***Auction Highlight*** 1899 "Black Eagle" Large Size $1 Silver Certificate FR-236 Grades xf (fc)

Lot # 390 (Sale Order: 351 of 629)

***Auction Highlight*** 1899 "Black Eagle" Large Size $1 Silver Certificate FR-236 Grades xf. Ranked #16 in the 100 Greatest American Currency Notes, the Series 18...more99 Black Eagle note is from an era when paper money was backed by precious silver, as the issue bears the statement ONE SILVER DOLLAR PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND. It doesn’t take much work to figure out the nickname of the 1899 $1 silver certificate. A quick glance shows three vignettes, an eagle, Ulysses S Grant, and Abraham Lincoln. Somewhere along the way the collecting world decided that this note should be called a “black eagle.” The name has stuck. Whether you have been collected for a week or your entire life, you certainly know what a black eagle is. Grant and Lincoln often get overlooked. That might be for the best since both men are closely associated with several other large size pieces of currency. There are 12 Different Signatures combinations For this Type of note this one is FR#236 Speelman-White

***Auction Highlight*** 1901-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 397 (Sale Order: 358 of 629)

***Auction Highlight*** 1901-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms66+ By SEGS. Most Mint State examples of the 1901-O Morgan dollar came from one government vault or anothe...morer in the 1950s and 1960s. Prior to that, the date was rare in Uncirculated condition. However, while the date is plentiful overall, it is not in high grade. The finest pieces typically seen on the market are Premium Gems, and even among them quality of strike varies. Superb Gems are almost unheard of outside of high-profile collections. No Proof like coins are known this fine, and only nine non-Proof like 1901-O dollars garner a higher grade. The present example represents an incredible bidding opportunity. Frosty, untoned surfaces radiate mint luster and reveal no bothersome abrasions. The definition above Liberty's ear is significantly above average, although there remains a touch of softness, which you will never be rid of entirely on a 1901-O. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
