As always, Porsches focus is on racing. Enter the 911 GT3, the street version of Porsches production-based racing GT3 and RSR cup cars. The GT3 is a real driver enthusiasts car. Designed to be sparse and therefore devoid of comfort items that added unnecessary weight to the car, only adding stiff and aggressive leg and shoulder bolstering, it is perfect for track duty. Tiptronic transmission, air conditioning and a CD radio could be No-Cost options and add-ons as well. What sets this GT3 from other GT3s is that this Porsche was used as the promotional car by Porsche and put on the auto show circuit. This Cobalt blue GT3 is highly optioned and comes with two window stickers, one factory stock window sticker and the other showing the auto show sticker. It also comes with two sets of black leather seats covered in stylish Alcantara trim accented with red stitching. One set are the sport racing seats and the other are the factory luxury power seats. From and appearance and mechanical standpoint, the GT3 sits 1.5 inches lower than a stock 997, and with impressive performance, its 3.6 litre flat 6 nets an easy 415 hp. Just as fast as the GT3 scorches the pavement, huge ceramic brakes stop the car on a dime, while all along melodious exhaust notes emit through the center dual exhaust ports. This GT3 define versatility, it could be used as a daily driver, a collector car or as a competitive track car, you decide!

It seems that Porsche and Volkswagen have always had a close but fraught relationship. While it was Dr. Porsches vision that gave rise to Volkswagen, history has shown the two companies often clashed. Going back to the late 1960s, Porsche and VW were both in need of a sportscar to fill out their lineup. VWs Karmann Ghia was cripplingly expensive to build and was showing its age. In Stuttgart, Porsches 356 was killed off in 1965 but there was no distinct model to take over where it left off. The 912 was a very good car in its own right, but buyers saw it as little more than a poor-mans 911 and sales were weak. Porsche needed a new and distinct car to offer below the 911, but did not have the money to design one from scratch, but VW did.
As such, a Gentlemans agreement was made between the two companies bosses to jointly develop and market a new sports car. The 914, as it would become known, was to be a joint project where expenses and marketing were shared. The plan was for four-cylinder cars to be badged as VWs and sold by their dealers, while six-cylinder cars would be badged and sold by Porsche. Unfortunately, this did not work out as planned as the sudden passing of VWs chief meant a new CEO, Kurt Lotz, was ushered in who had no desire to continue the project or pay for any of Porsches cars. As far as Lotz was concerned, the 914 was a VW and Porsche had to pay if they wanted to be a part of the project. As a result, the price of the car skyrocketed and it hit the market costing nearly as much as a base 911T. But the 914s brilliance saved it from obscurity. In four and six cylinder form, it was a balanced, sublime handling machine. The mid-engine chassis was light weight and returned incredible handling. The 914 was truly a sports car boiled down to its essence.
Long seen as not a real Porsche by some, the 914 has finally begun to receive the recognition it has deserved all along for being a brilliant drivers car. Particularly in rare, 2.0 liter six-cylinder specification, the 914-6 delivers performance that can give a contemporary 911 a proper run for its money. Porsches competitions department developed the 914-6 into a rally and GT-class winner, and if it werent for it showing signs of surpassing the flagship 911, it could have gone on to be an all-time great in motorsport.
1978 Porsche 930
Lot # 131 (Sale Order: 30 of 43)

The Porsche 911 Turbo, known internally as the 930, was the first totally successful and ultimately the most enduring application of turbocharging to a road-going automobile. The ingenious and always methodical engineers at Porsche had learned about turbocharging through their development of the 917/10 and 917/30 racing cars that dominated the Can-Am series during 1972 and 1973. They then set about applying what they had gleaned from racing to the 911 road car. After a $2 million development cost, the production version of the 930 debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 1974. The 3-liter engine made 260 horsepower, and visually the Turbo could be distinguished by the whale tail rear spoiler, wider wheels and flared wheel arches. Export of the car to the United States didnt start until 1976, but when it did the 930 became one of the most desirable cars on the road. Now fondly remembered and recognized as one of the most important road-going Porsches of all, it is highly collectible.
This 1978 Porsche 930 Coupe is the recipient of a fresh, total nut and bolt restoration that started with an already clean, straight 57,000-mile original example. During the exhaustive restoration, which is documented in receipts totaling $80,000, the engine was completely rebuilt and bored out to 3.3-liters, and the seats were updated to electric ones from a 1979 Porsche. It is finished in a bright yellow that complements the aggressive Turbo bodywork, and has a black leather interior that looks better than new.
With just test miles since it was completed, the restoration is not only exquisite but also very fresh. It could be shown or thoroughly enjoyed, and leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. Vintage 930s range widely in quality but this car, totally restored with an incredible attention to detail and without consideration of expense, is one of the very best.

The project was tabled in favor of a joint venture effort with VW and Audi to build the first Porsche SUV, the Cayenne was introduced as a 2004 Production model. However in 2000 Porsche had already displayed a Carrera GT concept car at the Frankfurt Auto Show and due to a strong interest in demand the street car ultimately made it to production. In 1989 Porsche commemorated its heritage by paying tribute to the original and now iconic 356 Speedster with similar versions of its modern day sports car, the 911 series. The common denominator between these models is the chopped down windscreen and sparse interior and trim. However in typical Porsche fashion, the option list became long. Worldwide production of the 964 Speedster was 936 units, of which only 427 of which were allocated to the United States. What make this 15,000 mile speedster so rare is that this was special ordered in Ferrari Fly yellow. Other noted options include Recaro factory optioned hardback sport seats and factory air conditioning, all books, records, keys, limited slip and original window sticker.

The dashboard was slightly redesigned and the ashtray was now and option and located under the dash making room for the optional in dash VDO clock, the Bee Hive taillights were replaced with teardrop style and the front turn signal light escutcheons were changed to a protruding style for safety and US DOT reasons. 1964 Porsche 356 C
Lot # 118 (Sale Order: 43 of 43)
An early matching numbers unrestored 1964 Porsche 356 C which retains its original pans, longitudinals, battery box, and much of its interior. This car remained in the original owners family for 51 years. GraCie or 216464 as she is also known has lived an exciting life while being loved and used as Porsche intended; all the while being meticulously maintained and repaired as needed to preserve this beautiful automobile for over a half century. She started her life in Dec 11, 1963 (per the Certificate of Authenticity) and was delivered to her first owner on March 27, 1964 at Bill Spreen Porsche In Atlanta, GA. Total price including tax, tag, and title was $4,312.66 (per the original invoice which will be included with the car). This price included $312.70 worth of dealer installed options including a Bursch exhaust, which the car wears to this very day. The first owner used 216464 as a daily driver and was a fastidious record keeper (Want to know how much gas was pumped into the tank on July 31, 1964? 9.4 gallons, thats how much). Of course these books will remain with the car. Circa 1970, the original owners son took possession of the car. The son continued to take loving care of the car while enjoying it thoroughly. During the mid-80s the son made minor (and mostly reversible) modifications (as was required during that more lenient era) and started campaigning 216464 in vintage racing events such as the Walter Mitty at Road Atlanta, races at Sebring, and the St. Petersburg Grand Prix all the while it remained street legal. As time passed, GraCie traversed through several stages of life from a brand new pride and joy, daily driver, toy, racer, garage queen, family heirloom, and finally significant asset and investment opportunity, which has now brought her here to you today. Amazingly, 216464 with her rich history remains a very original car looking much as she did in March 1964 in her elegant Slate Gray Paint and Black Leatherette interior. And driving the way a preserved Porsche 356 C should.
The car comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity verifying that all numbers and colors are correct. Original dated coded chrome wheels. Original non-crested hub caps. Original factory owners manual & factory service book. The actual dealer invoice from the original purchase. The original tool bag & jack. Numerous log books and receipts.
Rarely will you find a sports car that has lived such an active and interesting life, yet remains as well preserved as GraCie. This is not your average 356C!
