Contemporary impressionist oil on canvas painting of a landscape with two female figures in a field or a summer day with trees and lake in the background. Sign on the lower right hand. Contemporary gift rococo frame, linen mat and gift fillet, 24" x 30". Gissen, 1921 through 2003, lived and worked in Connecticut. His work is well known on the Eastern seaboard. Estimated value: A painting from this series of similar size and subject sold in excess of $25,000 in Philadelphia in the early 1990s.

Handmade paper sculpture with pale blue, dusty rose and white sculpted forms accented by dried wood bark-like form on a background of Japanese contemporary gift wrap in teal, gold with white chrysanthemums. 22"h x 20"w x 6"d in acrylic box. Chatelain, selected as the U.S. delegate in1983 to the prestigious Kyoto International Paper Conference, has shown in dozens of solo and group shows, including a solo exhibit at the Gallery Beni in Kyoto. Chatelain's work is popular among Southwest collectors of paper craft and among contemporary Japanese collectors.

Contemporary Japanese work on hand-laid paper. Embossed textured designs in blue and red designs predominate a black ground of feathery vein like designs. Inscribed, signed and #1430 in pencil along the lower margin. Free floating plexiglass and metal frame. 23-3/4" square. Several pieces in permanent collection of LACMA (Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art).

The Mungers were good friends of Ted (Dr. Seuss) and Audrey Geisel. This poem by Dr. Seuss. was printed in the New York Times Magazine on June 15, 1975 (page 71) as an Endpaper edited by Glenn Collins and clipped out as published on newsprint and attached to cardboard and given by Dr. Seuss to George and Piret Munger, prominent leaders in the gourmet food world. Dr. Seuss wrote faintly on the top of it "May this never hebben to cornichons! The 10" x 12" item is signed by him (faintly) at the bottom "With love from Dr. Seuss." The caption on the poem is "The economic situation clarified: A prognostic re-evaluation By The Dr. Seuss Surveys.
Fukumoto Shibori. 51" x 30'. Two raw silk panels, hung on metal rods.
Utilizing the ancient art of tie dye, Fukumoto achieves a fresh, natural texture with light and movement that is distinctly modern. A graduate of the Kyoto University of Fine Arts, she initially adopted Western styles of painting but after traveling to New Guinea and, specifically, Bhutan, she became intrigued with dyeing as a medium. After marrying Indigo artist Shigeki Fukumoto, a dye artist from a family with a long tradition in the field, she continued to explore contemporary themes in the ancient craft. Est. value: $1500
