styling that can be traced back to the 1949 Ferrari 166MM, production began at the Maggiora plant close to Turin in 1995 and, due to the lack of  a spray shop, were painted at Bertone's plant and then returned for final assembly. Built on the Fiat Punto floor pan and fitted with the 1,747cc twin over-head cam engine with Fiat's variable valve timing, these engines are very reliable as well as lively and responsive. With a firm chassis and very good panel fit, these hand assembled sports cars are great fun to drive and have what must be the easiest and quickest hood to put up or down. Production ceased at the Maggiora factory in 2002 and production was moved to Fiats Mirafiori plant, where a face lift model or phase II was built until 2005. The vehicle on offer today is showing just over 155,000km (approximately 96,350 miles) and is finished in Grigio Steel and comes with the comfort pack of electric mirrors, leather interior, electric aerial, central locking and passenger air bag. Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Roadster

Lot # 241 (Sale Order: 41 of 153)

The Mercedes-Benz SL class has been manufactured since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German 'Sport Leicht' or 'Sport Light' and was first applied to the 300SL 'Gullwing,' named after the upward-opening doors. The term SL-Class refers to the marketing variations of the vehicle, including the numerous engine configurations spanning five design generations. The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 cars were produced from 1971 through to 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The R107 took the chassis components of the mid-size W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class (W116) and has become a benchmark of quality throughout the years. With only 11,650 miles recorded, this 1986 example has to be perhaps the lowest mileage SL on the market today. As one would expect with such low miles, the condition of the car is described as being excellent in respect of the engine, interior, chassis and transmission. This original righthand drive example is finished in the desirable colour scheme of Smoke Silver metallic with a contrasting black hide interior and fitted with air conditioning. The factory hardtop is supplied offering comfortable all year round motoring. Included in the history file are two MoT test certificates, with the latest valid until 31st May 2017 and no advisories as well as a number of invoices. Very rare to find with such low mileage, this 500 SL presents a fantastic opportunity to buy a unique motorcar.

Pontiac Parisienne Convertible

Lot # 242 (Sale Order: 42 of 153)

For most of its life, the Parisienne was the Canadian nameplate for the top-of-the-line model sold by Canada's Pontiac showrooms. Parisienne's were distinct from other Canadian Pontiac models by their standard features the luxuriousness of upholstery fabrics, standard equipment such as courtesy interior and boot lights, bright trim mouldings in the interior, distinct exterior accent chrome pieces and availability of two and four-door hardtops and convertibles. The Pontiac Parisienne was built by GM in Canada from 1958 to 1986 both as a car for the domestic market and as an export car to Australia. Available as a sedan or a convertible, they were famous for the luxury of their interiors and their high standard specification. A very rare righthand drive Pontiac Parisienne convertible, it was originally built for the Australian export market in 1967 but only went as far as Southampton before being offloaded and sold to its first UK owner; it was then registered in Wales. The car was kept for the lifetime of the first owner before being passing on to his son who kept it for a further four years. This known history suggests the recorded mileage of 56,000 to be genuine. The car was then subject to a complete restoration by west London American car specialists, 'The Romance of Rust', where a total of £15,500 was spent on a complete rebuild and respray with lead loading, rather than filler, being used on all the body repairs. Their detailing work included new door cards, new carpets throughout, a new power hood, re-sprung seats and fresh upholstery. More recently the car has benefitted from a complete service, a new fuel pump, alternator, front brake discs and callipers plus a new battery. Finished in white with red interior, this rare righthand drive Pontiac Parisienne is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate and comes complete with the original owner's manual, sales brochure and period Parts and Chassis Shop manuals. It is said to drive superbly today by the current owner, it certainly offers a very rare opportunity to own a bit of genuine American muscle with the rare advantage of righthand drive. ?

Studebaker Commander Cruising Sedan

Lot # 243 (Sale Order: 43 of 153)

This rare righthand drive 1939 Studebaker Commander was sold new via Needham's Motors Studebaker dealership in Sydney, Australia. The car was originally given as an 18th birthday present by her father to a Miss Clare Glasson who kept it until the car was sold after she passed away in the early 1990's. Typically, export Studebakers were shipped from South Bend, Indiana as a chassis with bonnet, wings and doors and finished on arrival to avoid import duties that fully assembled cars attracted. This particular example was assembled and bodied by T. J. Richards coachworks in Adelaide, South Australia. T. J. Richards later became Holden bodyworks in 1940 and was taken over by General Motors just after the second world war. In the mid-1990's, the car was given a full 'nut and bolt' down to the chassis, body-off restoration. Originally finished in Balsam Green, the body was repainted in two-tone green metallic, giving the car a striking look, while the mechanics, including the engine, gearbox, front suspension and brakes, were fully rebuilt. The interior was also fully restored in maroon leather with all fittings and wood graining restored and dashboard gauges reconditioned. A genuine period AWA radio has also been fitted under the dash and is in full working order following recent refurbishment. Acquired in 2007 from a UK based Studebaker collector, over the next six years the car made a number of appearances in the pre-1966 car park at the Goodwood Revival and always attracted considerable attention. With its lounge-like interior, the car provides the perfect period transportation for this type of event. Under the previous ownership, the car had required very little attention and has benefitted from approximately £4,000 worth of invoices, maintaining the vehicle to a high standard and making some minor improvements (including a new set of white wall tires in 2010 which are still perfectly fresh). The only non-standard modification to the car has been the fitting of a discreet 12v starter circuit to ensure the car starts 'on the button'. The vendor purchased the car in 2013 and put the car away in his collection. This Studebaker Commander has covered proximally 103,000 miles from new and is supplied with a folder of paperwork, restoration photographs, V5 registration document, owner's handbook, a complete set of workshop and parts manuals, it is exempt from both road tax and an MoT test. Studebakers of this period are renowned for being powerful, reliable, comfortable and above all very drivable. This example is in fine condition and should give the next owner many years of driving pleasure. ?

Lincoln Continental Mk. IV 'Cartier Edition'

Lot # 244 (Sale Order: 44 of 153)

We are delighted to offer this 1976 Lincoln Continental Mk. IV Cartier Edition, a rare surviving original that represents a great example luxury driving experiences of the 1970's. The whitewall tires, opera window, spare tire-hump, wood-accented dash, retractable headlight covers and Cartier clock complete this vehicle's luxury into one package. For the 1976 model year, Lincoln introduced the designer series where special editions Mk. IVs were equipped with colour, trim, and interior choices by famous fashion designers, all carrying the designer's signature on the opera windows. These were Bill Blass, Givenchy, Pucci, and the Cartier. The Cartier's were externally finished dove grey paint with a dove grey 'Valino Grain' landau vinyl roof, red and white pin striping and dove grey body mouldings. The interior was in dove grey cloth or leather, leather in this instance. This well optioned Mk. IV came with speed control, power windows, power locks and single exhausts. Another important feature was the Hydroboost four-wheel brake system. This example is reported to run extremely well and has been well taken care of. The quality of the care shows as it sits today in excellent condition. Imported from Arizona around 2001 means it benefits from immaculate chrome and no rust and latterly was re-trimmed in its original dove grey leather sourced from the original factory in Scotland. Forming part of the respected collection of Mark Brzezicki, renowned drummer and founder member of 1980's rock band, Big Country as well as string of other session acts including Ultravox, Procal Harum, The Cult, Pete Townshend and Sting. His cars are only ever immaculate throughout and with just 36,240 miles recorded, represent an opportunity to acquire a rare and little used example forming the cornerstone of his collection for many years. ?

Lincoln Continental Mk. V 'The Bill Blass Edition'

Lot # 245 (Sale Order: 45 of 153)

Rarely does a manufacturer turn out one brilliant design one after another after yet another, but that is exactly what happened with the Continental Mk. III, Mk. IV, and Mk. V series. Spanning a period of more than 10 years, these cars set new standards year after year for design excellence, glamour and prestige.  This 1979 example was the last year for the Mk. V and once again came the limited edition series designed by Cartier, Bill Blass, Givenchy, and Pucci with new colours and trims selected to awe the Lincoln buyers. Occupants received admiring glances from strangers by merely having the good fortune of riding in such fine automobiles. A smooth, solid ride and quiet cabin are areas where these cars excelled above the rest, calming passengers and isolating them from the turmoil of the world outside. Everything looked different through the tinted windows of a Lincoln Continental. Nominated at the American Fashion Hall of Fame, American designer Bill Blass lent his name and concept to this, a rare limited edition' Bill Blass' edition. A respected leader in his field is also an epithet that can be applied to the vendor of this example. Legendary drummer, Mark Brzezicki , founder member of 1980's rock band, Big Country as well as string of other session acts including Ultravox, Procal Harum, The Cult, Pete Townshend and The Pretenders. In fact, the self-effacing Mark Brzezicki was recently nominated 4th best all-time drummer. Ever. And that's impressive but his real passion seems to be the Mk. V Lincoln Continental and this example represents an excellent example from his collection. This Mk. V addition is distinguished by dark blue body side mouldings and dual Gold paint stripes on body side and rear deck lid, so often missing.  Whilst the white carriage roof is standard, the interior leather is more unusual, it being white with blue piping and Bill Blass buttons, and not the other way around. Acquired by said percussionist in 2006 from Cape Elizabeth on America's East coast, it has since been meticulously cared for and forms part of his limited edition Mk. V collection. Supplied with an extensive history file, this, The Bill Blass edition is the embodiment of outdoor life.

Ford Thunderbird Landau

Lot # 246 (Sale Order: 46 of 153)

Affectionately known as the T-Bird, the 1965 Ford Thunderbird was the fourth generation, its re-styling boasting a more square appearance but still retained a similar look to the previous generation with a comparable grill design and twin headlights. The 300 bhp V8 was mated to a three speed automatic transmission and disc brakes were added at the front.  Sequential indicators resulted in the individual segments of the rear lights flashing from inside to out. Three versions were offered, hardtop, convertible and Landau.  This 1965 Ford Thunderbird Landau was imported into the UK from the USA in circa 1991 and was UK registered on 20th July 1991. This T-Bird is powered by the Ford V8 power plant of 390 cubic inch (6400cc) and fuelled by a Holly carburettor. On a recent test, the Thunderbird drove well and certainly had a presence about it, the vendor informing us that it attracts a positive reaction wherever it goes. A workshop manual accompanies the Thunderbird as well as an MoT test certificate valid until January 2017. This T-Bird is largely original and un-molested and awaits a new owner/enthusiast to enjoy.

International L110 Pick-Up

Lot # 247 (Sale Order: 47 of 153)

The International Harvester L-Series was introduced in 1949 as the replacement for the KB-Series and was available with a range of body-styles with electric wipers, radio and clock optional. International would continue to produce the line until 1952 when it was replaced by the R Series. Of the pickup-type bodies, these were available in six and eight foot lengths and it is the shorter of the two offered here today.  Rolling off the production line in 1951, this Pick-up version has had a full life before a full restoration in 1985 where its iconic styling took a more avant-garde turn. The engine has been, as you would expect, fully re-built with the 383ci Stroker engine still the motive force. Power-steering has been added however alongside more modern disc brakes and chrome alloy wheels. The hood and rear deck now operates hydraulically and even the doors are electronically actuated. Presented in excellent condition throughout, this modern take on a classic American workhorse has enormous appeal.

Lincoln Continental Mk. V 'Collectors Series'

Lot # 248 (Sale Order: 48 of 153)

The Continental was produced by the Lincoln division of the Ford Motor Company from 1939 to 1948 and again from 1956 to 2002. Despite often sharing the same floor plan with less-expensive Fords in more recent years, the Lincoln Continental name conveyed a special cachet being a distinctively styled, highly equipped luxury car in the course of its long history. In 1975, the two-door hardtop model was replaced with a pillared coupé; the four-door received a new roofline to further differentiate it from the Ford and Mercury models. The Continental Town Coupé received a square opera window in its rear pillar while the Town Car received an oval one. The braking performance was a sore point on full-size American cars of that time but was improved as the Continental became one of the first American cars with four-wheel disc brakes. In 1977, the radiator grille changed from a rectangular type to a Rolls-Royce style grille. The new grille was both higher and narrower than in previous years but the position of the headlamps remained unchanged. This Lincoln Continental Mk. V 'Collectors Series' was imported from the state of Illinois in June 2007 and is fitted with the large engine option. Finished in pale blue, with the stylish blue twin comfort 'lounge seats', the vendor informs us that the car is rust free and drives very well. It is important to note that prior to its stay in a prominent classic car museum, we are informed that it had only one owner recorded. The cockpit is exemplified by 'ebony woodtone appliqué' and a brushed chrome finish.   This Mk. V Continental is supplied with a V5C registration document, a new MoT test certificate and the US title document. This is an enormously stylish limited edition American car from the 1970's representing the very best the automotive industry had to offer.?

Ford Galaxie 500 Sunliner Convertible

Lot # 249 (Sale Order: 49 of 153)

By the late 1950s, America was well in the grip of rocket-age fantasies and the newspapers were full of the latest moves in the space race as Uncle Sam battled with the Soviet Union for supremacy in interplanetary exploration. No surprise then that when Ford launched its new top-of-the-range model in 1959, it was called the Galaxie. Of truly vast proportions, it abandoned the ostentatious fins and flourishes of the early 1950s for a more sober, sleek and scientific look. Available as either a sedan or a convertible in two-door and four-door form, it came with a range of engines from a 3.7-litre straight-six to a humongous 7-litre V8. For 1962, the Galaxie name was applied to all of Ford's full size models, as the Fairlane name was moved to a new intermediate model and Custom was temporarily retired. New top-line Galaxie 500 (two-door sedan and hardtop, four-door sedan and hardtop, and 'Sunliner' convertible) models offered plusher interiors, more chrome trim outside and a few additional luxury items over and above what was standard on the plainer Galaxie models This rare factory built righthand drive example rolled off the production line in 1962, was imported from Canada in 1968 and boasts one former owner. Finished in white with a contrasting turquoise interior, this beautiful car has a 5.8 litre (353ci) V8 mated to a column mounted three speed automatic gearbox. With a 12 month MoT test certificate in the file along with 30 years worth of old certificates, this is an extremely rare and sought after piece of Americana. With an electric hood in good working order and power steering taking the stress out of driving, this is the perfect summer cruiser.

BMW 850Ci

Lot # 250 (Sale Order: 50 of 153)

Design of the 8-Series began in 1984 with the final design phase and production development in 1986. It debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in early September 1989 and was designed to move beyond the market of the original 6-Series. The 8 Series however had substantially improved performance as well as a far higher purchase price. Over DM1.5b was spent on development; BMW used CAD tools, still unusual at the time, to design the car's all-new body. Combined with wind tunnel testing, the resulting car had a drag coefficient of 0.29 and offered the first V12 engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox on a road car. It was also one of the first vehicles to be fitted with an electronic 'drive-by-wire' throttle. Presented in metallic green with good paintwork and a contrasting grey leather interior, still looks the modern looking sporting coupé and benefits from a host of extras such as air conditioning, ABS and heated seats. The glass is also lightly tinted with central locking on the doors and alloy wheels fitted. A light history file accompanies the car as does UK registration and a 12 month MoT test certificate.  Offered at no reserve, this commanding example represents great value.
