JOSE ROYO SIGNED NUMBERED LIMITED EDITION HAND EMBELLISHED SERIGRAPH "LA PERLA" EST $2250-3000

Lot # 230 (Sale Order: 251 of 387)

Impressionist 78/125 Unique Hand Embellished by the artist Serigraph W/COA Backshot of Latin Woman Looking Back over Shoulder 18x14.5 Impressive parallels can be drawn between Royo’s work and that of the Spanish master, Joaquin Sorolla. Both were born in Valencia, both were classically trained, both ‘matured’ in styles of painting capturing the dramatic visual essence of their homeland - Valencia and the Mediterranean Sea. They have both been described as ‘Painters of the Light’; some have said, “of Light of the South”, that is, the southern coast of Spain. It is the overwhelming influence of Sorolla blended with his own style that makes Royo’s masterful treatment of the Mediterranean subjects both haunting and mysterious, yet full of raw power at the same time. The sweeping brush strokes, bold swaths of colour, and heavy impasto capture the eye and draw one inward until that final absolute moment of awareness that one is actually there in the scene feeling the light and heat of the sun, the salt and sea spray, and hearing the crashing surf. Royo conveys not merely image, but mood and atmosphere as well. This is rare in today’s art world, hence the connoisseur is compelled to compare with the old masters. Thus, the appeal of Jose Royo’s work for today’s collector becomes obvious....more

RARE OLEG ZHIVETIN ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS "BLOSSOMING BEAUTY" MUSEUM QUALITY PIECE EST $5700-67000

Lot # 231 (Sale Order: 252 of 387)

Impressionist Rare Original Oil on Canvas Canvas Magical Rennaisance Style Woman 47.5x41.5 in Museum Quality Frame Stunning piece that comes to life right off of the wall!! A rare opportunity! Oleg Zhivetin was born in 1964 Oleg: Russian icon painting is a basic and profound point-of-reference in Oleg Zhivetin's work. The viewer will find religious imagery golden halos, Madonnas, angels, and saints. Other typical icons include hearts, musical instruments, books, celestial beings, and flowers, symbols of beauty, delicacy, and spiritual development. One of the most beautiful aspects of Oleg's painting is his skillful rendering of faces, hands and feet. Oleg's characters often communicate through the use of hand gestures rather than eye contact. Gestures are imbued with subtle meaning; a deep sense of shared experience is created through this control of body language. To study a Zhivetin is to take a symbolic journey to enlightenment. Intricate patterns are ever present. The Soviet Union's loss is our gain. For Olex Zhivetin, creating art is like uncovering the meaning of life. It's no wonder then that he continues to move the art world with the beauty, symbolism, and spirituality of his work....more

RARE RARE ZU MING HO MUSEUM QUALITY ORIGINAL ACRYLIC PAINTING "HEARTLAND" EST $4000-6000

Lot # 232 (Sale Order: 253 of 387)

"RARE Original Acrylic Painting Indian Women Tending Goats 50X50 Gold Leaf Framed in a Museum Quality Style The highlight of our Auction! Zu Ming Ho was born in 1949 into a remarable family that had already produced several well-known artists. He began taking lessons in both Chinese and Western style figure sketching, watercolors and landscape painting while still in elementary school. Like many members of the emerging Yunnan School, he had hoped to enlighten the Chinese people with his uniquely westernized versions of traditional Chinese themes. The Red Chinese authorities were not amused or enlightened; when the cultural revolution swept over China in 1966, it swept away everything western or different. Along with many contemporary artists of his day, Ho was required to paint only portraits of Mao Tse Tung, and propaganda posters depicting the struggles of the working class. When he continued to paint images in his own style, Ho was taken away by the Red Guard and placed in a forced labor camp. Many of his paintings were destroyed or vandalized....more

Born in New York City in 1894, Norman Rockwell always wanted to be an artist. At age 14, Rockwell enrolled in art classes at The New York School of Art (formerly The Chase School of Art). Two years later, in 1910, he left high school to study art at The National Academy of Design. He soon transferred to The Art Students League, where he studied with Thomas Fogarty and George Bridgman. Rockwell found success early. While still in his teens, he was hired as art director of Boys' Life, the official publication of the Boy Scouts of America, and began a successful freelance career illustrating a variety of young people's publications. At age 21, Rockwell's family moved to New Rochelle, New York. There, Rockwell set up a studio with the cartoonist Clyde Forsythe and produced work for such magazines as Life, Literary Digest, and Country Gentleman. In 1916, the 22-year-old Rockwell painted his first cover for The Saturday Evening Post, the magazine considered by Rockwell to be the "greatest show window in America." Over the next 47 years, another 321 Rockwell covers would appear on the cover of the Post. The 1930s and 1940s are generally considered to be the most fruitful decades of Rockwell's career. In 1939, Rockwell's work began to reflect small-town American life. In 1943, inspired by President Franklin Roosevelt's address to Congress, Rockwell painted the Four Freedoms paintings. In 1953, the Rockwell family moved from Arlington, Vermont, to Stockbridge, Massachusetts. 1973, Rockwell established a trust to preserve his artistic legacy by placing his works in the custodianship of the Old Corner House Stockbridge Historical Society, later to become Norman Rockwell Museum at Stockbridge. 1977, Rockwell received the nation's highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal....more

Russell (1864 -1926) painted and sculpted images of the western frontier as he witnessed them. His popular paintings, watercolors, and sketches and are widely recognized as capturing the spirit of the vanished and romantic era of American history, documenting the old west and the daily life of fur traders, cowboys, and Native Americans. JEAN-CLAUDE NOVARO UNIQUE ROUND HANDMADE GLASS VASE ONE OF A KIND PURPLE/ORANGE/WHITE EST $750-1000

Lot # 238 (Sale Order: 258 of 387)

Glass Sculpture Vase One of a Kind signed by artist Unique Handmade Art Glass W/COA Born in Antibes, France in 1943; Jean-Claude Novaro is today recognized as one of the greatest glass blowers of our time. His unique and distinctive art-glass creations are highly prized and sought after by art connoisseurs world-wide. The acclaim and success Novaro enjoys today didn’t come easily. Novaro began his lifelong passion for glass in 1957 when he apprenticed at a glassworks in France when he was only 14 years old. Novaro’s love of the craft, combined with incredibly hard work, perseverance and talent, allowed him to become a “maitre verrier” or master glassmaker by the unprecedented age of 20. Jean-Claude spent the next ten years at the glass factory, in charge of production, ambiance, and the apprenticeship program. During these early years, Jean-Claude also made little glass animals to sell to tourists for a few francs apiece. Novaro then began to experiment with pushing glass to its extreme limits in size, creating very large and small objects. Novaro has had over 125 individual and collective shows of his work throughout the world, including France, Germany, Belgium, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Saudi Arabia and the United States. Novaro is known today in the glass community not only for his amazing technical and artistic abilities but for his constant search for new ways to stretch the capacity of glass. Jean-Claude has invented new techniques, like his hand painting in between layers of glass and his magique collection, that leave people mystified and in awe. He is also a traditionalist in his insistance on working alone, letting every piece be a creation of his own gifted hands....more

ROBERT K. WHITE RARE LARGE ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS "RINCONADA NEW MEXICO" est $3-4000

Lot # 239 (Sale Order: 259 of 387)

Landscape original oil on canvas W/COA STUNNING BRILLIANT HUGE BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ART! 45x60 unframed, stretched Robert K. White was born in Salinas California, on May 22, 1950. While he was growing up in the Monterey Valley, Robert became aware of his artistic talents at a very early age. The stark and beautiful wind swept coast of Monterey gave him a freedom of spirit that shines through his work today and is often the subject of his paintings. Like John Steinbeck, his early years were spent observing familiar people and places, from the Salinas Valley to the Monterey Coast, which made a lasting impression on him. Robert White has accumulated many unsought accolades for his work around the world. His talent is truly natural, he has never had any formal training or instruction. I think talent is a matter of focusing one's consciousness, often to the exclusion of other aspects of life. Most people find their way by the diffuse light of a 100 watt bulb; they see everything with reasonable clarity but not too intensely. Talented people, on the other hand, may focus their 100 watts into a pinpoint laser beam; they perceive the object on which their beam falls very well, but often stumble over the ordinary furniture of life." Robert has refined his techniques through a painstaking study of the masters, uncovering many forgotten techniques used by the great masters of the past. Robert has emerged as an extraordinarily diverse artist with a mastery of many painting techniques. Of much greater significance, however, is his ability to incorporate any of these techniques, in a wide range of subject matter. The work of Robert White has been collected and commissioned by well-known celebrities, fine art connoisseurs and corporations from around the world. In addition, his work is featured in various public collections, (too numerous to mention.)...more

FREDERIC WHITAKER "CACTUS COWBOY" EST $300-500

Lot # 256 (Sale Order: 271 of 387)

"Southwest 199/275 Limited edition signed lithograph W/COA 35x24 unframed Cowboys riding through the desert Frederic Whitaker (1891-1980) won more than 150 awards for his representational watercolors. In addition to his painting and leadership contributions in the visual arts, Whitaker wrote two books on watercolor, ""Whitaker on Watercolor"" and ""A Guide to Painting Better Pictures"", and a third, ""The Artist and the Real World,"" random reflections on the art world. He wrote more than 90 articles on artists for American Artist magazine, and was a contributor to The Artist of London and Today's Art, New York. Whitaker's watercolors are meticulously designed on a small scale, where he would ""think"" his way through each detail. When pleased with the overall design, he transferred it to the full sheet, confident in exactly what he wanted to do. Ideas for his paintings came from things/people/circumstances he observed, usually picking out the ""unusual."" Whitaker often found beauty in architectural scenes, but he handled every challenge: the human figure, landscapes, seascapes, city scenes, country scenes, night scenes, details of trees, whimsical dolls, and variations of doorway or archway depictions. Frederic Whitaker was born in Providence, R.I., Jan. 9, 1891, and quit school at age 14 to go to work. On Valentines Day, 1943, artist Frederic Whitaker met artist Eileen Monaghan, who was to become Eileen Monaghan Whitaker, at a one-man exhibit of his work at Ferargil Galleries in New York City. In 1949, Whitaker retired from business to devote himself to painting, writing, and serving in varying leadership capacities for art societies. In 1965, the Whitakers moved to La Jolla, Calif. He died in his home March 9, 1980....more

Southwest 9/500 Signed Numbered Print with color Remarque (A True Story) It’s 1840 with an early winter blanket of snow for this part of Texas. Though no one yet sleeps, he dropped his guard, lost the opportunity in one shot to even the score and as suddenly as it started, we find it yet unfinished. The Comanches now have more than a horse and a rifle, they have “A White Captive”. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lloyd Hovland’s earliest childhood memories are of sketching wildlife and nature scenes. Throughout the years, he has evolved into one of the leading artists in the U.S. to paint a wide spectrum of nature and the environment. Lloyd’s unique style of painting combines his brushstrokes with the emotions and the mood of he subject with fine and realistic detail. Lloyd’s career has permitted him to study under such famous artists as Norman Rockwell, Harold Von Schmidt, John Atherton and other well-known artists in Advanced Famous Artist courses. Starting with a SPORTS AFIELD cover, his background has evolved to where today Lloyd’s scenes are enjoyed by thousands of wildlife lovers and collectors in homes and offices throughout the World. CHRISTINE ROSAMOND SIGNED NUMBERED PRINT "FIRST STATE ROSAMOND '79 ONE WOMAN SHOWS" EST $50-100

Lot # 262 (Sale Order: 274 of 387)

Impressionist 590/700 signed numbered limited edition print 29x20 framed In 1972 at an art street bazaar in Los Angeles, a shy young artist, entirely self-taught, displayed her first two oil paintings. Within six months she achieved national acclaim. Those of you who may not recognize her name will recognize her style. By 1976 she had become the most published artist in the world eclipsing such legendary artists as Norman Rockwell and Salvadore Dali. Her published works sold in the millions - more than any other artist dead or alive. Thus, it is said that she met with historical notoriety and overnight success. At the age of 25, Rosamond was a major player in the art world, and one of few women ever to succeed in it. Since 1974 Rosamond has published over 40 limited editions and the plan is to continue to publish the late artist's works. Her paintings, noted for their negative space, economy of line and purity of subject matter immediately struck a chord with the public. The portraits, while often serene, evoke a deeper response from the viewer. On March 26, 1994 the world lost this treasured artist on the rocky coast of the Pacific Ocean. Rosamond's artistic legacy is preserved forever in her works, which eloquently express the essence of the feminine spirit. Her use of negative space became her signature, inviting viewers to participate in the painting by requiring their own completion or resolution of the image. As she matured, so did her art. Colors deepened, images aged gracefully and compositions took on the responsibilities of family, career and personal fulfillment in keeping with Rosamond's own evolution. In March 1994, at the height of her career, Rosamond was swept from her success story by a rogue wave off the Big Sur coast as she wandered the tidepools with her sister and then eight-year old daughter. Her sister saved the child. Rosamond drowned. She was 46....more
