*HIGHLIGHT OF NIGHT* 1808 O-102a Capped Bust Half Dollar 50c Graded ms64 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 730 (Sale Order: 476 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1808 O-102a Capped Bust Half Dollar 50c Graded ms64 By SEGS. Highlight of the Night - The vertical die crack through the 0 in the date conf...moreirms the O-102a subvariety. An originally, yet moderately, toned near-Gem with beige shades that deepen near the rim. The strike is bold throughout. The lustrous surfaces are exceptionally devoid of contact. Although just outside the Condition Census for the date, it is likely at the bottom of the condition census for the variety, an important example whose eye appeal will prove difficult to surpass. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

Proof ***Auction Highlight*** 1915 Buffalo Nickel 5c Graded pr67 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 732 (Sale Order: 478 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1915 Buffalo Nickel 5c Graded pr67 By SEGS. The 1915 Buffalo nickel has a mintage of 1,050 proofs, and enough examples survive through PR66...more to satisfy the needs of most series specialists. Those who demand a Superb Gem proof will require patience, as the 1915 is very scarce in PR67 and rare any finer. Splendid pale toning covers each side, including lilac, gold, and orange. As expected, design detail is needle-sharp. I am including another PR67 for your comparison.

Lot # 736 (Sale Order: 481 of 604)

Most of the Indian quarter eagles known in MS66 are dated 1908 or 1925-D. The 1911, along with many other issues, is a grand rarity in such fine condition. This is a Condition Census example. No service reports a finer coin. This example represents possibly the single most important opportunity for advanced gold collectors of this sale. Top-grade examples of this issue are synonymous with top-tier quality in the finest Indian Set collections. The present example offers glistening satin luster and original honey-gold color. The strike is sharp, and the preservation is, in a word: exceptional.

1922 Large Size $10 Gold Certificate Fr-1173 Speelman/White Grades vf+

Lot # 740 (Sale Order: 485 of 604)

1922 Large Size $10 Gold Certificate Fr-1173 Speelman/White Grades vf+. It is hard to believe that large size ten dollar gold certificates were only issued in 190...more7 and 1922. The United States first printed gold certificates in the early 1860s. For some reason they never printed the ten dollar denomination until 1907. 1922 was the last year of the large size gold Certificate Currnecy. In 1928 paper money was changed to the size we are accustomed to seeing today. The portrait of Alexander Hamilton was used instead of the virtually unknown Michael Hillegas. Hillegas was the first treasurer of The United States. Perhaps if Hillegas had died in a duel then he would be better remembered today. All 1922 $10 gold certificates were signed by Speelman and White. Interestingly enough, there is a small variety for the series. Some notes have smaller serial numbers than the standard numbers. The small serial number notes do command a slight premium, especially in higher grades.

Lot # 742 (Sale Order: 487 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1855-s Three Dollar Gold 3 Graded au55 By SEGS. This three dollar gold piece from the San Francisco Mint represents both the second year of...more operation for the facility and the second year of production for this denomination. Only 6,600 pieces were struck, and survivors are scarce-to-rare in Choice AU condition. Glowing luster around the borders frames lightly abraded yellow-gold surfaces. The motifs show strong detail.

Lot # 744 (Sale Order: 488 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1921-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Graded au55 By SEGS. A pleasing, brilliant Choice AU example of the San Francisco key. Luster remain...mores in the protected areas of the fields, and only light wear is evident over the high points of Liberty's figure and the eagle. A few light field marks are not bothersome at this grade level. From a mintage of only 548,000 pieces. Although the 1921-D has a lower mintage, the 1921-S Walker is the scarcest date in the series in high grade.

*HIGHLIGHT OF ENTIRE AUCTION* 1798 10 Arrows BB-108 Draped Bust $1 Graded au58+ Details By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 746 (Sale Order: 490 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1798 10 Arrows BB-108 Draped Bust Dollar $1 Graded au58+ Details By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION - Up for Auction is an Important ...morePiece, a 10 Arrows 1798 Bust Dollar. To date only 2 Mint State examples of this 10 arrows variety have ever surfaced. The 10 Arrows 1798 Silver Dollar is an interesting variety in that three of the arrows are missing from the bundle on the reverse. This was not a case of grinding the arrows from the die. Rather, the missing arrows never existed in the first place. The placement of the arrows, apart from the missing ones, is identical on both the 10 arrows variety and the normal 13 arrows 1798 Bust Dollar. The engraver was given the option of adding the additional arrows, and where to place them. In this case, he simply forgot (or neglected) to add them. The example at hand is virtually uncirculated. In fact I think it is. I think that a weak strike has been seen as a soft rub. I would categorize the coin as ms61 details rather than the au58+ details that SEGS has opted to call it. In either case it is one of the finest known examples of the 10 Arrows variety. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

The finest pieces easily obtainable are up to and including ms64, at the Gem level it becomes quite rare and beyond that it is nearly impossible. Today we bring you the nearly impossible. A superb Near TOP POP ms66 1914-d. The coin is sharp and satiny. Luminous orange-gold luster glistens in the unabraded fields and throughout the recessed devices. ***Auction Highlight*** 1926-s Mercury Dime 10c Graded Choice Unc FSB By USCG (fc)

Lot # 752 (Sale Order: 496 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1926-s Mercury Dime 10c Graded Choice Unc FSB By USCG. The luster is uniform and satiny, emphasizing the overall unblemished surfaces. Sha...morerp for the issue and flashy in-hand. With a mintage of just 1,520,000 coins, the 1926-S Mercury dime is one of the scarcer issues in the series and is one of just seven issues with mintages below two million coins. Mint State examples are elusive and become increasingly so as you approach ms64 condition. When striking quality and Full Bands qualification are considered, this population is even further limited. Researcher David W. Lange describes Gem Full Bands examples as "frustratingly rare," which does well to describe the truly challenging nature of this issue. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away Coin

Lot # 754 (Sale Order: 498 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** *HIGHLIGHT OF ENTIRE AUCTION* 1928 $500 Gold Certificate FR-2407 Woods/Mellon Graded au53 By PMG. ***HIGHLIGHT OF ENTIRE AUCTION*** Up For ...moreAuction is a 1928 $500 Gold Certificate With just around 100 pieces known Series of 1928 $500 Gold Certificates are easily considered one of the key notes to any small size U.S. currency collection. The Survival of Gold Certificates, particularly the high denominations, was impacted greatly by Franklin D. Roosevelt's executive order of April 5, 1933, requiring the surrender of these notes. In very clear terms it read, "Under the Executive Order of the President, all persons are required to deliver all gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates now owned by them to a Federal Reserve Bank, branch or agency, or to any member bank of the Federal Reserve System." The ban on gold certificates lasted until April 24, 1964, when they were given back their legal tender status. Though they were legal currency, the obligation to pay the bearer gold on demand was no longer honored. The notes remain incredibly rare as a type, with around 100 known in all grades. The presently offered example displays vividly printed inks and crackling fresh paper. The all important overprint is seen in its original yellow-gold brilliance. A true grade rarity with a few examples certified as finer. This is the first and possibly only 1928 $500 Gold Certificate We Will Ever Bring To auction.

*HIGHLIGHT OF ENTIRE AUCTION* 1802 S-231 Draped Bust Large Cent 1c Graded au58+ By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 756 (Sale Order: 500 of 604)

***Auction Highlight*** 1802 S-231 Draped Bust Large Cent 1c Graded au58+ By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION - Up for Auction is a Nearly Mint State 1802 Dra...moreped Bust Large Cent Sheldon 231, No Stems Variety. Breen Die State IX, heavily cracked and clashed. The surfaces display glossy, burgundy-brown color without evidence of environmental damage. There is a small mark within the reverse bow and there are a few others in the left obverse field. Otherwise, there is not much to limit the grade other than slightly muted luster. The strike is bold, even, and well-centered. Fading dentils around portions of the rims is due to die failure in this latest-known state. I have included 2 other examples for your comparison. I will note that the au58+ sold by Goldbergs, Goldberg disagreed with the grade and called it an ms60. I think ours is nicer. As you will see, I also think ours is as nice if not nicer than the NGC ms61. Superb Coin. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin.
