***Auction Highlight*** The Famous Ten-Dollar "Bison Note" of 1901 Grades vf+ (fc)

Lot # 366 (Sale Order: 327 of 629)

***Auction Highlight*** The Famous Ten-Dollar "Bison Note" of 1901 Grades vf+. One of the most sought-after notes in the world. The Series 1901 $10 Legal Tender N...moreote symbolizes the spirit of our frontier past with a beautifully engraved image of a powerful bison. With its massive size, prominent head and shaggy fur, the giant of the Great Plains captivated settlers and became a legendary fixture in the American imagination. Issued at the dawn of the last century. Flanking the bison are vignettes of explorers Lewis and Clark, whose mapping of the Louisiana Purchase territory paved the way for western expansion. The reverse features Columbia, a poetic female personification of the U.S. This rarely seen “legal tender note” is full of intricate flourishes and distinguished by a rich red seal and serial number.

***Auction Highlight*** 1919-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded Choice+ Unc By USCG (fc)

Lot # 368 (Sale Order: 329 of 629)

***Auction Highlight*** 1919-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded Choice+ Unc By USCG. This example of a key date in the Walking Liberty half dollar series off...moreers attractive Near Gem Mint Sate quality. Brilliant silver surfaces are highly lustrous with a lively satin texture. The strike is above average for this challenging issue, overall detail sharp with emerging definition to Liberty's head as well as the central high points on both sides. A key date Walking Liberty half dollar even in circulated grades, the 1919-S has a mintage of just 1,552,000 pieces. In Mint State it is the second rarest issue of the type after the 1921-S (per Jeff Ambio, Collecting & Investing Strategies for Walking Liberty Half Dollars, 2008). This is one of the nicest examples at the assigned grade level that we have handled in recent sales and it represents outstanding value for the astute collector. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1885-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms67+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 369 (Sale Order: 330 of 629)

***Auction Highlight*** 1885-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms67+ By SEGS. Up for Auction is a superb ms67+ example of the 1885-p Morgan. Stunning in all regards. Wel...morel over 150,000 1885 Morgan dollars are certified at all the major grading services combined. The date is widely collectible in most grades, but examples are moderately scarce in MS67 and genuinely rare any finer. This strong Superb Gem is almost entirely brilliant with just a hint of almond-gold color and cartwheel mint frost. Chatter is unseen without magnification. SEGS reports no finer submissions in the category, TOP POP, with PCGS reporting only 4 finer. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

***Auction Highlight*** 1810 Lg Date Large 5 BD-4 Gold Capped Bust Half Eagle $5 Graded au58 Details

Lot # 372 (Sale Order: 333 of 629)

***Auction Highlight*** 1810 Lg Date Large 5 BD-4 Gold Capped Bust Half Eagle $5 Graded au58 Details By SEGS. Offered is an appealing Choice AU example of a popula...morer early half eagle variety that will no doubt find its next home in an advanced gold type set. Light golden yellow patina blankets surfaces that retain plenty of satiny mint luster, generally in the protected areas within and around the devices. The strike is suitably bold in and around the centers, with softness of strike minor. There is only the expected light rub and wispy handling marks from light commercial use. The four known die marriages of the 1810 half eagle correspond to the four varieties listed for this issue in the Guide Book. BD-4 is the Large Date, Large 5 pairing, the obverse of which was previously used to strike the BD-3 Large Date, Small 5 variety and the reverse in its only use. An early die state example in a/a, the present coin displays no evidence of clashing, lapping or cracks on either side. This AU-58 details 1810 Large Date, Large 5 half eagle would serve with distinction in a high quality gold type set.

***Auction Highlight*** 1886-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG (fc)

Lot # 373 (Sale Order: 334 of 629)

***Auction Highlight*** 1886-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG. Melting under the Pittman Act, and perhaps other unknown factors, make the 1886-O condit...moreionally rare. By New Orleans standards, the mintage was large -- more than 10.7 million pieces were struck, yet no appreciable Mint sewn bags have materialized during the past 60 to 70 years. In Gem or finer conditions, no other Morgan dollar issue is rarer, based on the combined certified populations at PCGS and NGC. This untoned, frosty white Mint State example of this well known condition rarity is sure to please. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win Coin

***Auction Highlight*** 1896-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG (fc)

Lot # 375 (Sale Order: 336 of 629)

***Auction Highlight*** 1896-o Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc By USCG. Up for Auction is a Key Date 1896-o. Silvery and untoned over minimally abraded surface...mores, this appealing coin is worthy of a strong bid. A true condition rarity among Morgan dollars, the 1896-O is readily obtainable in worn condition yet scarce to rare in all Mint State grades. When we further consider that most Uncirculated survivors of this 4,900,000-piece issue are poorly struck with inferior luster, the present offering is sure to catch the eye of the discerning Morgan dollar collector. ***Auction Highlight*** **Star Note** 1869 $1 Large Size Legal Tender Note "Rainbow Note" Graded vf2

Lot # 378 (Sale Order: 339 of 629)

***Auction Highlight*** **Star Note** 1869 $1 Large Size Legal Tender Note "Rainbow Note" Graded vf20 By PMG. One of the most coveted and sought-after currency pie...moreces in American history is this 1869 Legal Tender Series “Rainbow” Note, so named for the colorful appearance of the front design, which features a red Treasury seal and serial numbers, a green frame around the serial number, a green tint at the top of the note, and a vertical blue tint or “stain” that runs vertically through part of the paper. Not only are the 1869 Legal Tender Series notes the only notes which bear the label “Treasury Note” instead of the label “United States Note,” found on all later issues, this $1 note from the series also marks the very first appearance of President George Washington on any federal $1 denomination bill! Listed as #41 in the book 100 Greatest Currency Notes by Q. David Bowers, the Rainbow Note also features a vignette of Columbus arriving in the New World in the upper left corner. The reverse side is perhaps even more interesting, with an array of continuous geometric “flowers” surrounding the intertwined letters “US” and a block of text describing the penalties for counterfeiting. In fact, the term “greenbacks” was used for the notes thanks to their dazzling all-green colored backs. First authorized in 1862, Legal Tender Notes are the longest-lived type of U.S. paper money in the United States. Unlike other paper currency, these notes were backed only by the credit of the government, and none have been authorized since 1869.
